Boris starts the building of his team

Ray Lewis has been appointed Deputy Mayor for Young People - I have seen much of Ray Lewis over the last year and have been most impressed by what I have seen. He seems to be a man of action rather than words, a man of principles rather than ideology - a refreshing change from the Livingstone years.

Further appointments include:

Richard Barnes, Assembly Member, has been appointed Mr Johnson’s Deputy Mayor - a specialist in health related matters.

Ian Clement who becomes Deputy Mayor, Government Relations - a tough job to liaise with people who will want to discredit Boris's team immediately as a way of attacking David Cameron.

Kit Malthouse, Assembly Member, who becomes Deputy Mayor, Policing - a veteran of sound finance from Westminster Council, there is a lot of fat to cut at the GLA and the Met in this area.

Sir Simon Milton who becomes Senior Adviser, Planning - Much experience of planning from his Westminster Council days; maybe he will be able to say no to City developers who want to build more and more skyscrapers, unlike Ken.
