Putin and his puppet president, Dmitry Medvedev, are at it again. This time they want to unilaterally claim part of the Arctic, stepping up the race for the disputed energy-rich region.
Security of energy supply is going to be ever more important over the coming years and Russia is trying to get to the position where they have the West "over a barrel".

To be fair though, if anyone can claim the Arctic, it is Russia.
Russia DOES pretty much encircle the Arctic...
"encircle" seems a little strong, how about Canada, the US and Denmark (Greenland)?
If you dre a straight line from Kamchatka to Archangelsk, the North Pole would be between that line and the Russian coast. :)
