Gordon Brown leading the world on the banking crisis?

The BBC and the Labour party (two sides of the same coin) like to portray Gordon Brown as leading the world out of the banking crisis. If this is the case, maybe Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling or Nick Robinson could explain why de Spiegel's report on the upcoming world financial summit doesn't mention Gordon Brown even once and Britain just twice:
"The British and the Swedes, for example, found the specifications for individual financial products or markets far too detailed and the proposed rules to achieve better control of bank activities far too strict."
and
"The document that the four EU representatives, from Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy, will present in Washington is more of a series of well-intentioned headings that precise proposals."
.
Surely if the financial colossus that is Gordon Brown is really leading the world in dealing with the economic crisis then he would at least rate a mention. Maybe, and I know this is going to shock you, maybe Gordon Brown is not a financial colossus but a washed up failure, a man who has led the UK economy into a worse position than even I thought possible in 1997. A man who has failed miserably and whose only reaction to a straight question is to quote "tractor production" statistics, recall the 1990s and cast aspersions on the questioner.

For the sake of the UK, Gordon Brown will you do the decent thing - apologise for your myriad mistakes and resign.
