Plausible deniability?

The BBC are reporting that "Ministry of Justice officials were told on 14 December that Labour MP Sadiq Khan had been bugged, an internal investigation has revealed. They and his special adviser were told that a journalist was pursuing the story, but Justice Secretary Jack Straw and other ministers were not told."

Plausible deniability or the whole truth?

Meanwhile I believe I just heard Channel 4 News report that Jack Straw was told that there were concerns about Sadiq Khan visiting a terrorist suspect in jail but not that any conversations were being bugged. I think this story has further to run... When the BBC start to cover this news, I wonder how they will be asked to spin it?
