Gordon Brown's family holiday

I am confused, we were told that Gordon Brown would be spending a lovely family holiday in Southwold, Suffolk and yet I read today that he was the guest interviewee at the opening event of the Edinburgh Book festival this morning. Guido Fawkes has the news that Gordon Brown
"told the audience that he’d gone to university aged 16 as the result of a school “hot-housing” experiment which had later been dumped. “I’m the result of a failed experiment…”"
However, I am more concerned about Gordon Brown's family holiday being interrupted. Will he be rushing back to Southwold tonight or will he have to spend at least one night away from the bosom of his family. Alternatively, has the family holiday in Southwold actually ended? The BBC, despite extensive web coverage of Gordon Brown's interview with Ian Rankin, seem not to be interested in this question. If this is the case, was it always meant to end so soon?
