The BBC and Ken Clarke

Ken Clarke has long been the BBC's favourite Conservative; he is pro-EU, liberal (note the small 'l') and fun to be around. So the BBC are conflicted when dealing with Ken Clarke, they can't quite get themselves to call him a "nasty Tory", much as they would like to. However the need to boost Gordon Brown's Labour government will lead to the BBC bringing up the subject of the EU whenever they interview Ken Clarke or David Cameron from now on. I am not sure that the pair of them saying "we have agreed to differ on this matter" will satisfy the BBC. Gordon Brown may have to learn some new lines to add to "they are a do-nothing party" and that will make PMQs a little less predictable, at least for the few weeks until we learn his new lines as well.
