Ever closer union

I read at the weekend that The European Commission had decided that no single government will be able to veto the controversial plans to make all countries submit budget plans to an EU body for approval before being presented to the relevant national parliament. The decision as to whether to implement this plan will be taken by Qualified Majority Voting.

Today I read that:
'Governments which breach European Union budgetary guidelines should have their EU voting rights "suspended" to prevent any resurgence of the debt and euro crisis, France and Germany said last night.'

All heil the EUSSR! The West fought and militarially defeated the Third Reich and then economically and politically defeated the Soviet Union. Unfortunately the body formed partially to ensure peace in Western Europe looks as though it is hell-bent on concentrating as much power as it can as quickly as possible. There is no disaster that will not be used as a pretext for the EU taking power away from national governments.
