G McDowell v H Mahan - Halve - Wrong McDowell wins 2&1 - Europe 1 point

That's an original prediction of 4.5 to Europe and 7.5 to USA making it a 14:14 tie and the US retaining the trophy. Which is not what we want is it?

This is looking very close... may go to the last match! Nerves... It did go to the last match and Europe win 14.5 to 13.5... Whew!

So either I was just half a point out on each team or I only predicted three results correctly...

I have to confess that I am deeply conflicted about this. On the one hand, I am British and enjoy the success of my fellow countrymen, secondly I have a deep affection for America and its people, but I also love Europe, its richness of culture and history and the joy of being there.

What I can't abide is the blue flag with gold stars, and everything it represents. As long as European golfers agree to play under that symbol, I'm afraid I would prefer an American victory.

As posted elsewhere here, I always support the US against Europe , even though I am a Brit.

The Americans put up a valiant effort and there was a lot of drama in the final couple matches, but Stewart Cink really let the team down by missing several easy putts on the back 9 that would have secured the extra half point and the victory.
