The smartarse at the BBC might like to look at the table on page 9 of Apple's latest 10-Q - the filing linked to in the BBC report.

The column headed "Cash and Cash Equivalents" clearly says $12bn not $76bn.
Oddly I cannot see that file, could you email me an extract?
