The former Conservative leader Michael Howard has called on the FSA and the Chancellor of the Exchequer to launch inquiries into the "possibly illegal" leaks of market sensitive information to the BBC's business editor Robert Peston.
Here is the letter Michael Howard sent to the FSA:
When Mrs NotaSheep heard Robert Peston's report on the Today programme she commented at the time: "This is quite dangerous for the banks mentioned, don't you think? Investors will think that those banks have financial problems and the banks' share price will tumble. What was the point of banning short-selling when this sort of media reporting can have just as bad an effect." Maybe she should apply for Robert Peston's job when he leaves it...
I wonder how Alistair Darling will deal with this request...
