The return of the slime

I hear that Peter Mandelson is returning to the Labour cabinet via the House of Lords, this time as Business Secretary. This is the slimeball who has had to resign twice from Tony Blair's cabinets, once over the loan from his ministerial colleague Geoffrey Robinson and once over allegations of misconduct over a passport application for the Hinduja brothers. Peter Mandleson's reward for his actions, being appointed one of the UK's EU Commissioners. His time in the EU has been marked by his selling out of the UK, well EU Commissioners do have a first duty to the EU not their own country, and of course supporting the undemocratic attempts to impose the EU Treaty. Anti-democratic and with stories of sleaze in his background, yes I can see why he's been brought back into Gordon Brown's GOAT (Government Of All the TalentsTossers). And now Peter Mandleson is made a Lord so as to be in Gordon Brown's cabinet.

It seems as though Gordon and Peter have kissed and made up after their falling out when Peter backed Tony for the leadership of the Labour party in 1994. 14 years seems to be how long Gordon Brown holds a grudge, which is interesting...

Peter Mandleson was hated by the ordinary core Labour voter, so does Gordon Brown think Peter Mandleson will bring back the middle-classes who have deserted him? I just don't see it, Peter Mandleson is so slimy when being interviewed that my flesh crawls and I am not alone.

This could be the moment that is looked back on as when Gordon Brown finally lost the plot. UNLESS Gordon Brown is looking to pull a fast one and call a snap general election to secure a mandate based on "experience" for these difficult times. This is unlikely as it would require Gordon Brown to show courage and leadership, but now with Mandy to back him up; might he, could he, would he?
