Sir Ian Blair and the BBC

According to the BBC,
"A row has begun over whether Met Police chief Sir Ian Blair was forced to resign by London's Conservative mayor Boris Johnson for political motives."
I don't remember there being any questioning of political motives when Sir Ian Blair was appointed Commissioner. That's the impeccably New Labour Sir Ian Blair, the politically correct Sir Ian Blair. The BBC's analysis, that:
"Sir Ian's tenure as head of Britain's biggest police force started confidently with reforms including community support officers, neighbourhood police, and a more diverse workforce, and he has presided over falling crime in the capital."
speaks volumes, does it not?

Should not the BBC have to put out a statement of where they stand on each issue, so the public know what line they are being fed by the corporation.
