Peter Mandelson and the Euro

I see that Peter Mandelson was asked in Berlin whether the UK would join the Euro and replied
"Does it remain an important objective for Britain to find itself in the same currency as that single market in which it interacts? Obviously yes."
I wonder if anyone asked him two follow-up questions:
1. Will the UK public be given the referendum that they were promised and, according to opinion polls, want?
2. Since you are (or will be) in receipt of an EU pension and that EU pensions are paid on the understanding that the EU can remove this pension, if in the view of the Commission or the Luxembourg Court, the recipient "fail(s) to uphold the interests of the European Communities", does that affect what should be your primary loyalty to the UK?
