"the nature of the electoral system we have. The hurdle is absurdly high - grossly, unfairly high - for the Conservatives to pass. This is beginning to dawn on people, especially when you begin to grapple with the fact that the Tories could have a 10 per cent lead and still not win."
David Owen in his Total Politics interview.

It is odd how that beacon of 'fairness' the BBC Never comment on the unfairness inherent in the UK electoral system, I wonder if that is because it favours the Labour party?

The electoral system is unfair to the Conservatives, but most of all to the British people. Many of the problems with our electoral system come from trying to choose both an MP and a Government with one vote. We need one ballot paper with one vote to elect an MP in a single member constituency, and one vote to choose a Government. This way each party can have the voting strength in Parliament that reflects its overall support in the country. Multimember constituencies and party lists are not necessary or desirable. Direct Party and Representation Voting is the way forward. That way everyone has a vote with real choice and power.
