It's the religion of peace and tolerance again

Israel 'the apartheid state' is the regular cry of the great unthinking. That is of course rubbish as all religions can practice freely in Israel and of course in the heart of Jerusalem there are mosques that Jews may not enter. Here however are some examples of religious tolerance from Islamic countries.

1) Energy Publisher reveals that:
'The Islamic party of Pakistan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and launched a campaign asking to ban the circulation of the Bible, described as a "pornographic " and "blasphemous book". This is a new attack against the Christian community in Pakistan, frightened by the attacks and threats suffered after the death of Bin Laden, already under attack due to the damaging effects of the blasphemy law, with the consequence of death penalty to those who insult the Koran or the Prophet Muhammad. The radical group Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, with its headquarters in Karachi, launched the campaign at a public conference.'
That's religious tolerance in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

2) Meanwhile from Malaysia via Al Jazeeera we read that:
'Malaysian lawyers, politicians and activists have criticised the country's police for allegedly chaining up and marking the bodies of 30 foreign women detained for prostitution.
"The police branded the detained women as though they are cattle,'' Teresa Kok, an opposition politician, said in a statement on Saturday.

"It is sickening that the police would employ such dehumanising tactics as a show of power and moral superiority over their detainees.''

...

The incident triggered an outcry after local newspapers carried photos of the women bound up with a long chain and marked with either a tick or an X on their chest and forehead.

Women's rights group Tenaganita said the detainees had been victimised and called for an investigation into the police conduct.

Another rights group, Lawyers for Liberty, said the police action was "very unusual and inhumane'' as the women were merely suspects and not convicted of any crime.

Police have defended their actions, saying the markings served as a way to identify the women.

Ayub Yaakob, Penang police chief, told the New Straits Times that the situation was chaotic, with the suspects trying to escape.

He said police were forced to mark the women after some donned new clothes to try and blend in with other female patrons of the club.

He also said the women had wrecked many marriages and that police had received numerous complaints from wives of men who sought their services.'

I await, with no real expectation, the cries of protest from the usual suspects in the West who rail at every perceived infraction of human rights by Israel.

Amazing. Unless Malaysia has changed since I lived there many years ago, every town has its brothel. But that is true of all muslim countries I have visited.

I have heard the same but then nobody said Islamists were consistent.
