Gordon Brown brought Glenys Kinnock back into his Government as Europe Minister this summer saying that she was the best person for the job. I note that yesterday she was moved to be responsible for Africa at the Foreign Office and replaced by Chris Bryant. Maybe Gordon Brown could let us know at what point Glenys Kinnock ceased to be the best person for the job of Europe Minister and why Chris Bryant is better suited to the role.
Rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic and Hitler directing non-existent armies on his war map spring to mind as analogies.

I've read that Brown's mini-reshuffle was to ensure that the Europe minister was a member of the commons, so that they can more effectively attack/smear the Tories over their European affilliations.
So - appointing ministers for party political purposes. Nice, eh?
