EU Treaty - again

I listened to the Toady programme this morning, very bad for my blood pressure. There was an interview with some pillock (it may have been David Miliband) about the EU Treaty and he explained very patiently, but disingenuously, how it differed completely from the Referendum because it didn't start again, but was an amending treaty. The interviewer let him get away with this fatuous comment because Toady interviewers always do. The fact that as I have blogged before and previously here. the fact that the type of arrangement has changed does not alter the fact that the result is the same. Think of the Constitution and Treaty as equations, don't worry this will make sense. Let us assume that the old treaties are T1, T2, T3, T4 etc. and the Constitution is C, if the new treaty is Tz and the minor differences are D. We can see that:

T1..x+Tz=C-D

According to various European bigwigs T1..x+Tz=C-D=C*0.90 or T1..x+Tz=C-D=C*0.95 or even T1..x+Tz=C-D=C*0.99

If you are not mathematically inclined or have been taught Maths since the end of O'Levels, then think of it this way, the constitution did indeed abolish all the old treaties but it then re-enacted them with amendments and new "innovations" to make up 157,000 words. The new treaty simply amends the existing treaties and adds new components so that the end result, as a consolidated treaty, is only 157,000 words.

I don't understand why more people are not making a fuss about this. I know it's not as easy as voting on Big Brother or the X factor, but to paraphrase Douglas Adams - Apathetic bloody people, I've no sympathy at all..

I see on the BBC that Miliband was at it again in front of the Scrutiny Committee today. "Mr Miliband said "everyone accepted" that the treaty and the abandoned EU Constitution were different." Yes, we know they are different in approach but the end result is the same, stop dissembling. It was him on the Today programme and here is a quote "The constitution got rid of all previous EU treaties and created a new re-founding document of the EU. The treaty does not do that: it leaves everything in place." I refer you to my previous point. I hate politicians who don't answer the question and mislead the public almost instinctively.
