Here we go again

I read  that:

'The European Union said on Monday it would lift visa requirements for travellers from Albania and Bosnia next month, aiming to encourage democratic reforms in the Balkan states, but warned that restrictions could be re-imposed if travel rules are abused.'

Do we ever learn? So Albanians will no longer have to pretend to be Italian in order to work in the UK but will be able to visit  here as prospective EU citizens. How many will disappear once here and add to the costs of the welfare state. Are we, as a country, so stupid as to let the EU get away with this sort of decision? Why does the EU need to expand further, is it doing that well? Or is is a simple matter of diluting the power of individual countries so as to concentrate the power in the EU itself?
