IS Urged Vehicle-Ramming Attacks In 2014 and they've been used before in France and again and again in Israel - not that you'd know from the BBC coverage of the terrorist attack on Nice

It's interesting, revealing and entirely predictable how the BBC's coverage of the terrorist attack on Nice has minimised coverage of the perpetrator's name and religion but also the precedents for such an attack. 

It's not that that information isn't well known to those such as I who follow the news impartially. It's also been reported on by Sky News here http://news.sky.com/story/is-urged-vehicle-ramming-attacks-in-2014-10502688

'The so-called Islamic State urged its followers to attack French people with vehicles well before the deadly attack in Nice.

A speech two years ago from the jihadists' spokesman, Abu Mohammed al Adnani, encouraged devotees to turn to more basic methods of terrorism if they could not obtain guns or explosives.

"If you are not able to find a bomb or a bullet, then smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or crush him with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him," he said.

In his remarks, Adnani singled out "the spiteful French" amid a long list of enemies topped by "the disbelieving American" and their allies.

A month later, a man rammed his car into two Canadian soldiers in Quebec, killing one of them, in an attack that may have been inspired by Adnani's recording.

In December 2014, a man rammed a van into a crowd of shoppers at a Christmas market in Nantes, injuring nearly 20 people.

That came days after another driver, who witnesses said shouted Allahu Akbar (God is great), rammed pedestrians in the central French city of Dijon, wounding about a dozen.

Police refrained from calling the Dijon and Nantes incidents terrorist attacks because they said both individuals had a history of psychiatric illness.

Israel has seen a number of ramming attacks in recent years, mainly where lone Arabs have driven into pedestrians or bus stops, in a tactic dubbed the "run-over intifada".

Alan Mendoza, executive director of The Henry Jackson Society, a conservative think tank, said: "Nice shows an evolution of tactics from terrorists, echoing methods used against Israelis."

He said the massacre in Nice underlines shows how difficult such attacks are to prevent.'

So if Sky News can manage to report the ISIS incitement, the resulting similar attacks in France, Canada and Israel, then why can't the BBC?

Nice attack: Dozens killed during Bastille Day celebrations per BBC News

The BBC report on the attack in Nice:

'At least 84 people have died, including children, after a lorry slammed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern French city of Nice.

The driver ploughed on for 2km on the Promenade des Anglais at about 23:00 local time, before being shot dead by police.

President Francois Hollande said the attack was of "an undeniable terrorist nature".'

A terrorist attack? Really, do you think so? This use of motor vehicles as weapons was started by Palestinian terrorists in Israel as a way of killing Jews. My prediction is that this was an Islamist terrorist killing kufr.

Delivering aid to Gaza

'The World Bank is keeping track of how the nations that have pledged to rebuild Gaza after Operation Protective Edge have been keeping their promises.

It finds that only 40% of the pledges  - $1.4 billion out of pledges of $3.5 billion - have been paid so far, two years after the war.

However, if you break down the numbers by Muslim-majority countries and all others, an interesting pattern emerges.

Non-Muslim countries and NGOs pledged about $1.4 billion and so far paid about $1 billion, about 71% of their pledges.

Muslim nations pledged the bulk of the money meant to rebuild Gaza - $2.1 billion - but have paid only $360 million, which is only about 16.5% of what they pledged.

Qatar pledged a whopping billion dollars to rebuild Gaza - and has paid only $150 million of it.

Saudi Arabia paid only about 10% of its $500 million pledge.

Kuwait, which pledged $200 million, has not paid a dime.

Even Turkey, supposedly Gaza's best friend, has only paid 32% of its $200 million pledge.

We've seen this pattern many times before when Arab and Muslim nations pledged huge amounts of money to Palestinians and simply didn't pay up.

Arab nations paid only 21% of what they pledged at the Paris Donors Conference in December 2007.

In 2010, an Arab conference to help make Jerusalem an Arab city resulted in $500 million of pledges - of which only 7% was paid.

The Arab League committed to providing 7.7% of UNRWA's annual budget. As of 2010, they were only paying 1.5%.'

Child immigration from Afghanistan

'Huge Increase In Child Migrants As Afghan Parents Send Kids To Europe

Afghan parents are sending their children to Europe unaccompanied in the hope they will be granted asylum and seek reunification with the rest of their families, a report by the European Union's (EU) asylum office has said.
 

Last year, nearly 96,000 unaccompanied minors applied for asylum in the EU, four times as many as the previous year, with the vast majority coming from Afghanistan.

Ward Lutin of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) told Euractiv that the numbers coming from Afghanistan were "huge".

"There is some social research showing that in Afghanistan, this is seen as a grouping mechanism. Families send out their children, strategically, hoping that they will manage to get a status in Europe, and then use them as anchor children and be reunited with them."

European asylum authorities are seen as far more sympathetic to minors, and once those minors are granted asylum they can request for the rest of their family to be given asylum under reunification rules.'

Jeremy Corbyn faces new questions from MPs about antisemitism per The Guardian

The Guardian reports that Jeremy Corbyn is likely to be recalled to give further evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee following complaints about the accuracy of some of his testimony. 

'One of several complaints is understood to relate to comments Corbyn made about one of his constituents, Paul Eisen. Corbyn told the committee that he had not attended any events involving Eisen after he heard that he was a Holocaust denier, but MPs want to question him further having received what they say is evidence to the contrary.

One Labour MP said: "I was shocked by the answers he gave the committee and I'm not surprised they want to speak to him again. He attended Paul Eisen's events years after everyone knew about his Holocaust denial."'

Cliff Richard 'to sue BBC and South Yorkshire Police' per BBC News

The BBC report through gritted teeth that:

'Pop singer Sir Cliff Richard is reported to be planning to sue the BBC and South Yorkshire Police for "colluding" to broadcast a police raid on his home.

Officers investigating historic sex allegations against the singer launched an investigation in 2014, which was filmed by the BBC.'

Good, more people should sue the BBC when it gets things wrong, I'd like them brought to book for every piece of bias too.

Rather than just accept these comments why does nobody ask WHY English people won't pick fruit, WHY unemployed English people are reluctant to work on a farm. Is it laziness, is it being told by family, television reality shows and elsewhere that they can live their dreams? Is it a result of an all 

must have prizes education system?

All good questions but not ones that the institutionally pro EU, pro immigration BBC will ever raise.

The BBC trying to mislead people

The death of the Glaswegian shopkeeper Assad Shah was and is a tricky one for the BBC to report. He was a Muslim killed in a religiously motivated attack. The trouble for the BBC is that he wasn't killed by a BNP supporter, or a UKIP voter or a Brexit supporter, he was killed by another Muslim.

So the BBC's choice of wording for this story on their home page is interesting.

They name the victim Assad Shah and leave the reader to put the name with the picture and assume that he was a Muslim. They don't name the perpetrator of the attack in the link text, maybe because his name is Tanveer Ahmed, a Muslim of Pakistani heritage living in Bradford.

The BBC article linked to above is interesting for several reasons and I'll explain why here.

'A 32-year-old man has admitted murdering a Glasgow shopkeeper in a religiously motivated attack.

Tanveer Ahmed, from Bradford in Yorkshire, attacked Asad Shah outside his store in the Shawlands area on 24 March. Mr Shah later died in hospital.

The 40-year-old was killed just hours after he posted an Easter message on Facebook to his customers.

Mr Shah was an Ahmadiyya, a group known for its peaceful interfaith concerns. Ahmed said he had "disrespected" Islam.

He pled guilty to the murder at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.'

 So Ahmadiyya are known for their peaceful interfaith concerns, that's established here.

'Ahmadiyya Muslims are persecuted in many parts of the world and are banned by the constitution of Pakistan from referring to themselves as Muslims.

Mr Shah was born in Rabwah, Pakistan, and moved to Glasgow in 1998 to join his father in business.

He had posted a message on Facebook which read: "Good Friday and a very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nationx."

The shopkeeper had also uploaded hundreds of videos about his spiritual beliefs to YouTube, most of which were filmed behind the counter of his shop.

Mr Shah was found with stab wounds in Minard Road, Shawlands, at about 21:00 on 24 March.

Ahmed, a cab driver in Bradford, was arrested shortly afterwards and later said in a statement released through his lawyer that he had killed Mr Shah as he had falsely claimed to be a prophet.'

Ahmadiyya are persecuted in many parts of the world and in Pakistan are banned from calling themselves Muslims. Why should that bother us in the UK? Because the prejudices and hatreds of communities from around the world have been imported to this country.

''Mindset of hate'

Ahmed said: "Asad Shah disrespected the messenger of Islam the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Mr Shah claimed to be a Prophet.

"If I had not done this others would and there would have been more killing and violence in the world."

His statement was immediately condemned by Ahmadiyya Muslim leaders, who said: "In some countries Ahmadiyya Muslim members, Christians and people of other faiths are routinely attacked and murdered by extremists for accusations of blasphemy.

"Such killings are completely against the teachings of Islam.

"We must not let the same mindset of hate and violence take root here in Glasgow, and for that matter, the UK and anywhere in the world."'

So one Muslim killed another Muslim, albeit one that the first Muslim didn't consider a Muslim, beacause the first Muslim considered that the second Muslim, albeit one that the first Muslim didn't consider a Muslim, had desrespected the messenger of Islam. That seems straightforward and perfectly understndable in 21st century Britain...

Ahmadiyya leaders condemned the murder and the statement of the murderer and said that such killings are against the teachings of Islam. There's no mention of any Sunni Muslim groups saying that such killings are against the teachings of Islam, maybe that will come later in the report.

'Who are the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community?

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded in 1889. Its origins are in British-controlled northern India. The community identifies itself as a Muslim movement and follows the teachings of the Koran.

The community's website says it has tens of millions of members across 206 countries. Its current headquarters are in the UK.

The Ahmadiyya community takes its name from its founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who was born in 1835 and was regarded by his followers as the messiah and a prophet.

Ghulam Ahmad saw himself as a renewer of Islam and claimed to have been chosen by Allah.

The community "categorically rejects and condemns every form of terrorism" and also endorse a separation of the mosque and state.'

That's an interesting section, informative but also confusing. Ahmadiyyas identify as Muslims, but we know from earlier that Pakistan does not allow them to do so. There's a repetition of Ahmadiyya rejecting and condemning terrorism and also that they believe in a separation of mosque and state.

Surely the BBC should explain that Sunni and Shia Muslims do not believe in a separation of mosque and state, a belief which is a cause of much of the Islamist violence around the world.

 No the BBC do not report on any Pakistani heritage Sunni leaders condemning the murder of an Ahmadiyya but they do report:

'The murder of Mr Shah, who was well-known in the area, shocked the local community, with Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon among those to pay their respects to him.'

Maybe they couldn't find a Sunni leader of Pakistani heritage to condemn the murders, maybe they didn't bother looking for one.

So there you have it, a BBC headline designed to mislead the casual reader and a report designed to do the same for any reader who showed an interest in the news.  The BBC proud to protect their Pakistani heritage readers and  Islam.

7/7 forgotten by the BBC

I can't find anything about the anniversary of 7/7 on the BBC news website

Eleven years after these homegrown Islamist terrorist attacks  on London, the BBC chooses to forget the Londoners that died or were injured, many very seriously.

Those that died are listed here but also think about those that survived, some very badly injured. At the time around 700 people were injured; some 350 were treated on the scene, and 350 in hospital. 100 required overnight hospitalisation or longer and 22 were seriously or critically injured (I believe a few may still be hospitalised but cannot confirm this). Many of these people will still bear the scars both physical and mental, as will many who although not injured were on the trains or the bus that were bombed and of course the family & friends of the dead and injured.

On 7/7 four Islamist terrorists blew themselves up on London's transport system killing 52 innocent people. There is a memorial to them on the BBC here. Take some time to read the potted biographies and see the waste of human life that day.

I am sure that many Londoners still remember the pain of that day and the fear that pervaded London that week and beyond as they had to travel to work on a London transport system that now seemed oh so dangerous.

When people try and justify terrorism because 'we invaded Iraq, or because 'Israel stole Muslim land' or whatever remember this photo of Dan Biddle. What part did Dan Biddle play in these 'offences'?
What part did any of those who were injured on 7/7 play in these 'offences'? What part did those who died on 7/7 play? The answer is none, but to many Islamists only Muslims can be innocent, anybody who is not a Muslim is thus a fair target. Terrorists are terrorists and deserve no sympathy at all.

There seem to be many people speculating as to how the government or the House of Commons or the House of Lords could overrule the Brexit vote.

This BBC report perfectly illustrates the double standards of the BBC.

They report a claim of antisemitism by Hillary Clinton that seems to be based on very little. However when it comes to their allies in the British Labour Party they turn a blind eye to all sorts of antisemitic language and behaviour.

I'd say this was odd but it's not, it's part of the BBC's bias and campaigning.

What we know: The Bangladesh bakery attackers per BBC News (part 2)

The last paragraph of this BBC report on the latest Islamist terrorist attack, this time in Dhaka, could make someone say 'unless'.

'"My son used to pray five times a day from a young age. But we never imagined this. There was nothing at home, no books or anything to indicate he was leaning that way, So we had no inkling."'

What we know: The Bangladesh bakery attackers per BBC News

This BBC report reveals that once again poverty is not a factor in Islamist terrorism, something that the left like to pretend is the case.

'The attackers are all Bangladeshis from rich families and with good educations, according to Bangladeshi's home minister Asaduzzaman Khan.'

'Let’s stop this ludicrous idea that Jeremy Corbyn is some amiable buffoon who’s simply out of his depth... Jeremy Corbyn is one the nastiest and most cynical politicians ever to operate on the national stage.'

'Think about what happened for a moment. At an event to launch a report into Labour's attitude to anti-Semitism, the leader of the Labour Party – in a prepared script – thought the most appropriate thing he could say was: "Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel or the Netanyahu Government than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states or organisations."

One might say that the irony that he was launching a report condemning inappropriate comparisons with Israel was lost on him. But, as I will explain, it wasn't lost at all; it was deliberate. Some have tried to argue that his words do not compare Israel with Isil. You have to wonder if they can read. His point is that both Israel and Isil are extremists, terrorists, call them what you will. And while Muslims are decent because they do not support Isil's actions, so too Jews are decent when they do not support Israel. And, of course, only when they do not support Israel.

You could describe this as cloth-eared, or even stupid – and since he became Labour leader, the narrative has usually been that Mr Corbyn isn't up to the job, doesn't get it, isn't really to be taken seriously. But that is to give him credit he does not deserve.

The truth is far more unsavoury. It's clear from his speech that for Jeremy Corbyn, anti-Semitism is something to be weaponised. This was not some off-the-cuff remark, some slip. These were his – or probably Seumas Milne's – considered words. At a meeting on anti-Semitism, he thought the most appropriate thing that he could say was to compare Israel with Isil. This is hard-Left dog whistle politics. With "anti-Zionism" a defining feature of the hard-Left, this is using anti-Semitism as a tool.

If you doubt me, consider what else happened this morning. A Labour MP, who has spent her entire political career fighting racism, who worked at Hope Not Hate and has fought Islamaphobia and, as Mr Corbyn would put it, "all forms of racism", was singled out for attack by a Momentum activist. Singled out and abused directly in front of Corbyn.

Singled out and abused in front of Mr Corbyn while the Labour leader stood by and watched. Singled out and abused for being part of a conspiracy - a classic anti-Semitic trope - while Mr Corbyn said nothing.

That MP, Ruth Smeeth, had to leave the meeting because the abuse was so upsetting. And that MP is Jewish. Which Mr Corbyn knows full well. This is not the "hapless" Jeremy Corbyn of caricature. This is the cynicism of the true revolutionary.

Let's stop this ludicrous idea that Jeremy Corbyn is some amiable buffoon who's simply out of his depth. As this morning showed, Jeremy Corbyn is one the nastiest and most cynical politicians ever to operate on the national stage.

He is happy to stand by and watch, saying and doing nothing, while a Jewish Labour MP is viciously abused at an event about anti-Semitism.'

Police officers had to rush her office, close the shutters and attempt to trace the call after the man said he was on his way and hung up. '

"Scientists know" - yet another reminder

As I sit in London watching the rain fall as it seems to have done for the whole of June this year, I remember a post that I made back in July 2009.

Rainfall will decline in the summer and the increased deluges in winter will struggle to replenish thirsty reservoirs because much of the water will run off the baked ground."

Scientists know... climate destiny is fixed... Rainfall will decline in the summer..." It's all rubbish folks; most of these scientists are not predicting based on science, they are designing science to fit the desired predictions.

What about the second part of what "scientists know"? "Rainfall will decline in the summer and the increased deluges in winter will because much of the water will run off the baked ground."
Shall we take a look at reservoir levels in the baked South of England, the area with the biggest water problem? South East Water report the levels at their two largest reservoirs: Arlington Reservoir was 89% full on 16 June (the last day they report levels), Ardingly Reservoir was just under 97% full on the same date.

What about the South West maybe they are faring worse? Well South West Water are somewhat more up to date than South East Water and they report data up until the week ending 19 July, well done South West Water. They report percentage data for their five reservoirs: Roadford, Colliford, Wimbleball, Stithians and Burrator. The figures show that the average storage levels across these five reservoirs was 88.7%. As a comparison it was around 65% in 1995; water shortage getting worse? Does it look as though there are problems replenishing thirsty reservoirs because of the declining rainfall that scientists know about?

How about Severn Trent? They report that for July - "Current water storage levels in the Severn Trent region are at 87.3% of capacity".

I could go on and on but I think that the pattern will be similar across most of the UK regions.

So how about The Environment Agency the body that is so certain about Climate Change that they confidently state on their web site:

"It's an inescapable fact: our planet is warming up. Records show that temperatures around the world have risen steadily since 1900...

Climate change is the biggest environmental challenge facing the world today. We know the Earth's climate does change naturally over a long timescale, but the overwhelming majority of the scientific community now accepts that human activities are causing significant, rapid changes to our climate.

Over the past century, global temperatures have risen - the 10 warmest years on record have all been since 1990. The contribution to global warming from human activity is linked to increases in the amounts of heat-trapping "greenhouse gases" in the atmosphere. As the concentrations of greenhouse gases increase, less heat can escape from the atmosphere, making the Earth warmer. The main greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide, which is released by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.

What will happen if we do nothing?

The latest data tells us that some climate change is already inevitable, so we will need to adapt to its impacts. We must plan for more extreme weather conditions: wetter winters with an increased risk of floods, and hotter, drier summers that put pressure on water resources. Sea levels will also rise, increasing the risk of flooding around our coastline."

Maybe these are some of the scientists who know what's going to happen to the climate in the UK. After all they also seem to know that we are going to experience "wetter winters with an increased risk of floods, and hotter, drier summers that put pressure on water resources". Let's look at the Environment Agency's own figures...

The Environment Agency publish their Water Situation for England and Wales figures on a monthly basis so the latest report is for June and tells us that:

"At the end of June stocks were normal or higher for the time of year at three quarters of reservoir or reservoir groups. Stocks at six reservoirs were below normal and notably low at one reservoir (Vyrnwy)."

So after years of knowing that reservoirs would not be replenished by winter rains we have a situation, as the rain pours off my roof, where three quarters of UK reservoirs have higher than normal stocks...

Scientists know? I think not.'

 So how are the reservoirs looking in 2016?

South East England - interestingly not updated since March so I presume the levels haven't dropped.

 South West England - Up to date and higher levels than last year

And The Environment Agency

Summary for May 2016

Although May has been considerably drier than April, especially in the north and west, the average rainfall for England has been above average for the 7th consecutive month.

Monthly mean river flows have decreased at all indicator sites, but remain normal across much of England.

Soil moisture deficits increased across most of England, as expected for the time of year.

Groundwater levels decreased at the majority of indicator sites, but remain normal or higher at all but one of the sites.

Reservoir stocks decreased at just over two-thirds of reported reservoirs and reservoir groups during May.

So when you next hear the BBC / Guardian report that a scientific expert knows what the climate will do, remember this:

Surely that's the sort of important news that a British unbiased news reporting entity would want to report. So it's no surprise that the BBC haven't.

Mahmoud Abbas retracts his blood libel

'Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday morning retracted accusations that Israeli rabbis had called for the poisoning of Palestinian wells.

The PA president had made the unsubstantiated charge in an address Thursday to the European Parliament, prompting harsh condemnation from Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing Abbas of propagating blood libel, referring to anti-Semitic allegations against Jews that arose in the Middle Ages.

The retraction, which was issued by the Palestine Liberation Organization, which Abbas chairs, said Abbas "rejected all claims that accuse him and the Palestinian people of offending the Jewish religion."'

EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum - There's a lot of upset REMAINIACS out there

This petition has attracted over 880,000 signatures to date:

'We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60% based a turnout less than 75% there should be another referendum.'

I can see the merit in this but wonder two things:

1. If the vote had been even 50.01% Remain to 49.99%  Leave how many of these signatories would have been in the slightest bothere?

2. Do the people signing this realise that this would apply from now, to change the current position, to get back into the EU. Or do they want a rerun?

The Orlando shooting, an update

The Daily Wire has an interesting piece of news that the BBC will do their best not to report.

'In news sure to make Attorney General Loretta Lynch shudder, the FBI has now announced that it has found no support for the proposition that the Orlando jihadist, Omar Mateen, was gay or had gay lovers. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, reports emerged that the jihadist had hung out at the Pulse nightclub he subsequently shot up; some Pulse regulars said they had seen the jihadist there before.

According to the FBI, that's untrue.'

The EU Referendum - an interesting point

All day I have been hearing the BBC call the referendum split as whilst England and Wales voted for Leave, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted for Remain. The BBC have also been explaining how London also voted Remain and Nicola Sturgeon said that she would ally with Sadiq Khan in negotiations.

I looked at the BBC's own results front page which splits the vote by UK constituent country and saw this...

Do you note that whilst the BBC's analysis is correct there is something else of note here. The two nations that voted Leave had a higher turnout than the two nations that voted Remain. That's the sort of inconvenient fact that the BBC won't be highlighting. What they are highlighting is that:

'A petition calling for Sadiq Khan to declare London an independent state after the UK voted to quit the EU has been signed by thousands of people.

The petition's organiser James O'Malley, said the capital was "a world city" which should "remain at the heart of Europe".

Nearly 60% of people in the capital backed the Remain campaign, in stark contrast to most of the country.'

If Remain had won, imagine the BBC reaction to some areas calling for independence for themselves. Laughter, derision, pointing out what democracy means and so on. But as it's a view that the BBC agree with...

Veep - An unnecessary moment

I love the US comedy series Veep, it's brilliantly written, well acted and contains satire of the highest order.

So I was a little shocked to hear this line from Series 5, Episode 3 - about 23 minutes in:

Charliie Baird Jnr: "We just heard a lovely story about the Queen of England."

Selina Myers (Veep): "Well she's a f***ing c***" (expletive asterisked to save Google from censoring)

I have Tweeted Chris Addison, the current series's director and supervising producer, to ask if he's proud of this unnecessarily offensive line but so far he has not deigned to respond, maybe he's upset over the Brexit referendum result. I'll let you know if he responds but somehow I doubt it.

Meantime I wonder if The Daily Mail have caught wind of this, it's right up their street...

Europe's largest stock markets

The BBC are headlining the falls in the UK FTSE but what strikes me from this recent snapshot is that:

1. the DAX is down more than the FTSE 100 and the All Share
2. the CAC 40 is down more than all the FTSE indexes/indices
3. The Bel 20 is down more than all bar the FTSE 250
4. the IBEX is down more than an of the FTSE indexes/indices

Maybe the EU stock markets are reflecting not only their inherent weakness but also that the remaining EU countries will have to pay more to make up for the loss of the UK's subscriptions.

The collapsing Pound - some perspective

The BBC are screaming about the collapsing Pound. Here's some perspective:

The Pound closed against the dollar on the 28th February this year at 1.3863.

It now stands at 1.3792

That's a fall of just over half of one percent - 0.512% in fact.

I don't remember the BBC calling this a disaster in February, why now?

Brexit - Why?

I went to sleep last night thinking that Project Fear had worked, hell earlier in the day even I had started to have doubts about which way to vote.

At 10pm last night I heard the poll forecasts of 52:48 for Remain and that the pound was hitting $1.50. This just seemed odd, the mood of the country didn't seem to be towards Remain, but maybe Project Fear had worked, after all even I had nearly cracked. However it felt wrong, so I tweeted...

I slept and awoke at 4ish thinking that being a gracious loser was important and that at least Sterling was up so holidays would be a little cheaper. Then I heard the news... Leave had won!

Of course the BBC are all doom and gloom and 'told you so' re the financial markets. Sterling down 9% they are saying, will yes against a figure that was illusory, a figure whose value was decided on wrong information. I was buying dollars not that long ago at just under 1.40, so the drop is about 5%, painful but not unprecedented.

But why did the Brexit campaign win? The blame can be laid in four main places:
1. The EU itself - By taking away democratic control from the people, the people felt powerless. This referendum gave the people some power and they exercised it. Also when David Cameron asked for a few scraps from the table to allow him to present his EU renegotiation as a success, they couldn't even allow that. So David Cameron had to pretend that he'd got a good deal but it was obvious that he hadn't.

2. Tony Blair and the Labour Party - Tony Blair was an EU supporter and an ally of the EU fanatic Peter Mandelson. But Tony Blair's culpability in this regard actually lies elsewhere. By opening the UK up to unprecedented immigration from both within and outside of the EU, Tony Blair and the Labour Party hoped to 'rub the right's noses in diversity'. Immigration into the UK increased to unprecedented levels and the people that were affected the most were those working class people, historically Labour voters, who saw their wages drop, their jobs disappear, their schools get more crowded, their roads fill up, their hospitals at breaking point and their ability to buy or rent a house recede as demand for housing and other public services outstripped supply.

3. The British media - The BBC dominate the British mediasphere and they have been very pro EU, pro unlimited immigration and frankly insulting of anyone who dared to hold a contrary view. A large proportion of the British people were tired of being called 'racist' when they pointed out that their hospitals, schools, roads etc were being adversely affected  by immigration. If the BBC had allowed their voices to be heard, if the government had listened to their legitimate concerns, then maybe the people wouldn't have become so angry. But the media and the establishment always know better, know what's good for the people and left the people voiceless, until...

4. David Cameron - I really believe that David Cameron didn't believe that he win the 2015 general election with a majority Conservative government. So a promise of an EU referendum was safe, he could say that the price of having another Conservative lead coalition with the Lib Dems was that there could be no EU referendum and he would probably have got away with that. Unfortunately for David Cameron the mood in the country was such that Labour voters fled the Labour Party for UKIP in sufficient numbers for the Conservatives to win a majority government. Now what was David Cameron to do? He went to the EU (actually see 1. for what happened)

5. Angela Merkel - Her decision to open the floodgates to Middle East and North African immigration and the resulting images of, mainly, young ,men walking into Europe helped to decide the views of many who don't benefit from cheap cleaners, gardeners and builders but who can no longer get work in thise jobs because they've been undercut by immigrants.

The EU says the Single Market adds 2% to GDP, so how could leaving it cost 6%?

'To summarise: the European Commission says being in the Single Market adds 2% to GDP. If we were outside, we could do additional trade deals with the rest of the world, beyond the three significant countries with which the EU currently has deals: Mexico, South Africa and Korea. 

The European Commission's own analysis suggests that just seven of those deals would be worth 2% of GDP, and the three the UK would be most likely to get that the EU would not would be worth 1% of GDP. And all of that is before one even touches upon other gains from being outside the EU, such as allowing the EU to work better and grow faster, improving UK regulation and repatriating the UK's net contribution.

Since the Single Market adds 2% to GDP and leaving it would allow us to pursue trade deals worth more than 1% of GDP and perhaps much more, how can the Treasury seriously expect anyone to believe leaving the Single Market will cost 6% of GDP?'

Kicking Us Off International Organizations
 

The EU's Five Presidents' Report, the blueprint for the next round of European integration, contains dark hints about removing the UK from international bodies and subsuming them into a common EU representative.

This already happens in organisations like the World Trade Organization, the fisheries commission that governs the North Sea, and any bodies set up to make EU trade deals.

But the EU report pointed out that areas where member states still represent themselves – like the IMF – leave the union with a "fragmented voice" and "should be increasingly unified".

The intentions behind the observation are vague, but point to an ambition to stop countries like the UK putting their own interest ahead of Europe.

Suffocating London's Art Market
 

Another European Commission plan is to slap extra licensing laws on art dealers.

London art dealers warned that the extra burden would lose them masses of business to other major cities like New York and Geneva, which wouldn't have to bother.

'The Department of Justice is scrubbing references of radical Islamic beliefs from the transcripts of calls Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen made to police during his massacre, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Sunday.

A partial transcript of the conversations between authorities and Mateen, who killed 49 and wounded 53 in the June 12 attack at a Florida gay nightclub, is set to be released on Monday. But Lynch, who appeared on numerous Sunday talk shows, said the transcripts will not include Mateen's oath of loyalty to ISIS or any other religious justification for the attack.

"What we're not going to do is further proclaim this man's pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda," Lynch told NBC. "We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State]."'

The future of the EU

'The Spanish newspaper El Pais (17th June) carried a front page article saying that the EU is deliberately holding back a raft of new legislation until after the Referendum on 23rd June because knowledge of it in Britain would boost the Brexit vote.

The article claims that David Cameron has asked the European Commission to postpone discussions on anything sensitive until after this Thursday.  The measures that El Pais says are being held back include:

A European Tax to co-ordinate an EU defense system
 

A plan to impose quotas for member states sharing refugees
 

Visa free access for Turkish citizens

Discussions are set to resume on 28th-29th June.

If the British vote to Remain in the EU then they must realise that they are not voting for the status quo.   They are voting for what the EU intends to do in the future and what it intends to become – a United States of Europe.'

'David Cameron refused three times to say he would veto Turkey's entry into the European Union last night as he faced public anger over his failure to curb immigration.

Appearing on a special Question Time, the Prime Minister repeatedly ducked the question, claiming there was no prospect of the country becoming a member in the near future.

He claimed the issue was 'the biggest red herring in this referendum debate' and that voting to leave for fear of Turkish entry would be a 'crazy thing to do'. But given three clear opportunities to say he would use his veto to stop it, he declined to do so.'
