That's a first - in 36 years
For the first time since the start of the professional era of tennis and world rankings, the world's top eight male players have made it to the quarter finals in an ATP Tour or grand slam tournament. It's happened at the Montreal Masters where Roger Federer (1) will play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (7), Andy Murray (3)will play Nikolay Davydenko (8), Novak Djokovic (4) will play Andy Roddick (5), Rafa Nadal (2) will play Juan Martin del Potro (6). In fact there is another oddity, not sure if it's a first though, all eight quarter-finalists are from different countries - Switzerland, France, UK, Russia, Serbia, USA, Spain, Argentina in the same order as above. Interesting, now can the top four get through to the semi-finals? Federer almost certainly, Murray and Nadal likewise, but I think Roddick may defeat Djokovic.
