Barack Obama 2006 and 2013

2006

SEN. BARACK OBAMA: I have no doubt that General Hayden will be confirmed. But I am going to reluctantly vote against him to send a signal to this administration that even in these circumstances, even in these trying times, President Bush is not above the law. No President is above the law. I am voting against Mr. Hayden in the hope that he will be more humble before the great weight of responsibility that he has not only to protect our lives but to protect our democracy.
Americans fought a Revolution in part over the right to be free from unreasonable searches–to ensure that our Government could not come knocking in the middle of the night for no reason. We need to find a way forward to make sure we can stop terrorists while protecting the privacy and liberty of innocent Americans. We have to find a way to give the President the power he needs to protect us, while making sure he does not abuse that power. It is possible to do that. We have done it before. We could do it again.

'... this ugly episode on a wrestling mat in Italy was not, to be sure, merely an act of poor sportsmanship.  Mostafa is the product of a culture with anti-Jewish racism so pervasive  that the country's President could, with total impunity, refer to Jews as "sons of apes and pigs" andsermonize to parents  on the importance of "nursing their children" with Jew hatred.'

If the Six Day War hadn't happened...

From http://elderofziyon.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/if-six-day-war-hadnt-happened.html comes this brilliantly thought out set of questions :

' If the Six Day War hadn't happened...

Would there be a Palestinian Arab state today on the West Bank and Gaza?

Would Israel's Arab neighbors consider the 1949 armistice lines as "borders" today?

Would Jews would be allowed to visit their holy places in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hebron and elsewhere today?

Would Israelis in the Galilee be safe from fire coming from the Golan Heights today?

Would there have not have been another war of aggression mounted against Israel since then?

Would the Middle East would be a safer place today?

Would worldwide terror today be lessened?

Would the Palestinian Arab "refugee" problem have been solved by now?

Would Israel-haters hate Israel any less?

If the answers to all of these are "no," and they almost certainly are, then why does anyone think that Israel turning the clock back to early 1967 would improve things - today?'

Theresa May: Beggars and thieves from across the EU are flocking to the streets of Britain | Mail Online

'Speaking last night, Mrs May said: 'We are already taking tough action in this country to stamp out the abuse of free movement, to protect our benefits system and public services.

'We will not allow this country to be a soft touch but this isn't just a UK problem - it will take the joint efforts of all our EU partners to tackle it.'

It comes at a time of heightened tensions between the British government and the EU.

Last week, the European Commission announced it was taking Britain to court for insisting migrants pass a 'right to reside' test before they can access some State handouts.

Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, is planning to defy the EC and make existing restrictions even tougher.'

Now half of sham marriages involve foreign students: Members of bogus colleges who face being kicked out marry Britons and EU citizens to prolong their stay | Mail Online

'In a major new immigration scam, half of all bogus weddings now involve foreign students.

The revelation shows the full scale of the past abuse of the student visa system.

The non-EU nationals faced removal from Britain after their bogus colleges were shut down in a crackdown by the Government.

But, instead of returning home, they are arranging fake weddings with British nationals or EU citizens to prolong their stay, often paying thousands of pounds in fees to 'fixers'.

Under a Brussels edict, marrying an EU citizen can grant the same rights to stay as marrying a Briton.

Officials say the trend shows that the migrants' true reason for travelling to the UK in the first place was to settle, not  to study. Last year, they identified a suspected 2,000 sham marriages.'

This scam like the other immigration scams must be stopped, albeit it's too late.

John Kerry taks cr*p

'Now, some are wary because of Israel’s experience following the withdrawal of Gaza and Lebanon. You have no idea how many times I hear people say, “We withdrew from Lebanon, we withdrew from Gaza, and what did we get? We got rockets.” Well, folks, it’s worth remembering these withdrawals were unilateral. They were not part of a negotiated peace treaty that included strong guarantees for Israel’s security, and they certainly weren’t part of a peace agreement that agrees to be a demilitarized state or entity.'
That's from a speech made by US Secretary of State John Kerry and quoted in full on the US State Department website.

Is John Kerry, and thus the current US Administration, really saying that people can’t complain about rockets being fired at Israel from Gaza because Israel pulled out of Gaza without any guarantees of peace from Hamas?

Is John Kerry, and thus the current US Administration, really saying that the next tome will be different because Hamas can be trusted?

Has John Kerry, and thus the current US Administration, heard of the terms Taqqiya and Hudna?

Michael Adebolajo speaks

That's one of the Woolwich terror suspects, Michael Adebolajo, filmed in 2009 at a demonstration against the English Defence League in Harrow. A demonstration held on the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist atrocity. If you can't catch the words, here they are:
'Allahu akbar. There is no god but Allah, Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah. We are not scared of kuffar. My brothers, remain in your ranks and do not be scared of these filthy kuffar. They are pigs. They are worse than cattle. Allahu akbar. There is no god but Allah, Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah.'
Ah pigs and cattle, kuffar, the lovely way that Islamists speak about non-Muslims.Where have I heard that comparison in England before?

Pause the video at 1:35 and look to the left of the screen, do you spot the ‘Stop the Fascist BNP’ placard? Isn't that a slogan of Unite Against Fascism? Don't you just love lefties who claim to fight fascism but are happy to support Islamic fascists?

Thanks to The Mail for the video spot.

Censoring history lessons to stop Muslim children being offended

To the schools who hold back on the teaching about the holocaust in case learning of the deaths of millions of Jews offends Muslim pupils or their parents, we can now add this news:
'Out of consideration for immigrants of Turkish background teachers in a Vienna elementary school have been advised to no longer cover the topic in their teaching. Whoever does not comply is threatened with being transferred, reports the newspaper Krone. After all the Turks could feel insulted when they are reminded of their defeats. The Turkish wars are of major significance for Austrian history, however. Vienna alone twice faced major Turkish sieges - and beat back the attackers both times. Parents are angry about the initiative of the Vienna headmasters; even the Krone speaks of a "falsification of history".'

You didn't know about the Turkish Islamic invasions of Austria? Not been taught about in British or American schools? Google it and do look at 1529 and 1683. So you know about the Crusades and how evil they were but not that the Crusades were a response to Islam's takeover of the Holy Land and have never learnt about the Islamic invasions of Europe; why do you think that might be?

The European Under 21 Championships

The European Under 21 Championships are being held in Israel. The BBC in their preview don't show a map of Israel so we can learn where the four venues are, this is unusual as I remember the BBC showing maps of previous tournament hosts. I'll leave you to decide why the BBC don't show a map of Israel.

The European Under 21 Championships in Israel are being played at four venues:
Bloomfield Stadium (Tel Aviv). Capacity 14,400 Netanya Stadium (Netanya). Capacity 13,800 HaMoshava Stadium (Petah Tivka). Capacity 11,500 Teddy Stadium (Jerusalem). Capacity 30,000

I'm sure most people have heard of Jerusalem, Israel's eternal capital and Tel Aviv which is Israel's largest city. Here's a little about the other two city venues. Netanya - Founded in 1928 after a Jewish group purchased 350 acres. Development was set back when the 1929 Palestine riots and massacres caused the settlement to be abandoned for a couple of weeks. Made vulnerable by its proximity (14 km, 9 mi) from the Palestinian city of Tulkarm, Netanya has suffered from numerous Palestinian attacks aimed at Israel, including, notably, an attack in March 2002 which has come to be known as the Passover Massacre. Not heard of the Passover Massacre? Learn something:
During the Jewish holiday of Passover in 2002, Park Hotel in the Israeli coastal city of Netanya held its traditional annual Passover seder (festive religious meal) for its 250 guests, in the hotel dining room located at the ground floor of the hotel. During this holiday many hotel guests were elderly Jews who didn't have family and relatives in Israel.
In the evening of 27 March 2002, a Palestinian suicide bomber disguised as a woman approached the hotel carrying a suitcase which contained powerful explosives. The suicide bomber managed to pass the security guard at the entrance to a hotel, then he walked through the lobby passing the reception desk and entered the hotel's crowded dining room. At 19:30 pm (GMT+2) the suicide bomber detonated the explosive device he was carrying. The force of the explosion instantly killed 28 civilians and injured about 140 people, of whom 20 were injured severely. Two of the injured later died from their wounds. Some of the victims were Holocaust survivors. Most of the victims were senior citizens (70 and over). The oldest victim was 90 and the youngest was 20 years old. A number of married couples were killed, as well as a father together with his daughter. One of the victims was a Jewish tourist from Sweden who was visiting Israel for Passover.
The plot for the Passover massacre included the use of cyanide; 4 kg of cyanide had been bought and prepared for a chemical attack.
Tarak Zidan had been recruited to Hamas, and during 1997 he researched the use of chlorine and other nerve agents to be used in terror attacks. In 2002, 4 kg of chlorine had been bought and packed for the attack. For an unknown reason it was not used and passed to Abbas al-Sayyid instead.
Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. The bomber was identified as Abdel-Basset Odeh, a 25-year-old from the nearby West Bank city of Tulkarm. Hamas claimed that the attack was specifically designed to derail momentum from a recently announced peace initiative of the Saudi Arabian government at the Beirut Summit
Since 2004 and the construction of Israeli West Bank barrier number of attacks decreased significantly in Netanya as in other major cities.

What's this got to do with football? Well in 2003, the Palestinian Authority sponsored a soccer tournament named the "Tulkarm Shahids Memorial soccer championship tournament of the Shahid Abd Al-Baset Odeh" describing the perpetrator as a "shahid" (Martyr).

By their murderous terrorist heroes you should judge them.

How about Petah Tikva? Contrary to the crap spread by the anti-Semites that there were no Jews in Israel before 1948, Petah Tikva was founded in 1878 by religious pioneers from Europe, who were led by Yehoshua Stampfer, Moshe Shmuel Raab, Yoel Moshe Salomon, Zerach Barnett, and David Gutmann, as well as Lithuanian Rabbi Aryeh Leib Frumkin who built the first house there.[3] It was the first modern Jewish agricultural settlement in Ottoman Palestine (hence its nickname as "Mother of the Moshavot") and has since grown to become one of Israel's most populous urban centres. During the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of World War I, Petah Tikva served as a refugee town for residents of Tel Aviv and Jaffa, following their exile by the Ottoman authorities due to their refusal to serve the Ottoman army to fight the invading British forces. The town suffered heavily as it lay between the Ottoman and British fronts during the war. The first recorded Arab attack on Jews in what would become Israel took place in Petah Tikva in 1886. Petah Tikva was also the scene of Arab rioting in May 1921, which left four Jews dead. And of course the killing continues... During the Second Intifada, Petah Tikva suffered three terrorist attacks: On May 27, 2002, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a small cafe outside a shopping mall, leaving two dead, including a baby; on December 25, 2003, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a bus stop near the Geha bridge, killing 4 civilians, and on February 5, 2006, a Palestinian got into a shuttle taxi, pulled out a knife, and began stabbing passengers killing two of them, but a worker from a nearby factory hit him with a log, subduing him.

There you go some background to the two lesser known Israeli venues for the 2013 European Under 21 Championships.

Oh and here's a map of Israel showing the four locations...

Woolwich and the dark underbelly of British Islam

MP Tom Watson speaks sense:
'And yet the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby overshadowed – or should have overshadowed – everything. The attack by adherents of a hateful and violent iteration of Islam was an awful reminder that Islamism remains, even 12 years after 9/11, the greatest threat to our way of life.

There are people living in this country who believe as an article of faith that it is acceptable, even necessary, to kill citizens of any country which has dared to attack a Muslim country. They believe that the kaffir, as they insultingly refer to non-believers, are of less value to their God than Muslims. They despise a culture which extends equal rights to women and gays, and scorn those women who dare to dress "immodestly" as whores.
...
I understand the reticence of those who see the word "Islamist" and are reluctant to condemn it because, well, it sounds a lot like "Islam", doesn't it? After criticising adherents of Islamism on Twitter, it doesn't take long for some oddball to accuse you of racism, either because they've misidentified the word or because they're stupid.

Uncomfortable though it is for some, we need to examine the dark underbelly of what goes on in some of our mosques. True, the vast majority of British Muslims would never associate themselves with Islamism. Yet preachers of hate as well as their followers and fellow travellers, worship in the same buildings, speak to, work with, and are related to that sensible majority.

And those law-abiding citizens have a duty to challenge them, expel them and, if necessary, report them to the authorities.

Calls for unity in the face of terrorism are correct and necessary. But that doesn't mean we ignore the real implications of a nauseating act of violence against a brave young man who served our nation in its defence.
Focusing on the EDL might salve the conscience of some, but it's a strategy that will come back to haunt us in the most awful way imaginable. '

Presumably the BBC's interest will not be raised as it's about Pakistan not India

Thank you BBC I really needed a laugh this morning and you provided me with one

The BBC reports with a straight face, as their second top story this morning, that:
'Ed Balls will pledge to end winter fuel allowances for richer older people in a speech, while promising "iron discipline" on spending
Ed Balls promising "iron discipline" on spending, come on that has to be a joke. Ed Balls, the man who as Gordon Brown's right hand man oversaw a massive increase in public spending is now promising "iron discipline"!

In case you've forgotten the profligate spending by the last Labour government, and the BBC/Labour alliance would rather you did forget it - they are certainly not going to remind you of it, here's some facts to remind you:

During the years 2001-2007, there was a sharp rise in government spending. In real terms, government spending increased from just over £400bn (2009 prices) to £618bn in 2008-09.

As a % of GDP Government spending also increased from 36% of GDP in 2000 to 46% of GDP by the end of 2008-09

This increase in government spending contributed to budget deficits and higher public sector debt.

During the period 2000-2007, the UK economy was growing strongly (at an average of around 2.5%). Therefore, the fact government spending as a % of GDP increased shows that the increase in government spending was at a greater rate than the increase in national income.

Health care spending. The biggest beneficiary of the government’s higher spending was health care. Health care spending almost doubled in real terms between 1999 and 2010

The BBC don't question Ed Balls's promise, provide no background as I have done, nothing... Ha ha ha, except it's not funny really, is it.

What choices for Christians in Syria?

'After the prayer walk Janssen had the opportunity to meet with Syrian Christian refugees, who told him how they came to flee their homes and villages.  Their village was occupied by rebel forces, who proceeded to announce that they were now under an Islamic emirate, and were subject to sharia law.
The Christian residents were offered four choices:

1. renounce the 'idolatry' of Christianity and convert to Islam;

2. pay a heavy tribute to the Muslims for the privilege of keeping their heads and their Christian faith (this tribute is known as jizya);

3. be killed;

4. flee for their lives, leaving all their belongings behind. Some Christians were killed, some fled, some tried to pay the jizyaand found it too heavy a burden to bear after the rebels kept increasing the amount they had to pay,  and some were unable to flee or pay, so they converted to Islam to save themselves.'

When you hear Palestinians say they want peace...

"Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations."

A tale of two hearts

The tale of two hearts is a fascinating study of the contrasts between Islamist savagery and Israeli compassion. Read it here http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/a-tale-of-two-hearts/

Almost more noteworthy is this extract from the same piece:
'There are of course many Arabs and Muslims who reject this culture of death. Many do so in words. Some have done so in powerful deeds. In March 1997, for example, a Jordanian soldier – Corporal Ahmed Daqamseh – opened fire on a group of Israeli schoolgirls visiting the Jordanian border. He killed seven schoolgirls and wounded six others before his rifle jammed.

A few days after the attack, King Hussein of Jordan did something extraordinary. He travelled to Israel to express his remorse. He actually knelt down before each of the grieving families. "Your daughter is like my daughter. Your loss is my loss," he told them. At that moment in time, peace – real peace – seemed possible.

Sadly, not all Jordanian's share the late King's heart. Speaking on Al Jazeera in 2001, Daqamseh's mother said, "I am proud of my son. My son did a heroic deed and has pleased Allah and his own conscience." Last month, over ninety percent of the members of the Jordanian Parliament – 110 out of 120 – signed a petition calling Daqamesh a "hero" and demanding a special pardon to release him.'

Which side are you on? Peace and compassion or war and hatred?

Gerald Warner: Wind of is change blowing

'The global warming hysteria began in the 1880s but was discredited when its prediction that CO2 would increase the mean global temperature by more than 1C by 1940 was not borne out. What gave it fresh life over the past two decades was the realisation by governments that it could provide a pretext for taxing citizens to unprecedented levels and by private entrepreneurs that government subsidies could supply a dripping roast. Of all the damage that politicians have inflicted on the public, the "green" scam has been among the most extreme.

The Renewables Obligation, introduced in Scotland in 2002, was scheduled to end in 2027, by which time UK energy customers will have been robbed of £32 billion. It has now been extended to 2037 for new projects. By 2011 Ofgem confirmed that 10 per cent of every electricity bill went towards "renewables". Proliferating wind turbines are blighting the landscape despite being a wholly inefficient source of energy. Turbines operate at just 24 per cent of capacity – for more than a third of the time at only 10 per cent – and conventional power stations have to remain in service as backup: two energy systems pointlessly working in tandem.'

'Doctor Who star Matt Smith is to leave his role as the Doctor at the end of this year, the BBC has announced.

After four years as the Time Lord on the BBC One show, viewers will see Smith's Doctor regenerate in the 2013 Christmas special.

The 30-year-old actor said working on the show had been "the most brilliant experience".
Doctor Who marks its 50th anniversary in November with a special episode, which Smith has already filmed.

The BBC said Smith's "spectacular exit" was yet to be revealed and would be "kept tightly under wraps".'

Thanks BBC, not much of a surprise now and we'll done on keeping the regeneration 'tightly under wraps'.

Tony Blair says murder of Lee Rigby PROVES 'there is a problem within Islam' | Mail Online

I hate agreeing with Tony Blair but in this case, I do.
''There is a problem within Islam – from the adherents of an ideology which is a strain within Islam,' he writes.

'We have to put it on the table and be honest about it. Of course there are Christian extremists and Jewish, Buddhist and Hindu ones. But I am afraid this strain is not the province of a few extremists. It has at its heart a view about religion and about the interaction between religion and politics that is not compatible with pluralistic, liberal, open-minded societies.

He adds: 'At the extreme end of the spectrum are terrorists, but the world view goes deeper and wider than it is comfortable for us to admit. So by and large we don't admit it.''

BBC Watch has a story that you'll never find on the anti Israel BBC.
'On June 10th 1948 Mishmar HaYarden finally fell to the Syrian army. Fourteen of its defenders had been killed and the twenty-nine men and women who remained were taken prisoner by the Syrians. They remained prisoners of war for thirteen months until the Armistice Agreement was signed in 1949. Once released, they found that they had nowhere to return to: their village of 58 years had been razed to the ground by the Syrians. '

The truth about the 'wave of attacks on Muslims’ after Woolwich murder - Telegraph

'Loathsome as the white extreme Right is, however, there is clearly no comparison. No one in Britain has been killed by the EDL; 53 people have been killed by Islamist terrorists. White racists, unlike their Islamist equivalents, do not control key religious institutions or have a significant presence in British universities.
Over the past decade, half a dozen or so white British Right-wingers have been convicted of possessing explosives and other weapons. But all were loners not acting in concert with any group.

In contrast, there have, over the same period, been 150 convictions for Islamist-related terrorism in the UK, many relating to serious, carefully organised, often multinational plots against specific targets involving substantial numbers of people
I'm awaiting the BBC coverage of these figures. I'll wait in vain as these don't fit the BBC's agenda.

Apartheid state of Israel?

I am sick of hearing from the ignorant that Israel is an apartheid state. Here's an Israel Arab with the truth.

I don't expect the idiots who scream that Israel is an apartheid state, to recognise the truth. Truth is not something that interests them, they prefer hatred of Israel, something that is too often based on anti-Semitism, albeit disguised as Pro-Palestinian sentiment.

Any BBC coverage? Don't be daft!

The Hague: No Memorial Plaque for Jews Killed in the Holocaust out of Fear of Muslim Reactions

'The Paul Kruger School in The Hague was, under the Nazi occupation, a high school for Jewish children who had to leave other schools by Nazi orders.

According to one of the teachers in the school, they prepared a design of the plaque, but decided not to go ahead with it after they received reactions that Muslim people now living in the neighborhood didn't consider it acceptable.

All of this came to light when there was an Open Day at the school on National Memorial Day, May 4. On that day, a number of lectures about the war were held in the school. The announcement for it was not hung outside out of fear that stones would be thrown through the school's windows.'

More here http://europenews.dk/en/node/68166

The really important question is why would Muslims find commemorating the Holocaust so annoying? Is it because they still deny that the Holocaust happened? Is it because they hate the Jews so much that they do not want to be reminded that there was a large community of Jews in The Netherlands before they were killed by the Nazis?

If it's the last of these reasons, is that because it reminds them that in the Second World War one of the leaders of the Middle East Muslims, the Mufti of Jerusalem, sided with Hitler and the Nazis?

Mothballing F-117s

Due to sequestration the US Air Force has begun to mothball several squadrons of F117 Stealth Fighters in the Arizona Desert. This is the first F-117 to be parked.

Muslim writer touts Israeli tolerance of minorities

The apartheid state of Israel exposed!

"This country does not fit the description of an apartheid state," says author Qanta Ahmed in visit to Israel.

British author Dr. Qanta Ahmed spoke on Wednesday at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem about the difficulties for minorities in Islamic societies and how Israel is the only country in the Middle East that tolerates them.

...

Ahmed is a British sleep-disorder specialist working in New York State, whose parents came from Pakistan after moving there from India.

She visited Israel for the first time and gave a lecture at the symposium on Wednesday evening dealing with radicalization and minority persecution in the Islamic world.

The rise of political Islam that has been particularly pronounced as a result of the Arab uprisings is a threat to minorities and to Muslims who do not agree with the ascendent radical ideology, Ahmed said.

The persecution of Christians and other minorities is not getting the attention it deserves from the mainstream media, she said, adding that only a Muslim like her can get away with criticizing Islamic societies without being castigated as a bigot.

Israel does not fit the description of an apartheid state and instead, the media ignores the real problem, which is in the Muslim world, she said.

Illustrating this point, she said that it was only when she went to enter al-Aksa Mosque that she was asked to prove she was a Muslim in order to enter. She did so by reciting the shahada – the Muslim declaration of faith, that states there is one God and that Muhammad is his prophet.

“This is the first time I gave this talk in the Middle East and the only place in the region where I can give this talk and go home afterwards,” Ahmed said. She added that the boycott of next month’s President’s Conference in Jerusalem by British scientist Stephen Hawking is misplaced as he never boycotted Pakistan despite its deplorable human rights record, including its persecution of minorities.'

One man who Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas keeps in office

'"Praise Allah who honored us and designated us to be in Ribat (religious war defending or liberating "Islamic" land) until Judgment Day, until the dawn of freedom and national independence shine [on us]... On behalf of all those who fell as Martyrs or were wounded, we salute the heroic fighter, the self-sacrificing Salam Al-Zaghal from the Tulkarem District, whose honor and pride would not let him remain silent, consenting to the settlers' aggression against him in his vehicle. He insisted on defending his honor, so he went against the settler and killed him. Blessings to the breast that nursed Salam Al-Zaghal." '

Because praising a terrorist murderer of an Israeli Jew is no rreason to be sacked.

'Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has failed to take action after a bipartisan collation of lawmakers called on him earlier this month to fire a senior official who honored a Palestinian terrorist for murdering an Israeli civilian. Abu al-Einein, a former Abbas adviser who currently heads the Palestinian Council for NGO Affairs, was caught on film praising the Palestinian who stabbed an Israeli father of five to death while he was waiting for a ride home'

Thought you'd get free care if you fell sick in Spain?

Why does Israel shoot at members of the Press?

The answer, at least according to this video, is quite simple - Palestinian terrorists use the Press as cover.

It is inconceivable that the British and American Media don't know that this goes on, so I can only assume that they don't report it because they are anti-Israel.

Is this an example of the BBC's inability to meet a self-imposed deadline?

To defeat Islamic terror, we must first acknowledge what it is | Melanie Phillips (part 2)

'Now the Prime Minister says he will crack down on such extremism. Yet after the Woolwich atrocity, he claimed it was 'a betrayal of Islam' and that 'there is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act'.

The London Mayor Boris Johnson went even further, claiming: 'It is completely wrong to blame this killing on the religion of Islam' and that the cause was simply the killers' 'warped and deluded mindset'.

Yet the video footage of the killers — who had shouted 'Allahu Akhbar' when butchering Drummer Rigby — records one of them citing verses in the Koran exhorting the faithful to fight and kill unbelievers, and declaring: 'We swear by Almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you.'

Frankly, these comments by the Prime Minister and London Mayor were as absurd as saying the medieval Inquisition, for example, had nothing to do with the Catholic Church, but was just the product of a few warped and deluded individuals.

Their comments were also deeply troubling. For if politicians refuse to acknowledge the true nature of this extremism, they will never counter it effectively.

But then, government officials have always refused to admit that this is a religious war. They simply don't understand the power of religious fanaticism.'

To defeat Islamic terror, we must first acknowledge what it is | Melanie Phillips

'The Government has been extraordinarily reluctant to do this — because it refuses to face the blindingly obvious fact that this extremism is religious in nature.

It arises from an interpretation of Islam which takes the words of the Koran literally as a command to kill unbelievers in a jihad, or holy war, in order to impose strict Islamic tenets on the rest of the world.'

Asghar Khan: India An Imagined Enemy - YouTube

Pakistani General admits that Pakistan started every war with India and that the threat to Pakistan of. India is imaginary.

'Asghar Khan - former Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, Chairman of the Tehrik-e-Istaqlaal political party, and a man renowned for his integrity and clarity - argues against the official anti-India ideology of Pakistan.

He explains how: (a) India does not constitute a national threat and has no interest in swallowing Pakistan; (b) all wars between the two countries were started by Pakistan; (c) the Maharaja of Kashmir may not have acceded to India had Pakistan negotiated with him seriously; (d) the 1971 war was sheer lunacy in military terms on account of the long lines of communication; (e) unlike India, Pakistan does not need nuclear weapons; (f) nuclear program represents a grave danger to the national security of Pakistan; and (g) the country is paying a heavy economic price for its atomic program. This interview was recorded in 2009 by Dawn.'

Don't expect any reporting of this on BBC who try to find fault with India as much as possible whilst protecting Pakistan from criticism. The BBC's Asian services full of people of Pakistani descent. Also Pakistan is Islamic state and therefore beyond criticism at pro Islamic BBC.

Average Palestinian Attacker Just 12-14 Years Old, IDF Colonel Says | Jewish & Israel News Algemeiner.com

When you hear the anti Semites who masquerade as pro Palestinians decrying Israel's arresting of Palestinian children, remember this:
' IDF Colonel Yaniv Alaluf said that the average Palestinian attacker behind recent rock and firebomb attacks on Israeli drivers is only "12-14 years old," Israel National News reported.

At a meeting in the Etzion region in Judea and Samaria, Alaluf met with residents to address concerns over the increase in rock and firebomb attacks on drivers in the region.

A report from Israel's domestic security agency, the Shin Bet, revealed there were 90 attacks on Jewish residents in Judea and Samaria in April, up slightly from 101 in March. Most of these attacks were firebombs or the planting of roadside bombs, Haaretz reported.

Alaluf said many people beg soldiers not to arrest the teenage attackers "because they have tests in school the next day."'

Are 'settlements' the main or even just the primary block to peace?

'An average reader of this article would go away convinced that building in communities in Judea & Samaria is the main issue preventing a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. So let's take a look at just some of what the BBC has to airbrush out of its 'peace process' narrative, as presented in this article and many others, in order to promote that chimera to its audiences.

1. The Palestinian Authority's insistence on the 'right of return' for refugees: a scenario which would bring about the end of Israel as a Jewish state.

2. The Palestinian Authority's refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

3. The fact that Mahmoud Abbas does not hold a legitimate democratically elected mandate to sign any agreement on behalf of the Palestinian people.

4. The fact that part of the territory intended to be a Palestinian state is not controlled by the Palestinian Authority, but by a terrorist organization at war with Israel.

5. The fact that the 'international community' seems to be entirely at ease with the deliberate suspension of the rights of the Palestinian people to elect their leaders and representatives in order to keep the Palestinian Authority on 'life support' by postponing a Hamas take-over of the PA.

6. The fact that the Palestinian Authority engages in daily delegitimisation of Israel, incitement against the Israeli people and glorification of terror.'

Nearly Two-Thirds of Britons Expect a Serious Clash Between British (sic) Muslims | EuropeNews

'Nearly two-thirds of people believe there will be a 'clash of civilisations' between British Muslims and white Britons in the wake of the murder of a British soldier in Woolwich, a new poll shows.

The number of those who believe such a clash is inevitable has increased by 9% from last year.

There has also been a small increase in the proportion of people who believe British Muslims pose a serious threat to democracy, up to 34% on Thursday and Friday from 30% in November 2012, according to the YouGov survey of 1,839 adults.'

The time has come to admit the truth: The world cares more about the life of a Palestinian than the life of a Syrian, Sudanese, Kenyan, Colombian or Congolese.

'The time has come to admit the truth: The world cares more about the life of a Palestinian than the life of a Syrian, Sudanese, Kenyan, Colombian or Congolese.
...
An in-depth look at these two agencies reveals the depth of the international community's preferential treatment of Palestinian refugees over other displaced people throughout the world. The UNHCR, which cares for 33.9 million refugees and internally displaced people (IDP) in more than 125 countries throughout the world, has a budget of just $3 billion. UNWRA , which cares for the five million descendents of Palestinian refugees, has a budget of over $1 billion. Per person, that is $88.50 for each refugee/IDP around the world, and $200 for each Palestinian refugee.

 It gets worse.

The UNHCR has 7,685 staff members, with a staff-to-client ratio of 1:4,411. UNRWA has more than four times the staff. With 29,602 members, the organization boasts a staff-to-client ratio of 1:168.

Allow me to reiterate: The organization tasked with caring for the descendents of Palestinian refugees has 26 times more staff members per client than the organization tasked with caring for refugees and IDPs in the entire rest of the world put together.'

Why does the world 'care' so much more about Palestinian 'refugees' than those from Sudan, Congo or Syria? Is it because they can blame Jews for the Palestinians plight?

U.K. Beheading Shows: It's Time To Fight the Doctrine of Jihad - The Huffington Post

A fascinating article by Tarek Fatah in the Huffington Post

'As a Muslim, I can say without fear, the latest terror attack has a basis in Islam and it's time for us Muslims to dig our heads out of the sand.
...
The armed jihad launched against the infidels, is clearly promoted by the 20th-century writings of such Islamists as Syed Qutb and Hassan al-Banna of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood and the late Syed Maudoodi of Jamaat-e-Islami of Indo-Pakistan.In his book Towards Understanding Islam, Maudoodi exhorts ordinary Muslims to launch jihad, as in armed struggle, against non-Muslims. "Jihad is part of this overall defence of Islam," he writes. In case the reader is left with any doubt about the meaning of the word "jihad," Maudoodi clarifies:"In the language of the Divine Law, this word (jihad) is used specifically for the war that is waged solely in the name of God against those who perpetrate oppression as enemies of Islam. This supreme sacrifice is the responsibility of all Muslims."
...
Maudoodi goes on to label Muslims who refuse the call to armed jihad as apostates:"Jihad is as much a primary duty as are daily prayers or fasting. One who avoids it is a sinner. His every claim to being a Muslim is doubtful. He is plainly a hypocrite who fails in the test of sincerity and all his acts of worship are a sham, a worthless, hollow show of deception."If Maudoodi's exhortations are not enough to motivate Muslims to conduct acts of terror, we have the words of the late Hassan al-Banna being distributed in our schools and universities. Al-Banna makes it quite clear that the word "jihad" means armed conflict. He mocks those who claim jihad is merely an internal struggle.Al-Banna says this redefinition of the term "jihad" to depict it as a non-violent act of self-examination, is in fact a conspiracy so that "Muslims should become negligent."'

There's loads more to read and learn from in Tarek Fatah's article.

Anjem Choudary - "It is not allowed to target innocent people"

On the Channel 4 News tonight Anjem Choudary used this well worn line that in Islam "It is not allowed to target innocent people" and the interviewer seemed to accept this.

Unfortunately for Anjem Choudary, some of us have good memories. Here's Anjem Choudary from 2009:
"When we say innocent people we mean Muslims, as far as non-Muslims are concerned they have not accepted Islam and as far as we are concerned that is a crime against God... As far as Muslims are concerned, you are innocent if you are a Muslim, then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are a non-Muslim then you are guilty of not believing in God... I must have hatred to anything that is not Islam"
So when Anjem Choudary says that "It is not allowed to target innocent people" he meand "It is not allowed to target Muslim people, however targeting kufr is allowed."

Full video and transcript of UK jihadi murder suspect

I note that the British media seem to have been self censoring what the man with blood on his hands said to that video camera. Here's the whole of his speech, note the bit about being forced to do this by the Koran.

Why are the majority of the British media omitting this part of his speech from their reports?

'The only reason we have killed this man today is because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers. And this British soldier is one. It is an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. By Allah, we swear by the almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. So what if we want to live by the Shari'a in Muslim lands? Why does that mean you must follow us and chase us and call us extremists and kill us? Rather you lot are extreme. You are the ones that when you drop a bomb you think it hits one person? Or rather your bomb wipes out a whole family? This is the reality. By Allah if I saw your mother today with a buggy I would help her up the stairs. This is my nature. But we are forced by the Qur'an, in Sura At-Tawba, through many ayah in the Qu'ran, we must fight them as they fight us. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I apologise that women had to witness this today but in our lands women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your governments, they don't care about you. You think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start busting our guns? You think politicians are going to die? No, it's going to be the average guy, like you and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back so can all live in peace. So leave our lands and we can all live in peace. That's all I have to say. [in Arabic:] Allah's peace and blessings be upon you.'

But the vast majority of British Muslims...

The line that the vast majority of British Muslims are peaceful and oppose violent extremism is one that I have heard already following the Woolwich terrorist attack and no doubt will hear over and over again on the BBC. But is it true?

Rather than vain hope, let's look at some facts.

From The Telegraph in 2008 (my emphasis):
'The YouGov poll was conducted for the Right-wing think tank, the Centre for Social Cohesion, at 12 universities, including Imperial College and Kings College London. It also found:
  • 40 per cent support the introduction of sharia into British law for Muslims
  • a third back the notion of a worldwide Islamic caliphate (state) based on sharia law
  • 40 per feel it is unacceptable for Muslim men and women to mix freely
  • 24 per cent do not think men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah
  • a quarter have little or no respect for homosexuals.
Although 53 per cent said that killing in the name of religion was never justified, compared with 94 per cent of non-Muslims, 32 per cent said that it was. Of these, 4 per cent said killing could be justified to "promote or preserve" religion, while 28 per cent said it was acceptable if that religion were under attack.'

From The Telegraph in 2007:
'Forty per cent of Muslims between the ages of 16 and 24 said they would prefer to live under sharia law in Britain, a legal system based on the teachings of the Koran. The figure among over-55s, in contrast, was only 17 per cent.'

From The Guardian in 2006:
'The poll, by the Washington-based Pew Global Attitudes Project, asked Muslims and non-Muslims about each other in 13 countries. In most, it found suspicion and contempt to be mostly mutual, but uncovered a significant mismatch in Britain.

The poll found that 63% of all Britons had a favourable opinion of Muslims, down slightly from 67% in 2004, suggesting last year's London bombings did not trigger a significant rise in prejudice. Attitudes in Britain were more positive than in the US, Germany and Spain (where the popularity of Muslims has plummeted to 29%), and about the same as in France.

Less than a third of British non-Muslims said they viewed Muslims as violent, significantly fewer than non-Muslims in Spain (60%), Germany (52%), the US (45%) and France (41%).

By contrast, the poll found that British Muslims represented a "notable exception" in Europe, with far more negative views of westerners than Islamic minorities elsewhere on the continent. A significant majority viewed western populations as selfish, arrogant, greedy and immoral. Just over half said westerners were violent. While the overwhelming majority of European Muslims said westerners were respectful of women, fewer than half British Muslims agreed. Another startling result found that only 32% of Muslims in Britain had a favourable opinion of Jews, compared with 71% of French Muslims.'

From The Telegraph in 2006:
'Four out of 10 British Muslims want sharia law introduced into parts of the country, a survey reveals today.
The ICM opinion poll also indicates that a fifth have sympathy with the "feelings and motives" of the suicide bombers who attacked London last July 7, killing 52 people, although 99 per cent thought the bombers were wrong to carry out the atrocity.

...

...Twenty per cent felt sympathy with the July 7 bombers' motives '

A small minority we are told. Well according to the 2011 census there are some 2.7 million Muslims in the UK, 4.8% of the total population. Let's extrapolate:

20% feel sympathy with the July 7 terrorists -  540,000 people

68% don't have a favorable opinion of Jews - 1,836,000 people

Feeling reasssured?

Just re the matter of tolerance, here's something that I've never heard the BBC menbtion when discussing attitudes towards homosexuality in the UK.
From The Guardian in 2009 (my emphasis):
'Muslims in Britain have zero tolerance towards homosexual acts compared to their counterparts in France and Germany, according to a survey published today.

The Gallup poll features the results of telephone and face-to-face interviews with Muslims and non-Muslims in the UK, France and Germany and is designed to measure global attitudes towards people from different faith traditions.

It shows that British Muslims hold more conservative opinions towards homosexual acts, abortion, viewing pornography, suicide and sex outside marriage than European Muslims, polling markedly lower when asked if they believed these things were morally acceptable.

The most dramatic contrast was found in attitudes towards homosexuality. None of the 500 British Muslims interviewed believed that homosexual acts were morally acceptable. 1,001 non-Muslim Britons were interviewed.

By comparison, 35% of French Muslims found homosexual acts to be acceptable. '

So why are British Muslims more radical and extreme in their views than their counterparts in the rest of Europe? Maybe the universities are to blame:

From the first report I mentioned:
'The report's authors found that Islamic societies on campus, operating under the umbrella of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies, exert a strong influence on many of Britain's 90,000 Muslim students. A quarter of them belong to Islamic societies and their views are often more extreme.

While three-fifths of society members said that killing in the name of religion was acceptable, an equal number of non-member Muslims said it was never justified. The security services have identified Islamist activism at universities acts as a possible "gateway" to violent extremism. Several terrorists and sympathisers began their extremist careers on campuses.

The authors of the report, "Islam on Campus", lay much of the blame for extremism among Muslim students on the group Hizb ut-Tahrir, which seeks to build a worldwide Islamic state.

YouGov polled 600 Muslim students and 800 non-Muslim students at universities with a high number of Muslims.'

I'm sorry but 'London we have a problem'

Breathtaking hypocrisy at the United Nations

'GENEVA, May 22 – The annual assembly of the UN's World Health Organization adopted a resolution
and held a special debate today criticizing Israel — the only specific country on the organization's agenda — with Syria demanding urgent action on "inhuman Israeli practices" that target "the health of Syrian citizens."

The WHO resolution against Israel was not yet published, but was likely a copy of last year's condemnation
.
Observers of the world body in Geneva said the annual hypocrisy reached a new low this year.
"To see the Assad regime point the finger at Israel out of professed concern for the health of Syrians is, frankly, a sick joke," said Hillel Neuer, exectuive director of the Geneva-based UN Watch, a non-governmental monitoring group accredited to the UN.'

The cause of the attack remains a mystery?

When even the BBC report thus:
'1744:
Senior Whitehall sources have told the BBC that the Woolwich attackers are thought to have tried to film their attack whilst shouting "Allahu Akbar" - God is Great, says political editor Nick Robinson.
The Prime Minister is expected to speak to the Home Secretary at 18:15 BST from a train to Paris about what is now being treated by government as a suspected terrorist attack, Mr Robinson says.'
If this is true then can anyone seriously doubt that this was an Islamic terrorist  attack?

Presumably the cause will excused as being because of the British Army being in Afghanistan or due to the creation of the State of Israel.

However the real cause looks like Jihad.

UPDATE:
ITV news  are reporting:
'ITV News has obtained footage of a man with bloodied hands and carrying knives speaking into a camera in Woolwich.

He made a series of political statements.

"We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you," he said.'
I await the BBC's reporting of this news...

UPDATE 2:
ITV News  are now reporting:
'ITV News has obtained footage of a man with bloodied hands addressing a camera on a south London street.

He makes a series of political statements before walking towards a man, believed to be a soldier, lying prone on the street.

He then talks calmly to another man stood nearby.'
That ITV link has the video footage but the page seems to have problems, too much traffic?

UPDATE:
Could someone please correct the BBC, 'Allahu Akbar' does not translate as 'God is great' but is called Takbir in Arabic and means 'God is greater' or 'God is greatest'. It's also a cry that readers of this blog may have come across before.

Top 10 warning signs you may be a ‘Guardian Left’ anti-Semite from CiF Watch

Here's the first two:
' 1. You claim the mantle of human rights yet find yourself running interference  for anti-Semitic world leaders and helping to spread the propaganda of Islamist extremists  - and even terrorist leaders who openly call for the murder of Jews.

2.  You claim to condemn racism at every opportunity yet are strangely silent or seriously downplay even the most egregious examples of antisemitic violence.'

I wonder how many of these apply to certain people who I have crossed on Twitter?

It feels like the Right has split irrevocably - Telegraph

Something to worry any democrat.
'The prospect of PR should fill us with horror. It allows politicians to stitch up deals after the voters have had their say and denies the country strong government at moments of crisis. But if neither Labour nor the Tories are capable of commanding a broad sweep of public opinion on polling day, it is where we are headed.'

The funniest Blackadder exchange?

General Melchett: Is this true, Blackadder? Did Captain Darling pooh-pooh you? Captain Blackadder: Well, perhaps a little. General Melchett: Well, then, damn it all! What more evidence do you need? The pooh-poohing alone is a court martial offense! Captain Blackadder: I can assure you, sir, that the pooh-poohing was purely circumstantial. General Melchett: Well, I hope so, Blackadder. You know, if there's one thing I've learnt from being in the Army, it's never ignore a pooh-pooh. I knew a Major, who got pooh-poohed, made the mistake of ignoring the pooh-pooh. He pooh-poohed it! Fatal error! 'Cos it turned out all along that the soldier who pooh-poohed him had been pooh-poohing a lot of other officers who pooh-poohed their pooh-poohs. In the end, we had to disband the regiment. Morale totally destroyed... by pooh-pooh!

Or do you disagree.

Eddie Braben R.I.P

Eddie Braben, the man whose writing made Morecambe and Wise what they were, has died aged 82.

The complete Andrew Preview sketch! Andre Previn plays his part so well in this sketch.

The breakfast routine, I don't know if Eddie Braben had any input into this routine but it's sheer brilliance.

I grew up on Morecambe and Wise, and will happily watch repeats to this day.

Have you heard of Husby?

If you rely upon the BBC for your news then you won't have. The BBC show seven articles with mentions of Husby, none more recent than June 2012 and all seven relating to people with the surname Husby in the Breivik story. If you click on the 'Elsewhere on the web' link though you get some rather more up to date stories. For there has been some major rioting going on in Husby, a suburb of Stockholm, for a few days now. The BBC's top link is to the Huffington Post which manages to avoid the elephant in the room with a story just talking of 'youths' and 'immigrants' although they did drop a clue with their choice of spokesman for the 'community', one Rami Al-Khamisi from the organization Megafonen, 'which represents citizens in Stockholm's suburbs.'

The Australian Herald Sun has a rather more informative headline 'From the streets of Muslim Sweden' .

100 or more cars torched and the streets of part of a European city filled with flames and blood but the BBC just don't want to tell us, why?

Ray Manzarek R.I.P

The keyboardist with The Doors, Ray Manzarek, has passed away aged 74. Yet another victim of cancer. I loved the music of the Doors from my mid teens, here's a few of their best tracks.

'Light My Fire'

'Riders On The Storm' - the last song recorded by The Doors before Jim Morrison's death

'The End'- Because for Ray Manzarek it is.
