England v Australia Rugby World Cup Quarter Final

Keep it tight England, very very tight and no mistakes.

22 drop out means a chance to clear the ball so don't try and be clever and then lose the ball.

Closer than I expected, Mike Catt is playing well in the centre, very calm and intelligent player.

Robinson... nearly...

Australia look a little nervous, unlike their cricket team I am not sure if they like being favourites against England.

Now Jonny make the 3 points and it's level... oh yes...

More Australian mistakes at the lineout and the scrum and 3 more possible points for Jonny and it's 6:3... and it is I wish I was there, but a certain fiend didn't get me a ticket!

England have started to believe, keep it tight, Australia lose composure again...

Swing Low Sweet Chariot rings out - a bit premature I feel - Australia are still favourites to win in my book.

Jonny again? No.......

Still 6:3, must score every time England get within 35 yards of the Australia line.

Robinson's kicking is as poor as ever...

Latham is an elegant runner

This looks like an Australian try coming... slowly though... they are almost as ponderous as England but eventually a try and conversion 10:6 Australia

England need 3 points from the next attack to keep it close

Nice short lineout but Simon Shaw's hands ar enot the best for the return ball...

Nasty tackle on Sackey whilst he was airborne, no injury caused and good territory gained... Must get at least 3 points here I think a try could be hard to get... Penalty attempt - 1 point down at half time would be way way way better than England would have hoped... Nooooooooo missed another, 4 points down still...

Nearly half time and Australia in England half, England have to get forward and try for 3 points...

Half Time 10:6

We are off again and the news at half time from my friend with a ticket in Marseilles is that it is very hot there , will the England pack stand the pace for another 40+ minutes? Will England bring on some replacements in the pack?

Agh, Catt is injured - he is the man as far as I am concverned... His midfield brains and kicking are important...

Another handling error from England... fired at Jonny by Tait...

Lovely turning kick by Catt, not bad for a middle aged man - 36!

Dallaglio warming up, nearly a kick through try there for England....Moody is really getting in the Aus faces off the scrum...

Pressure the Aus scrum now... referee has sussed that the Aus front row are not pushing and only a <10 metre lineout, 3 points minimum now... Catch and driveover try?

We had a man spare there!!! But penalty given in front of posts... Jonny is down though and back up... This would make it 10:9 if only he makes it, come on Jonny... phew! 10:9

Australia look to have a coupke of tries within them, England not so...

Drop goal missed by Latham...

Too tight to watch and commentate on...

Wobbly Wallabies, and we have put in... need to score here, as previously "every visit"...

Take the 3 or tap penalty? 3 points... please...yes...

12:10 England!

Australia.. Barnes looks nervous...missed by a way there....

That was a definite try but Sackey saw the threat of 4:1

Penalty to England, shame no yellow card

Catt off, Flood on - the end od an era for English rugby - a Newcastle midfield, I'd be happier with Catt's brain.

I missed the 2003 final, spent it on a plane, a very nervous flight with just 15 minute updates, plance shook a bit when the England win was announced!

Moody off is bad news, Worsely is not the same type of player...

Good kick by Flood

Australian drops the ball, Worsely tackle but Jonny misses the drop goal that would have been good...

Australia look so strong and likely to score but England are keeping the pressure up so well...

Swing Low Sweet Chariot again...

Nice to see a bearded England Rugby player... Dallaglio comes on, keep it tight...

Has Gregan got the slowest put in in World Rugby? Mind you the Australian scrum is so weak that it cannot be easier... I think England like the scrum ...

What would be the bigger shock Argentina beating France or England beating Australia?

3 crap kicks in a row there, Flood, Latham and Gommarsall and we're back defending...

Australia are making lots of changes, some tired men out there

England surely cannot hold on for another 8 minutes, can they?

Penalty to England! "George Gregan is being mollested at the breakdown", probably the "camp" top that is encouraging it!

Swing Low Sweet Chariot again... Jonny has a 50 metre penalty, but he hasn't been kicking that well this match...

Come on................................NOOOO

Blimey, Robinson doe make a good kick...

5 minutes to go... but Australia re like Man U they play to the bitter end...

Butterflies have started now, nerves...

4 minutes...

Australia penalty, Mortlock to take the kick from 50 metres and if he misses there'll be little time ledt to defend BUT if he scores it's an Australia win...

He missed!!!

Too much tension, 90 seconds...Scrum to Australia - push boys push... Could be the last play...

Watch out for drop goal...

Inside the last minute...

This is incredible...

Lineout- 15 seconds to go...

No...

DEFEND...

HOW THE HELL DID WE DO THAT!!!

I feel a visit to Earls Court coming on......

Shane Warne, Donn Bradman, Ian Thorpe, Cathy Freeman, Evonne Goolagong, Lleyton Hewitt, John Howard, your boys took a hell of a beating!

Swing Low Sweet Chariot
