In my article about Al Gore's winning of the Nobel Peace Prize along with the UN panel, I finished "I note that the aforementioned BBC report does not mention the recent court case, probably an accidental omission! " Now thanks to Devils Kitchen I have seen an internal BBC memo from Roger Harrabin, their Environment Analyst, it reads:
"From Roger Harrabin
BBC Environment Analyst
In any future reporting of Gore we should be careful not to suggest that the High Court says Gore was wrong on climate.......
We might say something like: "Al Gore whose film was judged by the High Court to have used some debatable science" or "Al Gore whose film was judged in the High Court to be controversial in parts".
The key is to avoid suggesting that the judge disagreed with the main climate change thesis."
Why must they be careful not suggest the High Court said Gore was wrong, the court actually said that some of the claims were wrong and listed nine significant errors.
The suggestion of the phrase "some debatable science" is interesting and ... wrong.
"The key is to avoid suggesting that the judge disagreed with the main climate change thesis." Now that would be just too painful for the BBC to admit, wouldn't it. Maybe we could all keep an eye open for Roger Harrabin doing outside broadcasts and ask him why he thinks he is an expert on Man Made Climate Change.
