The Welsh are more passionate about rugby
That is the alleged reason why the BBC have said that only international games featuring Wales should be given the protected status that ensures they are shown live on terrestrial TV. Have the BBC ever been to Twickenham or The Stoop? I suppose English rugby union is too hideously white and middle class for the BBC to want to cover.

Utter rubbish. There are quite a few black England rugby players just now. As for "middle class" head to the West Country or Cotswalds etc, where people of all classes play it.
On the other hand, the "people's game" of football is played by millionaires, and run by billionaires...
I was referring to the BBC's perception of the supporters not mine of the players.
