I don't normally quote from the Daily Mirror but in this case I'll make an exception. The Mirror reports:
The line that sums up the NHS fanatics is this one - "People tend to want to protect their own hospital regardless of if it's safe or not." - 'True Dat' as they say!
'Hospital whistle-blower Julie Bailey has become the target of hate mail and death threats.
Julie, 49, highlighted appalling care, abuse and blunders after her 86-year-old mother died at Mid-Staffordshire Hospital after a routine hernia op.
A public inquiry said between 400 and 1,200 patients died needlessly at the hospital.
But since setting up pressure group Cure The NHS she has been threatened, harassed and a Facebook group said the the windows of her Stafford cafe would be smashed.
She said: “This is what happens to NHS whistle-blowers. People want to protect their hospital, regardless of whether it’s safe or not.”
Shockingly, the Labour Party were forced to apologise to Ms Bailey after a video appeared on their
website joking about her dying.
In an interview by a Labour activist with a member of the public, a man says: "My wife said she hopes she [Ms Bailey] needs A&E and has to go to Stoke and dies on the way."
Ms Bailey said she had also received dozens of hate mail and silent nuisance phone calls.
A Facebook group has also been set up calling for the windows of her caf to be smashed.
Ms Bailey said: "This is what happens to whistleblowers in the NHS and that, technically, is what I am.
"People tend to want to protect their own hospital regardless of if it's safe or not.
"I've had lots of anonymous phone calls and messages on the internet calling for my business to be vandalised.
"I used to be up at two or three in the morning on a regular occurrence answering calls from nuisance callers."
Ms Bailey has now reported the abuse to the police who are investigating.
This week bosses at the hospital closed the A&E unit overnight due to staff shortages.
They said all the bad publicity had led to doctors leaving and problems recruiting new staff.'
