BBC news priorities

The 7pm BBC Radio 4 news bulletin is less than two minutes long and usually covers just five or six major stories in expanded headline form. I have noticed that this bite size news broadcast is often indicative of the particular narratives that the BBC is trying to push on that day. This bulletin quite often squeezes in an anti-Israel piece thus keeping up the narrative that Israel is uniquely evil, especially in its treatment of the Palestinians. I was interested yesterday to hear that the news of Israel's Ambassador being summoned to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office for a dressing down was accorded such prominence in the news. Oddly the deaths of another 115 people in Syria over the weekend seemed of no interest to the BBC.
