Some mistake surely (part 2)

This Double Viking site appeared after a browse of Guyism and the promise at the top of the site seems to pretty much disproved by one of the sections below.
'This is Double Viking's personal collection of hot girls in the wild. We do not host any images of celebrities, models or magazine scans. Only 100% real girl next door types.'
Anna Kournikova is surely a celebrity and a model, well she's not a tennis player any more, and if she's the girl next door then she must have moved in very recently!

Anyway Anna Kournikova turned 30 on Tuesday, so Happy Birthday Anna.

Interesting woman Anna Kourikova; body of a model, face of Boris Yeltsin.

I think they mean 'publicity' not 'controversy'

'Rihanna kiss stuns audience

Popstar courts controversy after kissing Britney Spears live on stage'
Oh come on guys, surely you must have noriced that girl singers have been known to indulge in a bit of in public 'girl on girl' action to get publicity - hey it works!

Gwyneth Paltrow says the c-word

Gwyneth Paltrow on the US Chelsea Lately chat show, trying to be a bad girl.

Rapping (?) on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Actually singing well on the Ellen DeGeneres show

Charlie Sheen down one 'goddess'

I hear that Charlie Sheen Adult has lost one of his 'goddesses' as film star Rachel 'Bree' Olson has sent him a short text message saying she wanted to end the two month long relationship.

Rachel 'Bree' Olson, 24, has been by Charlie Sheen's side, and elsewhere, since he was fired from 'Two and a Half Men' and has been part of his 'Torpedo of Truth' tour along with the other goddess, Natalie Kenly.

Just to put this into context here's Charlie Sheen plus Rachel Olson, Nathalie Kenly and ex-wife Brroke Mueller...

And because I found this photo whilst 'researching' this article, here's Rachel 'Bree' Olson and two other women friends of Charlie Sheen keeping hold of their assets...

Poor old Charlie!

Imogen Thomas - the name rings a bell

I seem to remember that I watched the Big Brother series that Imogen Thomas was in so I remember her like this...

In recent days the name has been popping up all over Twitter and the Internet in association (pun intended) with a married Premiership Footballer. I have tried very briefly to see who the footballer is and three names seem to crop up most often, but to be honest I really can't get excited at the story. What was interesting is that Imogen Thomas seems to have... changed a little, well a lot...
It seems that whilst I had lost track of Imogen Thomas her career had taken off albeit in publications that I very rarely or never read (per Wikipedia):
'Since her time on the Big Brother series ended, Thomas has become a glamour model. She has had covergirl shoots with Zoo and Maxim magazines, while she had long running contracts with the Daily Star newspaper. Thomas was in the running for FHM sexiest Woman in the world, coming in 58th. In 2008, she was included in the list of Playboy Bunnies on Playboy's website. In 2010 she shot her first calendar.

In November 2006, Thomas was voted the sexiest Woman in Wales, ahead of both Catherine Zeta Jones and Charlotte Church. Thomas has also been voted the sexiest Big Brother housemate.

...

Thomas had a relationship with American model Tyson Beckford, whom she first met at the Sanderson Hotel. Since her apperance on Big Brother she has dated Russell Brand, polo player Jamie Morrisson, and footballers Matthew Collins of Swansea City, and Tottenham Hotspur's Jermain Defoe. In 2010/11, Thomas had a six month relationship with an unnamed married Premiership footballer, who obtained via Mr Justice Eady a super-injunction so that he could not be named in the press. Thomas subsequently took advice from Max Clifford whereby her story was then published in The Mirror.'

It is odd how some pretty women often seem to have this career path now: reality show, some body remodelling, glamour modelling for papers and lads mags, date a succession of footballers & other celebrities and then marry one or sell their story via Max Clifford. It's not a career that I could follow but is it really any less worthwhile than being an estate agent for example?

Sorry I was wrong

Last week I tried to predict the date of the upcoming royal wedding. My prediction was based on the assumption that '...they want to try and have a sunny day' thus 'it will have to be no earlier than late May, no later than early September and preferably not in August when most of the wealthy decamp to their holiday homes in the Dordogne or Tuscany.

So my predictions did not start until the end of May whilst William and Kate/Katherine have plumped for 29 April.

So my predictions were way out and for that I apologise.

Moving on to look at 29 April, my first thought was that that was not a good day for a wedding being the day (in 1945) that Adolph Hitler married Eva Braun, they committed suicide the following day.

Wikipedia informs me that 29 April 2011 will be Jerry Seinfeld's 56th birthday, Daniel Day Lewis's 54th, Phil Tufnell's 45th and Uma Thurman & Andre Agassi's 41st - so that's part of the invitation list sorted out.

Trinny and Susannah - What they did next

"For more from Trinny and Susannah What They Did Next visit iVillage"

More on iVillage every Monday to Thursday for four weeks from Monday June 21. Yes it is a spoof, but looks like a good one.

And here's a strangely erotic image from their ITV series...

Thanks to The Mail for the spot.

An end to celebrity culture, my arse!

The great Clunking Idiot has once again tried to get in on the Celebrity Game by attempting to appear on Match of the Day 2. The Guardian has the story:
"Downing Street asked if Brown could appear in the MOTD2 studio alongside the presenter, Adrian Chiles, and pundits, who include Lee Dixon, towards the end of last year. The prime minister's advisors wanted him to talk about England's bid for the 2018 World Cup, but after taking advice, the show's production team declined.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "We made the judgment it wouldn't be appropriate in the run-up to the election"."

I think you can judge what my reaction to this story is going to be, so let's instead look at three comments form Guardian readers:
"* Northumberland

Downing Street asked if Brown could appear in the MOTD2 studio alongside the presenter, Adrian Chiles

Is there anything this bloke won't do to ingratiate himself to the public. What next, tight pants, shirt unbuttoned down to the navel and a guest appearance on Dancing on Ice? What a tosser....

*outofbubble outofbubble

What a desperate twat.

Gordon Brown once claimed claim that his favourite goal of all time was scored by Paul Gascoigne for England versus Scotland.

He would be the only Raith Rovers supporter in history whose favourite goal was scored by England (never mind the fact that it was against Scotland).

Or, rather more likely, he is a liar who will say anything his handlers tell him, no matter how ridiculous it is.

Do you think he is listening to a lot of Arctic Monkeys at the moment?"

Celebrity Big Brother oddity

I don't watch Big Brother any more and Celebrity Big Brother leaves me cold but I am ashamed to admit that I like to watch the 'celebrities' go into the House, just to see if I recognise any of them. Quite a string of the past it, the never were, the never will be and the who? Apart from Vinnie Jones & Stephanie Beacham I don't think I'd have recognised any of the others without being told who they were. Basshunter I remembered from Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Heid Fleiss's face I remembered from the papers way back when I was told who they were. Dane Bowers I have heard of but wouldn't recognise from the porn tape. Stephen Baldwin I feel I should recognise but he seems to have changed somewhat since The Usual Suspects. Alex & Katia, sorry but I don't follow the celebrity gossip mags. Lady Sovereign and Sisco have thankfully not impacted on my musical radar and Page 3 girls pas me by.

The only interesting thing last night and I don't know if it was set-up to generate publicity was the exchange between ex-Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and Stephen Baldwin: Heidi Fleiss greeted Stephen Baldwin with "I've seen you before." to which he replied "It's been a long time.".... interesting, but only for a few minutes.

I shall not be watching Celebrity Big Brother again this year.

The worst song of 2009?

Just flicking through the TV and came across Cheryl Cole and Will.I.Am. "singing" Three Words. I presume this is not a joke song and if so it must be up there for the worst song of 2009. Tuneless, talentless and without any redeeming features.

The interview is almost as cringe-worthy, is Cheryl trying to make Ashley Cole jealous.

Here's the video, judge for yourselves...

Gordon Brown hard at work tackling the important issues

I note that Gordon an "end to celebrity culture" has once again felt the need to modify his position on a deeply important question. Apparently
"Gordon Brown has admitted that he regrets the way he worded his recent criticism of X Factor duo John & Edward.

Earlier this month, the Prime Minister branded the pair "not very good" as he discussed the ITV1 talent show in a radio interview.

Speaking on This Morning today, Brown admitted: "I got into a bit of a problem because I said I did not think they were very good at singing - but they are very good at other things.

"I don't know who's going to win, but I rather burned my boats with Jedward."

After confirming that he would like the twins to "do well", the politician added that he and his young sons are supporters of the programme's last remaining female act Stacey Solomon.

Brown also said that his children enjoy Danyl Johnson's performances, but mistakenly referred to the teacher as "Daryl"."
I wonder how much foucus grouping was done to come up with an answer that compliments so many and plumps for the only female contestant left? This smacks of a repeat of "biscuitgate".

Meanwhile I heard yesterday that Boris Johnson when asked about who he wanted to win some reality show, or some other equally puerile question, replied along the lines that he didn't watch the programme and did that really reduce his credibility. Well said Boris; most of these programmes are utter drivel and any politician that desperate to appear one of the people that they pretend to like these programmes deserves nothing but disdain.

No John Barrowman, no!

I switched on the television tonight and there was some celebrity reality show Around The World In 80 Days on with John Barrowman and Myleene Klass in a car. Not really noteworthy or interesting except at that moment John Barrowman proudly told Mylene Klass that TARDIS stood for "Time And Relative Dimensions In Space"

No, no, no: TARDIS stands for "Time And Relative Dimension In Space"

Do these celebrities learn nothing?!

For no real reason here's a picture of The TARDIS and also of Myleene Klass...

Oh OK and one of John Barrowman, although he really doesn't deserve it for that mistake...

Farrah Fawcett RIP

Farrah Fawcett probably the pin-up actress of my era passed away yesterday. Because a major celebrity died shortly afterwards, her death will go pretty much unremarked upon, which is a shame.

In 1978 Playboy magazine called Ms. Fawcett “the first mass visual symbol of post-neurotic fresh-air sexuality.” She herself put it more plainly: “When the show got to be No. 3, I figured it was our acting. When it got to be No. 1, I decided it could only be because none of us wears a bra”

Michael Jackson RIP

Michael Jackson has died and how do I feel? Sad at the death of a man who seemed a very troubled soul who had been destroyed by fame. Sad at the death of a man who for a time was a creative force who made some perfect pop songs.

To be honest I was never a massive Michael Jackson fan but I did like some of his music and have picked three favourites below. However I find that I have just one album (on vinyl) "Off The Wall" and just one single "Don't stop 'til you get enough" (12").

Jackson 5 - "ABC"

Michael Jackson - "Don't stop 'til you get enough"

Michael Jackson - "Thriller" (Live)

BBC news priorities

Michael Jackson has died and that is the top BBC Radio 4 news story and all other stories are preceded by "in other news". This is not a story worthy of so much attention. Michael Jackson was a superstar of pop but there are more important things going on in the world.

What is more important, the death of Michael Jackson or the news that "total losses from the banking crisis now total $15 trillion"?

What is more important, the death of Michael Jackson or the news that "The government is set to abandon the use of national literacy and numeracy strategies in England's primary schools."?

What is more important, the death of Michael Jackson or the news that "The government has suffered a defeat in the Commons over part of its plan for MPs to hold debates across England."?

Anyone would think that the BBC were using this news story as a way of taking the pressure off of Gordon Brown and the Labour government.

I just don't understand - oh hold on, now I do

The death of Jade Goody was the lead article on the BBC Radio 4 News yesterday evening; why? A minor celebrity famous for:
1. being less than intelligent
"Do they speak Portuganese in Portugal? I thought Portugal was in Spain."

2. for making racist remarks to Shilpa Shetty
3. for making a lot of money from a little talent

has died. For some reason this "news" is the lead item on the BBC why? In OK magazine, the Sun newspaper and on Radio 1 maybe, but on the home of intelligent speech radio?

Then it hit me, Gordon Brown the man who vowed to mark the end of "celebrity culture" has waded in so as to share the nation's grief. The BBC loyally report that:
"Prime Minister Gordon Brown is leading tributes to reality TV star Jade Goody who has died of cancer at 27, praising her as a "courageous woman".

...

The prime minister said he was "deeply saddened" by the news.

"The whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children.

"She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer, which will benefit thousands of women across the UK."

It is more than apt that whilst Tony Blair lead the Country's grief at the death of the Princess of all our hearts, Gordon Brown tries to lead the Nation's "grief" at the death for a minor celebrity of limited intelligence.

Where Gordon Brown leads the BBC must follow so the lead "Have Your Say" subject is What is Jade Goody’s legacy?. It appears that the BBC is agog to know:
"Did you know Jade Goody? What contribution do you believe she made to cancer awareness? What are your thoughts?"
As is often the case the Readers recommended comments are a breath of sanity, take a read, it would seem that there are some people out there with a sense of perspective.

As an aside I have a friend who is currently trying to fight off cancer, she is managing this with dignity and honour whilst raising money for cancer charities rather than for her family and there are many more like my friend. I would have thought that their life and fight was more worthy of celebration than that of the self-obsessed Jade Goody.

Obsession with fame!?

If only their fame was as fleeting as Andy Warhol predicted it would be. Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga competing for vacuousness.

Trimble came good

University Challenge Final and after the recent publicity regarding Gail Trimble I was quite disappointed until her final burst of question answering. It is a shame that more people in this Country will know who Jade Goody is than will know who Gail Trimble is. The former thought "East Angular [sic] ... was abroad", "didn't realise Aberdeen was in Scotland" and that "Portugal was in Spain" and who made some rather nasty racist comments on TV; the latter seems a polite, intelligent and cultured young lady. In Labour Britain is it any surprise that Jade Goody is a household name and a heroine for many of the Country's youth, whilst Gail Trimble is called by some "a hateful know-it-all" and an "annoying bitch"?
