Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party and anti-semitism

That Jeremy Corbyn has a problem with Israel has been clear for years, that he had no problem calling virulent anti-Semites 'friends' likewise, but that he was himself freely associated with anti-Smites was less clear - until now.

The recent revelations that he was a member of five Facebook groups where anti-Semites posted nasty anti-Jew comments should be headline news but the BBC are still minimising their reporting of this story, for two reasons: first because they want a Labour government as soon as possible (partly to end Brexit) and secondly because the BBC itself indulges anti-Semites by regularly vilifying Israel and by indulging the Muslims and anti-Semites who hate Jews.

There's a line in Ian Fleming's Goldfinger where Auric Goldfinger says of James Bond's habit of appearing in his vicinity "Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action." Jeremy Corbyn has now been found to be a member of five Facebook groups where anti-Semitic sentiments have been freely expressed. It seems that Jeremy Corbyn joined these groups of his own free will and was a member of some for years. Guido Fawkes here and here has the detail. So is it time to conclude that Jeremy Corbyn is an enemy of Jews?

We keep being told that Jeremy Corbyn is a man of principle and a kindly old chap too. It seems that the truth is at variance with those claims.

Acknowledging attacks on Israel, albeit only in passing

Acknowledging attacks on Israel, albeit only in passing, the BBC manage to mention that these attacks using vehicles started in Israel:

'Frank Gardner, BBC security correspondentThe practice of using a large vehicle as a weapon to attack pedestrians is not new. Palestinian militants have used it against Israelis, al-Qaeda encouraged its followers to do it seven years ago in its online magazine.'

But then the BBC list just the attacks in Europe:

Except they miss from that he list the murder of Lee Rigby in May 2013 which started with a car ramming and finished with a murderous stabbing.

Why do you think the BBC deliberately omit the attack on Lee Rigby and the many attacks in Israel? Narrative?

38 Jews and 300,000 Muslims

Elder of Ziyon has a fascinating report on people visiting The Temple Mount in Jerusalem,

'In the past 24 hours, according to Arab media, 38 Jews visited the Temple Mount.

This is, of course, terrible. How can Jews peacefully visit their holiest site? Clearly it is a violation of Muslim rights.

Also in the past 24 hours, according to the same Islamic Waqf that zealously counts every Jew, some 300,000 Muslims visited the same site.

Yet the Muslims complain about restrictions to their freedom of religion.'

  Fascinating and the sort of imbalance in figures that the BBC should be interested in.

If this news was aboiut was Israel killing Muslim Arabs this would be headline news on the BBC

If this news was about was Israel killing Muslim Arabs or Christians this would be headline news on the BBC but as it's about Muslims killing Christians the BBC aren't interested.

Reuters report:

'Christian families and students fled Egypt's North Sinai province in droves on Friday after Islamic State killed the seventh member of their community in just three weeks.


A Reuters reporter saw 25 families gathered with their belongings in the Suez Canal city of Ismailia's Evangelical Church and church officials said 100 families, out of around 160 in North Sinai, were fleeing. More than 200 students studying in Arish, the province's capital, have also left.

Seven Christians have been killed in Arish between Jan. 30 and Thursday. Islamic State, which is waging an insurgency there, claimed responsibility for the killings, five of which were shootings. One man was beheaded and another set on fire.'

 As this news doesn't fit the BBC narrative it won't be reported by the BBC. If Israel can't be blamed  then the institutionally anti-Israel just isn't interested.

Gerald Kaufman has died, his attitude to Israel was well known so Jeremy Corbyn's comments are revealing (part 1)

This is Jeremy Corbyn's statement following the death of Labour MP Gerald Kaufman:

“I’m very sad at the passing of Sir Gerald Kaufman MP. An iconic and irascible figure in the Labour Party, Gerald worked with Harold Wilson when he was Prime Minister in the 1960s and became a Labour MP in 1970. Gerald was always a prominent figure in the party and in Parliament, with his dandy clothes and wonderful demeanour in speaking. Gerald came from a proud Jewish background. He always wanted to bring peace to the Middle East and it was my pleasure to travel with him to many countries. I last saw him in his lovely flat in St John’s Wood in London, surrounded by film posters and a library of the film world. He loved life and politics. I will deeply miss him, both for his political commitment and constant friendship.”

"Always wanted to bring peace to the Middle East", well that's one way of looking at it.

Even the rabidly institutionally anti-Israel BBC recognise where Gerald Kaufman stood on Israel, on its throat:

'A practising Jew, he was best known for his fierce opposition to the policies of the Israeli government and its treatment of the Palestinians.

Kaufman's most vocal attacks were reserved for Israel and its policies towards the Palestinians. A member of the Jewish Labour Movement, he called for economic sanctions against Israel and a ban on sales of arms.

In 2002 he broke a longstanding pledge never to visit Israel when he went there to make a BBC documentary called The End of An Affair, which charted his early infatuation with the Jewish state as a young student and how he later became disillusioned.

He launched a bitter attack on the Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon. "It is time to remind Sharon," he said, "that the Star of David belongs to all Jews, not to his repulsive government."

He often compared Israel's treatment of the Palestinians with South African apartheid and, described Israel's use of white phosphorus flares in the 2009 offensive in Gaza as "war crimes".

"I long ago gave up hope for the Israelis participating in a negotiated solution," he said in 2014.'

 Of course for the BBC these are views that they would also hold and espouse.

The BBC always willing to get some anti-Israel views into an article.

Hamas hardliner?

When I saw this BBC report on Hamas's new leader, some things stuck out like sore thumbs.

'The Palestinian militant group Hamas has elected a hardline commander of its armed wing as the movement's overall leader in the Gaza Strip.

Yehiya Sinwar replaces Ismail Haniyeh, a former prime minister in the territory's Hamas-run government.

Mr Sinwar was jailed in Israel for murder but freed under a deal when Hamas released an Israeli in 2011.

Hamas rejects Israel's right to exist and Mr Sinwar is known to oppose any compromise with the Jewish state.

Some Hamas leaders have suggested a long truce with Israel if it completely withdraws to pre-1967 ceasefire lines and lifts its blockade of Gaza.

The movement's charter, however, calls for Israel's destruction and it is designated a terrorist group by Israel, the US, EU and other world powers.'

The use of the word 'hardline' I thought was interesting. a quick google of Yehiya Sinwar reveals that he's not just hardline:

'Fears are growing of an escalation in conflict in the Middle East after Hamas in Gaza elected a new leader who wants to improve links between the group and Isis.

Yahya Sinwar, 55, who will succeed Ismail Haniyeh, 54, has also argued for prioritising links with Iran ahead of more moderate allies such as Egypt and the Gulf states.'

I've been arguing for some time that Hamas is no better than ISIS when it comes to being an Islamist  terrorist organisation. Now it seems that the link might be more than theoretical. Of course many in the Labour Party see Hamas as 'friends' and proudly scream "we are all Hamas now" at anti-Israel protests, which makes it hard for the pro Labour Party/institutionally anti-Israel BBC to take a contrary view. So the BBC opt for ignoring the inconvenient fact that Hamas may be linking up with ISIS.


Later in the article I read something that I don't remember the BBC stating so clearly before, maybe my complaints have had an effect after all:

'Israel and Egypt maintain a blockade around Gaza aimed at preventing attacks by militants there, though the measure has been condemned by rights groups as a form of collective punishment.'

 The BBC acknowledging that Egypt also blockades Gaza, we make progress. However the BBC also push the idea that this blockade is a form of 'collective punishment' when it's not and is a legitimate counter terrorism act, one step forward...


Unfortunately the BBC are back on the anti-Israel propaganda bandwagon immediately afterwards:

'Yehiya Sinwar was jailed for four life terms by Israel in 1989 for a series of offences, including murder and kidnapping.'

 Shall we put some meat on those bare bones?

Here's the Times of Israel reporting on Yehiya Sinwar's conviction:

“Sinwar, sentenced to life in 1989 for murdering Palestinian collaborators with Israel, spent 22 years in Israeli prisons before being released in the 2011 prisoner exchange deal for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.”

And:

“He [Sinwar] has boasted more than once of the manner in which he executed collaborators. At one point he became known as “The Man of the Twelve” for the twelve Palestinians, suspected collaborators, whom he murdered with his own hands. The number has gone up since then.

Sinwar is the man who established the Al-Majd intelligence unit, which operated against collaborators from the start of the first intifada. In a report written by Amit Cohen, a reporter for Ma’ariv at the time, Sinwar recalled how Hamas’s spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin granted him a fatwa allowing him to execute anyone who confessed to collaborating. Wonder of wonders, they all confessed.”

I wonder why the BBC want to minimise the descriptions of the crimes that Yehiya Sinwar was convicted for. Maybe the new Hamas leader deserves a second chance, after all he only killed those who collaborated with Israel.


The BBC's institutional anti-Israel coverage is incessant, I wonder what the Balen Report really said about it.

"... restrictions on Muslim worshippers..."

'The resolution repeatedly denounced Israeli actions, including the use of force, imposition of restrictions on Muslim worshippers and archaeological work. Israel regards such criticism as politically motivated.'

That line comes from this BBC report on UNESCO's latest anti-Israel move.

"Israeli actions, including... restrictions on Muslim worshipper" 

That line is fascinating especially as it's actually Jews that are banned from worshipping on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, whilst Muslims worship in a mosque there, a mosque that was built on top of the ruins of the Jewish Temple.

The United Nations and the BBC united by a hatred of Israel...

Jerusalem shooting: Two killed by Palestinian gunman per BBC News who don't dignify the dead Jews with a name

This BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-37600221 tells the world that two Israeli Jews 'have died':

'An Israeli pedestrian and a policeman have died after a Palestinian gunman opened fire from his car in an attack in East Jerusalem, Israeli police say.Six other people were wounded in the attack that began at Ammunition Hill.

...

Reports said the pedestrian was a 60-year-old woman.'

Actually the two Israeli Jews were killed, they didn't just die. However as they're Israeli Jews what the hell eh BBC?

Note that any Palestinian, even a terrorist, would be deemed worthy of being named and an interview with a grieving, distraught relative. But Israeli Jews not so much.

The BBC are institutionally anti Israel and make me nauseous.

North Korea Executes Official for 'Slouching' in Meeting with Kim - not considered newsworthy by the institutionally anti Israel BBC

'North Korea has announced its Vice Premier for Education, Kim Yong-Jin, was executed by firing squad last month. His crime, according to South Korea's Unification Ministry, was "slouching during a meeting of parliament in late June presided over by Kim Jong Un."'

Not reported, certainly not on the news front page, by the institutionally anti Israel BBC who did headline the news that Israel was building some homes for Israelis. 

What is it about the world's only majority Jewish state that so angers the institutionally anti Israel BBC?

The institutionally anti Israel BBC don't consider this worthy of headlining on their news front page. Apparently Islamists hacking nine young men to death with a chainsaw isn't newsworthy whilst Israel building homes is. 

The institutionally anti Israel BBC disgust me. What is it about the world's only majority Jewish state that they so hate?

Israel 'approves 464 settlement homes in West Bank' -per BBC News

This BBC report http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-37235922 is interesting as it has sat on the BBC news front page since yesterday. People are dying in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and elsewhere. In North Korea millions live in fear of their own government, senior politicians are executed by being shot by anti aircraft guns, so being shredded to death. There's a low scale war between Russia and the Ukraine. China is expanding its presence in South East Asia etc etc etc. 

Yet the BBC prefer to headline that the world's only majority Jewish state is daring to build some houses. That the BBC is institutionally anti Israel has been clear for years, presumably that was the conclusion of the Balen Report and so why the BBC have been so desperate to keep that report secret.

The BBC's obsession with denigrating Israel does seem borderline anti Semitic.

IS Urged Vehicle-Ramming Attacks In 2014 and they've been used before in France and again and again in Israel - not that you'd know from the BBC coverage of the terrorist attack on Nice

It's interesting, revealing and entirely predictable how the BBC's coverage of the terrorist attack on Nice has minimised coverage of the perpetrator's name and religion but also the precedents for such an attack.

A month later, a man rammed his car into two Canadian soldiers in Quebec, killing one of them, in an attack that may have been inspired by Adnani's recording.

In December 2014, a man rammed a van into a crowd of shoppers at a Christmas market in Nantes, injuring nearly 20 people.

That came days after another driver, who witnesses said shouted Allahu Akbar (God is great), rammed pedestrians in the central French city of Dijon, wounding about a dozen.

Police refrained from calling the Dijon and Nantes incidents terrorist attacks because they said both individuals had a history of psychiatric illness.

Israel has seen a number of ramming attacks in recent years, mainly where lone Arabs have driven into pedestrians or bus stops, in a tactic dubbed the "run-over intifada".

Alan Mendoza, executive director of The Henry Jackson Society, a conservative think tank, said: "Nice shows an evolution of tactics from terrorists, echoing methods used against Israelis."

He said the massacre in Nice underlines shows how difficult such attacks are to prevent.'

So if Sky News can manage to report the ISIS incitement, the resulting similar attacks in France, Canada and Israel, then why can't the BBC?

Incitement to murder on the record but the BBC won't report it as it's against Israelis

'When asked what he thought about normalization with Israel and Palestinian officials taking part in Israeli conferences, Abu al-Einein said: "If you ask me my blunt position, I would say — every place you find an Israeli, slit his throat. Likewise, I am against talks, negotiations, meetings, and normalization in all its forms with the Israeli occupation."'

The BBC won't report this news but if they did it would be from the point of view of a Palestinian transsexual who desperately wanted to become a scuba diver and now couldn't.
