Ken Livingstone - the West is always to blame

MEMRI has a clip of a fascinating interview with Ken Livingstone

Here's the transcript and details:

'Following are excerpts from statements made by former mayor of London Ken Livingstone, which aired on Press TV and were posted on the Internet on April 26, 2013:

Voice of Muhammad, a caller from the UK: How [come the Boston bombers] enjoyed all these pleasures there, and yet, they ended up blowing themselves up [sic] like that?

Ken Livingstone: Well, I think there is a problem… Very often people get incredibly angry about injustices that they see. They would have been reading about the torture at Guantanamo Bay, at Baghram airbase. They would have read stuff about how, I think it is 54 different countries secretly collaborated with America for this rendition – people being snatched off streets taken to be tortured, because the Bush regime believed that they were all potential terrorists. There was such ignorance in the Bush White House about Islam and about the history of so many disputes that exist in the Middle East. People get angry – they lash out.

It's the whole squalid intervention that has disfigured the record of the Western democracies. I think this fuels the anger of the young men, who – as we saw in Boston – went out, and, out of anger and demand for revenge, claimed lives in the West

You have to admire Ken Livingstone... Actually no you don't!

The daughter, a virgin, is believed to have miscarried at 14, but went on to have a baby at 16 after regularly inseminating herself with sperm bought over the internet by her "domineering" mother because she was too scared to refuse.'

Hamas teaches Palestinian schoolboys how to fire Kalashnikovs - Telegraph

'Palestinian schoolboys are learning how to fire Kalashnikovs, throw grenades and plant improvised explosive devices as part of a programme run by Hamas's education ministry.

The scheme has been criticised by Palestinian human rights groups, who point out that Hamas has previously banned sport from the school curriculum on the grounds that there is not enough time for it.'

Fascist, fascist, fascist...

Calling someone a fascist, is the go to response of the so many of the ill-educated, hatemongers of the left and one of them tried to post a link to a really nasty piece on a blog that seems to have been setup just to attack this post of mine.

I haven't posted this individual's comment because the link is to the sort of hate-filled, lies and left-wing crap that is all too prevalent on the internet. here's the comment, if you want to read the whole piece you can follow the link.

Here's one extract with my response.
'The stupid suggestion that Jordan is the real Palestine was a brain dead propaganda campaign launched by evangelical magicians and Zionists in the 1970’s. it was dead on arrival, except for some poor lost fascist orientated souls.'
Hmmm, On March 31, 1977, the Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with Palestine Liberation Organisation executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here's what he said:

"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan."

In 1965, King Hussein said: “Those organisations which seek to differentiate between Palestinians and Jordanians are traitors.” As late as 1981, Hussein repeated “Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan.”

In March 1971, The Palestine National Council, too, stated that “what links Jordan to Palestine is a national bond […] formed, since time immemorial, by history and culture. The establishment of one political entity in Transjordan and another in Palestine is illegal.”

I could fisk the rest of the article, but why bother Illan David isn't interested in facts, just spreading lies and hatred. It's not necessarily his fault though, there's a lot of this type of left-wing faux intellectual around, they seem to breed them at the lesser universities.

'Seyi Rhodes travelled to the Gaza Strip in February to film an episode of Unreported World, which airs tonight.

But rather than reporting on a region torn apart by conflict, the programme focuses on the property market
and booming construction taking place there

Mr Rhodes said the experience confounded his expectations.

"Before I started researching, I thought the region was destitute - people living literally hand-to-mouth on aid, with constant security threats. I took it for granted that people would be living in temporary accommodation provided by the UN."

In fact, he found "a growing wealth gap", with ordinary families struggling even to rent but new flats being sold for up to $3 million to wealthy Palestinians with money from abroad or from jobs with the Hamas government.

"As a left-wing student, I was given one view of Gaza/Palestine," said Mr Rhodes. "But I realise now that many of those representations were entirely politically motivated.'

You asked me for some examples of Hamas leaders calling for the destruction of Israel and the death of Jews. Here you go:

The YouTube description for this video reads:
'Uploaded on 12 Feb 2009
The video, a compilation of MEMRI TV clips that aired prior to the Dec-Jan Gaza crisis, includes statements by Hamas leaders calling for the annihilation of Israel and of all Jews, for death to America, and for the Islamic conquest of the world.

Featured are Hamas leader Khaled Mash'al, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya, Hamas MPs Mushir Al-Masri and Fathi Hamad, Hamas MP and cleric Yunis Al-Astal, Palestinian Legislative Council acting speaker Sheikh Ahmad Bahr, and Hamas clerics Wael Al-Zarad and Muhsen Abu 'Ita.

Viewers will also witness Hamas military training for adults and children, anti-American speeches at rallies including burning of the American flag and calls of support for "The Afghan Mujahidin", Hamas Al-Aqsa TV children's shows, and more.'

Video from by the Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas military wing), addressing Israelis:
"From the Palestinian people to the Zionists: We've missed the suicide attacks. Expect us soon at bus stations and in cafés."
[Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas), Nov. 18, 2012]

"From the Al-Qassam Brigades to the Zionists: Don't go to sleep because we may get you in your sleep."
[Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas), Nov. 18, 2012]

Here's the 13th Article of Hamas's Charter (my emphasis):

'Article Thirteen: Peaceful Solutions, [Peace] Initiatives and International Conferences [Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement. For renouncing any part of Palestine means renouncing part of the religion; the nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its faith, the movement educates its members to adhere to its principles and to raise the banner of Allah over their homeland as they fight their Jihad: “Allah is the all-powerful, but most people are not aware.” From time to time a clamoring is voiced, to hold an International Conference in search for a solution to the problem. Some accept the idea, others reject it, for one reason or another, demanding the implementation of this or that condition, as a prerequisite for agreeing to convene the Conference or for participating in it. But the Islamic Resistance Movement, which is aware of the [prospective] parties to this conference, and of their past and present positions towards the problems of the Muslims, does not believe that those conferences are capable of responding to demands, or of restoring rights or doing justice to the oppressed. Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the nonbelievers as arbitrators in the lands of Islam. Since when did the Unbelievers do justice to the Believers? “And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed. Say: Lo! the guidance of Allah [himself] is the Guidance. And if you should follow their desires after the knowledge which has come unto thee, then you would have from Allah no protecting friend nor helper.” Sura 2 (the Cow), verse 120 There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. The initiatives, proposals and International Conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility. The Palestinian people are too noble to have their future, their right and their destiny submitted to a vain game. As the hadith has it: “The people of Syria are Allah’s whip on this land; He takes revenge by their intermediary from whoever he wished among his worshipers. The Hypocrites among them are forbidden from vanquishing the true believers, and they will die in anxiety and sorrow.” (Told by Tabarani, who is traceable in ascending order of traditionaries to Muhammad, and by Ahmed whose chain of transmission is incomplete. But it is bound to be a true hadith, for both story tellers are reliable. Allah knows best.)'

A clip from a full-length anti-Israel movie that shows a Hamas funeral where the preacher exhorts Allah to kill all the Jews.
"Oh Allah, loosen your power and strength on the Jews... Please Allah, kill them all and don't leave any of them alive... Please Allah, get rid of the Jews"

"You don't treat the Jews as enemies because they are only human beings who eat and drink, No! We treat them as enemies because they are the enemy of Allah and the prophets, they are murderers of prophets, falsifiers of divine revelation, they are treacherous betrayers, therefore we treat them as enemies... Allah! Allah, count the Jews and kill them to the last one and don't leave even one."
That's Dr. Walid Al-Rashudi, head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Saud University in Saudi Arabia, in a speech from 2009 broadcast on Hamas TV.

"Hamas must declare that it was formed to eliminate the state of Israel, and that Israel is an entity that must disappear. [Hamas] should declare that its political, military, and social plan is the liberation of all the land by means of resistance"
The words of Kana'an 'Obeid, an advisor to the Hamas government in Gaza, in an October 8, 2012 article in the Hamas newspaper Al-Risala.

Hamas Deputy Speaker Ahmad Bahr preaching for the annihilation of Jews and Americans.

"Jihad... in order to annihilate those Jews..."
"Oh Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, destroy the Americans and their supporters. Oh Allah, count them one by one, and kill them all, without leaving a single one."

"You have made our killing of the Jews an act of worship" "With Allah's Teachings "We Harvest the Skulls of...Jews"

"The (Jews) are brought in droves to Palestine so that the Palestinians - and the Islamic nation behind them - will have the nonour of anhiliating the evil of this gang" "In just a few years, all the Zionists and the settlers will realize that their arrival in Palestine was for the purpose of the great massacre by means of which Allah wants to relieve humanity of their evil." That was Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis al-Astal from 2011.

Here's a Hamas children's TV program calling for the "slaughter of Jews"

For more of Hamas's brainwashing children to hate and want to kill Jews take a look at this other blogpost:
"We want to... We will annhiliate the Jews"

"Just give us weapons, the boys and the girls themselves, we will kiill them all [the Jews]. We won't leave a single Jew. We won't leave a single Jew here."

The above are examples of brainwashing and its consequences, it's not pretty and it's not difficult but it is effective. The same concepts and tactics used in Nazi Germany are being used in Palestine and beyond. The end is the same, to kill all Jews. The evidence is clear and the people expressing these views express them clearly, yet the Western media and the useful idiots of the Western left still claim that if only Israel would retreat to its pre 1967 borders all will be well. That last video included a quotation from Faysal al-Husseini, the PA Minister for Jerusalem Affiars that I think needs repetition:

"The Oslo Accords were a Trojan horse; the strategic goal is the liberation of Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea"
Fairly clear?

Remember that on the same day Yasser Arafat signed the Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn in 1993, he explained his actions on Jordan TV thus "Since we cannot defeat Israel in war, we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish a sovereignty there, and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel."

The removal of East Jerusalem from Israel and a general return to the 1967 borders is not the aim of Hamas, Fatah/PLO/PA or the rest of the Muslim Middle East, it is but a staging post on the way to the eventual destruction of Israel.

The following are comments made by Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya on his visit to Tunisia in early January 2012. The comments were all recorded and broadcast on Al-Aqsa TV:

"I say to you now, in the capital of south Tunisia: We will never ever recognize Israel."

"The land of Palestine, oh brothers and sisters, is an Islamic, as decreed by the second caliph, Omar ibn Al-Khattab. We shall not relinquish the Islamic waqf on the land of Palestine, and Jerusalem shall not be divided into Western and Eastern Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a single united [city], and Palestine stretches from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, and from Naqoura [Rosh Ha-Niqra] to Umm Al-Rashrash [Eilat] in the south."

This is Hamas's leader in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Haniyeh, saying on 14 December that whilst Hamas may work for the "interim objective of liberation of Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem," this in an "interim objective" and "reconciliation" with Fatah will not change Hamas' long-term "strategic" goal of eliminating all of Israel. Ismail Haniyeh also said this:
"The armed resistance and the armed struggle are the path and the strategic choice for liberating the Palestinian land, from the [Mediterranean] sea to the [Jordan] river, and for the expulsion of the invaders and usurpers [Israel]... We won't relinquish one inch of the land of Palestine."
From the sea to the river, now where have I heard that before? Oh yes, remember that every time someone chants "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" they are calling for the destruction of Israel, the ending of the Jewish state. The river is the Jordan, the sea is the Mediterranean; from the river to the sea is not calling for a two state solution, it is calling for the destruction of Israel.

Two days after Ismail Haniyeh's speech, the Palestinian Authority's Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that Hamas leader abroad Khaled Mashaal had agreed that:
"There will be no military resistance."
"The permanent solution is on the '67 borders."
According to Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas had agreed to a permanent solution based on the 1967 borders. However, Haniyeh said that Hamas agrees to a temporary solution on the 1967 borders as a first stage only.

Who to believe?

Before you say Mahmoud Abbas, remember that for many years, the PLO itself promoted a "stages plan" that would first create a Palestinian state on the 1949 - 1967 armistice lines, and then work from that position to destroy Israel. Indeed senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki recently stated that this remains the goal for Fatah as well, but that "you can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."...

The west listens to and believes what Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas say about wanting a two state solution and a return to 1967 borders because that fits in with their world view of an evil Jewish state stealing land from poor Palestinians. The truth is some way from this narrative but the western media, especially the BBC, just don't care; facts will not be allowed to intrude into this narrative.

So the next time you hear a Palestinian spokesman saying they want to live in peace with Israel or a BBC Middle East 'expert' explaining how Hamas and the PLO have changed and really do want peace with Israel, remember that it's all lies. Hamas and Fatah/PLO want to destroy Israel, they claim all of the land that Israel stands on and the return to 1967 borders is but the first step on the path to destroying Israel and killing all Jews.

There's more examples but to be honest I find it boring showing what Hamas want, it's obvious. They don't hide it when they speak in Arabic, neither do their television programmes make any secret of it, but there are enough useful Western fools who believe the honeyed words of English used by Hamas and PA leaders in private meetings. Why these Westerners believe these words is not clear; do they want to believe them and thus they ignore all evidence to the contrary or do they have another reason for supporting genocidal Islamist terrorists?

What is Taqiyya? Lynne Jones (@lynnejones_exMP) please take note.

Question: Are Muslims permitted to lie?

Summary Answer
Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other, unless the purpose of lying is to "smooth over differences."
There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman.  These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

The Qur'an:
Qur'an (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.
Qur'an (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves."
Qur'an (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..."  The dissolution of oaths with the pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture.  They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway.
Qur'an (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who must "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.
Qur'an (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts"  The context of this remark is marriage, which explains why Sharia allows spouses to lie to each other for the greater good.
Qur'an (66:2) - "Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths"
Qur'an (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers."  The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit.  If Allah is deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)
Taken collectively these verses are interpreted to mean that there are circumstances when a Muslim may be "compelled" to deceive others for a greater purpose.

From the Hadith:

Bukhari (52:269) - "The Prophet said, 'War is deceit.'"  The context of this is thought to be the murder of Usayr ibn Zarim and his thirty unarmed men by Muhammad's men after he "guaranteed" them safe passage (see Additional Notes below).
Bukhari (49:857) - "He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar."  Lying is permitted when the end justifies the means.
Bukhari (84:64-65) - Speaking from a position of power at the time, Ali confirms that lying is permissible in order to deceive an "enemy."
Muslim (32:6303) - "...he did not hear that exemption was granted in anything what the people speak as lie but in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation amongst persons and the narration of the words of the husband to his wife, and the narration of the words of a wife to her husband (in a twisted form in order to bring reconciliation between them)."
Bukhari (50:369) - Recounts the murder of a poet, Ka'b bin al-Ashraf, at Muhammad's insistence.  The men who volunteered for the assassination used dishonesty to gain Ka'b's trust, pretending that they had turned against Muhammad.  This drew the victim out of his fortress, whereupon he was brutally slaughtered despite putting up a ferocious struggle for his life.
From Islamic Law:

Reliance of the Traveler (p. 746 - 8.2) -  "Speaking is a means to achieve objectives. If a praiseworthy aim is attainable through both telling the truth and lying, it is unlawful to accomplish through lying because there is no need for it.  When it is possible to achieve such an aim by lying but not by telling the truth, it is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible (N:i.e. when the purpose of lying is to circumvent someone who is preventing one from doing something permissible), and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory... it is religiously precautionary in all cases to employ words that give a misleading impression...
"One should compare the bad consequences entailed by lying to those entailed by telling the truth, and if the consequences of telling the truth are more damaging, one is entitled to lie.

Additional Notes:
Muslims are allowed to lie to unbelievers in order to defeat them.  The two forms are:

Taqiyya - Saying something that isn't true.

Kitman - Lying by omission.  An example would be when Muslim apologists quote only a fragment of verse 5:32 (that if anyone kills "it shall be as if he had killed all mankind") while neglecting to mention that the rest of the verse (and the next) mandate murder in undefined cases of "corruption" and "mischief."

Though not called Taqiyya by name, Muhammad clearly used deception when he signed a 10-year treaty with the Meccans that allowed him access to their city while he secretly prepared his own forces for a takeover.  The unsuspecting residents were conquered in easy fashion after he broke the treaty two years later, and some of the people in the city who had trusted him at his word were executed.

Another example of lying is when Muhammad used deception to trick his personal enemies into letting down their guard and exposing themselves to slaughter by pretending to seek peace.  This happened in the case of Ka'b bin al-Ashraf (as previously noted) and again later against Usayr ibn Zarim, a surviving leader of the Banu Nadir tribe, which had been evicted from their home in Medina by the Muslims.

At the time, Usayr ibn Zarim was attempting to gather an armed force against the Muslims from among a tribe allied with the Quraish (against which Muhammad had already declared war).  Muhammad's "emissaries" went to ibn Zarim and persuaded him to leave his safe haven on the pretext of meeting with the prophet of Islam in Medina to discuss peace.  Once vulnerable, the leader and his thirty companions were massacred by the Muslims with ease, belying the probability that they were mostly unarmed, having been given a guarantee of safe passage (Ibn Ishaq 981).

Such was the reputation of Muslims for lying and then killing that even those who "accepted Islam" did not feel entirely safe.  The fate of the Jadhima is tragic evidence for this.  When Muslim "missionaries" approached their tribe one of the members insisted that they would be slaughtered even though they had already "converted" to Islam to avoid just such a demise.  However, the others were convinced that they could trust the Muslim leader's promise that they would not be harmed if they simply offered no resistance.  (After convincing the skeptic to lay down his arms, the unarmed men of the tribe were quickly tied up and beheaded - Ibn Ishaq 834 & 837).

Today's Muslims often try to justify Muhammad's murder of poets and others who criticized him at Medina by saying that they broke a treaty by their actions.  Yet, these same apologists place little value on treaties broken by Muslims.  From Muhammad to Saddam Hussein, promises made to non-Muslim are distinctly non-binding in the Muslim mindset.

Leaders in the Arab world routinely say one thing to English-speaking audiences and then something entirely different to their own people in Arabic.  Yassir Arafat was famous for telling Western newspapers about his desire for peace with Israel, then turning right around and whipping Palestinians into a hateful and violent frenzy against Jews.

The 9/11 hijackers practiced deception by going into bars and drinking alcohol, thus throwing off potential suspicion that they were fundamentalists plotting jihad.  This effort worked so well, in fact, that even weeks after 9/11, John Walsh, the host of a popular American television show, said that their bar trips were evidence of 'hypocrisy.'

The transmission from Flight 93 records the hijackers telling their doomed passengers that there is "a bomb on board" but that everyone will "be safe" as long as "their demands are met."  Obviously none of these things were true, but these men, who were so intensely devoted to Islam that they were willing to "slay and be slain for the cause of Allah" (as the Qur'an puts it) saw nothing wrong with employing Taqiyya in order to facilitate their mission of mass murder.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) insists that it "has not now or ever been involved with the Muslim Brotherhood, or supported any covert, illegal, or terrorist activity or organization."  In fact, it was created by the Muslim Brotherhood and has bankrolled Hamas.  At least nine founders or board members of ISNA have been accused by prosecutors of supporting terrorism.

Prior to engineering several deadly terror plots, such as the Fort Hood massacre and the attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner, American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was regularly sought out by NPR, PBS and even government leaders to expound on the peaceful nature of Islam.

The near absence of Qur'anic verse and reliable Hadith that encourage truthfulness is somewhat surprising, given that many Muslims are convinced that their religion teaches honesty.  In fact, it is because of this ingrained belief that many Muslims are quite honest.  When lying is addressed in the Qur'an, it is nearly always in reference to the "lies against Allah" - referring to the Jews and Christians who rejected Muhammad's claim to being a prophet.

Finally, the circumstances by which Muhammad allowed a believer to lie to a non-spouse are limited to those that either advance the cause of Islam or enable a Muslim to avoid harm to his well-being (and presumably that of other Muslims as well).  Although this should be kept very much in mind when dealing with matters of global security, such as Iran's nuclear intentions, it is not grounds for assuming that the Muslim one might personally encounter on the street or in the workplace is any less honest than anyone else.

Contrary to Administration rhetoric, the talking points were not edited to protect classified information.

Concern for classified information is never mentioned in email traffic among senior administration officials.

All of this seems to conflict with what the Obama Administration told the American public in the thick of the president's ultimately successful re-election campaign.'

A speedy response from BBC albeit to tell me that their full response will not be speedy

Further to my earlier post, the BBC have speedily replied:
Dear Audience Member
The Committee's decisions of 11 April are written up as minutes and are then ratified at the following month's meeting before being distributed – so you should receive the Trustees' decision around mid-May.
Yours faithfully

Further to this post, I am still awaiting a report on what was decided at the BBC Trust meeting of 11 April. How long should this process take?

Hate crimes in USA - is Islam under attack?

Jihadwatchs Robert Spencer:
"Muslims as victims...
In reality, as David J. Rusin noted in National Review last January, "a detailed analysis of FBI statistics covering ten full calendar years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks reveals that, on a per capita basis, American Muslims, contrary to spin, have been subjected to hate crimes less often than other prominent minorities. From 2002 to 2011, Muslims are estimated to have suffered hate crimes at a frequency of 6.0 incidents per 100,000 per year – 10 percent lower than blacks (6.7), 48 percent lower than homosexuals and bisexuals (11.5), and 59 percent lower than Jews (14.8). Americans should keep these numbers in mind whenever Islamists attempt to silence critics by invoking Muslim victimhood."

I wonder what the statistics for the UK would show...

Sex parties, a gym and a spa: Inside the Saudi prisons where terrorists caught in Saudi Arabia are sent | Mail Online

The Mail have an interesting story as to how Saudis plan to punish Islamist terrorists

It seems that if you steal you'll lose a hand, commit a homosexual act then you'll hang but if you commit acts of terrorism then you'll be sent to a holiday camp for a few years until the fuss dies down.

It seems to me that Saudi Arabia is saying to AL-Queda "don't worry chaps, if you get caught we'll look after you and send you to a holiday camp until your time is done. After all we support your aims and we wouldn't have imprisoned you in the first place, but we need to placate the West.

Harman praises 'hero' immigrants who send welfare handouts home | Mail Online

'Harriet Harman has praised 'heroic' immigrants who claim welfare payments in Britain and use the cash to support families living abroad.

She said the Government should make it easier for them to send the money home and called for tax refunds to encourage more immigrants to follow suit, in particular those who paid for their children to be educated in the Third World.

The Labour Deputy Leader, who is also the party's spokesman on International Development, derided 'those who say we should look after our own first' in the recession and vowed to fight any attempt to cut the £9.4 billion overseas aid budget.'

Your weaknes will be your downfall - Some Friday evening humour

Ed Miliband's biggest donor and his Communist Party plea - The Commentator

A fascinating article but not one that tells me anything surprising, the British Labour party has long contained Communist sympathisers. Many socialists are just light Communists.

The hypocrisy is the key:
' But what would the media's response be if David Cameron's biggest financial backer propped up, and was on the management board of a major Fascist outlet, or some other antiquainted ideology that slaughtered millions? Yes, it'd be front page news.

But Red Ed can carry on flying the red flag with his union fellows. The pro-EU, authoritarian, protectionist nationalisers.'

Many on the left still wear their Che Guevara t-shirts, put up posters of Mao and even look back fondly on the Russian communist experiment. They admire the murderers that killed many millions of people. But if you say you supported Lady Thatcher, they call you a Nazi...

Beware the uncomfortable chair ladies

Mr Batsby defends freedom of speech

'It appears to be hateful and loathsome and vile to drunkenly utter on social media a racist taunt which you then withdraw, but it is fine to loudly and widely revel in the death of an octogenarian and hurl abuse of the most extreme kind at any who defend her legacy. And now it turns out that being from Liverpool places you in a special class affording you protection from nasty words, presumably because you can't handle them when they're coming your way.

Thus it was that Twitter stalwart @Old_Holborn  was by all accounts arrested yesterday (although this is yet to be confirmed at the time of writing) for tweeting harsh words about whiny Scousers, yet no such action seems to have been taken against any of the many that took it upon themselves to call for a mob to descend on his home and take the abuse from the merely verbal to the physical level.
We even allow frequent Islamic protesters to loudly and fanatically call for the actual death of all non-Muslims, yet quickly deploy police to turn away those holding counter protests, denouncing those views as hate crimes.
Arresting somebody for merely saying 'out loud' what a significant number of people are thinking is one step on the way to making opinions a legal matter.

And when we get to that point (this year, next year?) who will decide what opinions are acceptable? In fact, will we allow individual opinion - let's call it dissent - at all? I believe such things have been tried before and Winston Smith would easily recognise the sort of world that creates. What thought crimes have you committed today?'

Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC and Lady Thatcher’s funeral

"Hymns … than a beardy man in a frock gave a broadcast for the Labour Party" – Jeremy Clarkson in today's Sun. I can't find it online but it's worth paying 40p for the paper just to read it …
"I was abroad when Baroness Thatcher died. But the BBC's impartial website kept me abreast of the mood back in Britain.
They told me that people were pouring out of their homes to rejoice at the news. There were street parties and spontaneous outpouring of joy.

I only met Mrs Thatcher once and all she could talk about was the hopeless left-wing bias of the BBC.

On the morning of the event, I checked the BBC website for updates and the news was grim. They were talking about massive protests … They were even advertising a Facebook page to help those who wanted to go along and throw some fruit …

Nothing was thrown. Apart from a few flowers. And if anybody jeered they were drowned out by the applause. Looks like the BBC got it spectacularly wrong."

Biased bbc comment...

Did anyone see the BBC News Chanel at just before 6pm on Wednesday evening. Charles Moore was being interviewed, and started to tell the Beeboid how biased the coverage of Mrs Thattcer was. It was a pleasure to watch the Beeboid squirming. Eventually they cut him off. I do hope that someone can post it on the web so that we can all enjoy it. (About 5.50 pm BBC news 17/4/13)

Also Qaeda called for attacks on sporting events

'Although no group has claimed responsibility for Monday's deadly bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon, a leading al-Qaeda ideologue last year recommended that jihadists in America include sporting events in their list of prospective terror targets.

Writing in the online magazine of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP),Inspire, the terrorist known as Abu Musab al-Suri listed what he called "the most important enemy targets."
"This is done by targeting human crowds in order to inflict maximum human losses," he wrote. "This is very easy since there are numerous such targets such as crowded sports arenas, annual social events, large international exhibitions, crowded market-places, skyscrapers, crowded buildings ... etc." '

The BBC at it again

'Before the offensive, Israel had repeatedly carried out air strikes on Gaza as Palestinian militants fired rockets across the border.'
This is the last line of this BBC article about the Dalou family deaths.

Isn't it lovely how the BBC put Israel's actions before those of the 'Palestinian militants', subtly suggesting that Israel initiated the exchanges. It also suggests that whilst the action from the Palestinian side is taken by only 'militants', the whole of Israel is participating in the Israeli action.

The BBC are despicably and institutionally biased against Israel.

Why do so many Palestinians (and others) think they should kill Jews?

Why do so many Palestinians (and others) think they should kill Jews?

'Palestinian Media Watch has found that the PA teaches an ideology of virulent hatred of Jews
and Israel that mandates the killing of Jews solely because they are Jews. The murder of Jews
is presented not only as beneficial to Muslims and Arabs, but as necessary for all humankind.
These findings are based on a thorough study and analysis of eight years of official PA
television and PA-controlled daily newspapers. This report documents how this hate ideology
has been taught for years, well before the war started in September 2000, and continues even
after the death of Yasser Arafat:'
That's an extract from this Palestinian Media Watch paper do go and read the whole piece.

Here's some examples, there are dozens more in the PAL Watch document:
“Kill them all... we won’t leave a single Jew here.” Young Girl [PA TV (Fatah), Oct. 22, 2000]
Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa Najem: “The Jews are Jews, and we are forbidden to forget their character traits even for a moment, even for a blink of an eye.” [PA TV (Fatah), Dec. 6, 2002
This presentation of Jews as having inherently negative character traits was taught for years in the PA curriculum: “One must beware of the Jews, for they are treacherous and disloyal.” [Islamic Education for Ninth Grade, page 79] “Treachery and disloyalty are character traits of the Jews and therefore one should beware of them.” [Islamic Education for Ninth Grade, page 87] These books were based on Jordanian schoolbooks. Though the PA was notified of this content in 1999, it refused an American offer to fund the reprinting of these books without this and other anti-Jewish content.
Crossword Puzzle Clue: “Jewish character trait spelled backwards” Solution: “Treachery” [Al-Quds, Dec. 20, 2000]
“We are waging this cruel war with the brothers of the monkeys and pigs, the Jews and the sons of Zion.” [PA TV (Fatah), Sept. 12, 2004]
Sheikh Ibrahim Mudayris: “The Muslim remembers how the Jews corrupted the land... Oh Muslims! The Jews are Jews. Their character and custom are the corruption and destruction of this land. We keep warning you: the Jews are a cancer that spreads inside the body of the Islamic and Arab nation.... They invest in the East Asian countries, which were destroyed [by the Tsunami] because of the Jewish and American corruption and destruction.” [PA TV (Fatah), Jan. 7, 2005]
Senior historian Issam Sissalem used a “parasitic worm” simile in referring to the Jews who came to Israel: “[Jews-Israelis] are like a parasitic worm that eats a snail and lives in its shell. We will not let anyone live in our shell.” [PA TV (Fatah), Dec. 21, 2004]
“If we presented this before a judge [now]...he would renew this condition ... the solution is that no Jew should live there... The prosperity of this city [Jerusalem] and of this land necessitates that no Jew should ever live there.” [PA TV (Fatah), Dec. 14, 2004]
Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Maadi: "All weapons must be aimed at the Jews, Allah’s enemies, the cursed nation in the Koran, whom Allah describes as monkeys and pigs: [The] Koran says clearly that the worst enemies of the Moslem Nation are the Jews, may Allah fight them...” [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 3, 2001]
Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiyah, Sharia (Islamic Law) Rulings Council, Rector of Advanced Studies, Islamic University: “The Jews are the Jews. Whether Labor or Likud the Jews are Jews. They do not have any moderates or any advocates of peace. They are all liars. They must be butchered and must be killed... The Jews are like a spring as long as you step on it with your foot it doesn’t move. But if you lift your foot from the spring, it hurts you and punishes you: “It is forbidden to have mercy in your hearts for the Jews in any place and in any land. Make war on them any place that you find yourself. Any place that you meet them, kill them.” [PA TV (Fatah), Oct. 13, 2000]
Soon after this call to kill Jews, a teenager on PA TV expressed this desire to kill all Jews: “Kill them all... we won’t leave a single Jew here.” [Young Girl, PA TV (Fatah), Oct. 22, 2000]

Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Maadi: “All the weapons must be aimed at the Jews, Allah’s enemies, the cursed nation in the Koran, whom Allah describes as monkeys and pigs, worshippers of the calf and idol worshippers: Nothing will deter them except the color of blood in their filthy nation : unless we blow ourselves up, willingly and as our duty, in their midst: We will blow them up in Hadera, we will blow them up in Tel-Aviv and in Netanya so that Allah will make us masters over this riff-raff. We will fight against them and rule over them until the Jew will hide behind the tree and rock and the tree and rock will say: ‘Muslim! Servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him.’” [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 3, 2001]
This official PA line that God demands the killing of Jews was expressed in graphic form on the Hamas website promising entry to Heaven to those who follow God’s command. The words read: “We shall knock on heaven’s doors with the skulls of Jews.” Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa Najem: “Servants of Allah, be you the ones by whom Allah tortures the Jews with harsh torment.” [PA TV (Fatah), Nov. 1, 2002]
Muhammad Abd Al Hadi La’afi, Responsible for Religious Teaching and Instruction in the Office of the Waqf: “The battle with the Jews will surely come: The decisive Muslim victory is coming without a doubt, and the prophet spoke about in more than one Hadith, and the Day of Resurrection will not come without the victory of the believers [the Muslims] over the descendants of the monkeys and pigs [the Jews] and with their annihilation.” [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Fatah), May 18, 2001]
It doesn't matter whether it is Hamas or Fatah, the aim is the same destroy Israel utterly, ensure there is no Jewish state in the Middle East and kill as many Jews as possible. Yet these are the people Israel are told to negotiate with as 'partners in peace'?

The BBC just won't report these regular statements from Hamas or Fatah that call for death for all Jews etc. but will report when one Israeli extremist makes threats against Arabs. I have complained about this to the BBC but their Middle East supremo, Tarik Kafala, seems uninterested in taking my complaints seriously.
This is a repost of a piece from last year that I think bears repeating.

Ah the memories!

A BBC setup of IDS? I'm shocked...

'The Government's row with the BBC over the coverage of its welfare changes has escalated. Downing Street was infuriated when housing benefit claimant David Bennett challenged Iain Duncan Smith on the Today Programme to live on £53 a week, saying that Bennett was living on substantially more than that and that his claims should have been checked before being broadcast.

But Number 10 is now apoplectic after learning that Bennett was approached when he posted criticisms of David Cameron and the welfare changes on the BBC's user-generated content hub.

This has added to the Government's suspicions that the BBC was deliberately setting the Welfare Secretary up for a rough ride.'

Anti-Semitism is why the Arab Spring failed | Ahmad Hashemi | Ops & Blogs | The Times of Israel

'My skepticism gained further momentum by hearing and reading news headlines such as: "With more than 2000 years of Jewish heritage, Egypt shuts down its last synagogue," or "Attacks on Coptic places of worship continue," and "Egyptian high profile officials call Jews `apes,`" and "David Gerbi, the Libyan-Italian Jew who returned to his homeland, receives death threats," and "The last synagogue in Iraq is closed, signaling the end of a 2,700-year Jewish presence there."

These and other similar examples were indications that not only were the remaining small Christian and particularly Jewish communities becoming extinct in the Muslim world, but the already low tolerance towards the "other," was shrinking. This is the main reason I continue to believe that Arab uprisings are unlikely to bring any change for the better.'

Margaret Thatcher: Public anger at BBC bias: Viewers hit out at lengthy coverage of poll tax and miners' strike | Mail Online

One excerpt from this Daily Mail piece struck me

'One of Thatcher's arch critics – former Labour MP Tony Benn – was one of the first invited to speak on BBC 5 Live and BBC World Service and was given free rein to criticise Lady Thatcher.
He said: 'Margaret Thatcher taught us the meaning of class war, we have paid a very heavy price for it.

'She used the power she had to make war on the miners and the trade union movement . . . and it was a very divisive period as Prime Minister, but you have to recognise that was what she believed and that meant she was not just fooling and she did in a sense open up the meaning of the phrase 'class war" as she used her power to make war on trade unions and the majority of the population.''

Didn't the Labour government that Tony Benn was a part of close more coal mines than Mrs Thatcher's government?

I wonder how The News Quiz will handle Lady Thatcher's death

I note that BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz returns for a new series on Friday, presumably they will be recording the show on Thursday night.

I wonder how the assorted lefty 'comedians' will respond. My prediction would be the very nasty and very left-wing Jeremy Hardy to be nastily sarcastic and vicious (in his faux sweet middle class voice) and Sandi Toskvig to have some nicely written barbs of her own against a woman who she could never dream of emulating.

I believe the other guests are Phill Jupitus, Daniel Finkelstein, and Roisin Conaty.

Phill 'Porky the poet' Jupitus is another resolute left winger, formerly a stalwart of Red Wedge, worked with Billy Bragg etc. etc. He's not usually as overtly left-wing but I am sure he won't be able to resist the temptation.

Roisin Conaty I do not know, but I'm sure she's hysterical. I wonder if she's not a left-winger how she'll respond to the nastiness.

Daniel Finkelstein is The News Quiz's token right of centre voice of reason. Even he is hardly right-wing; an ally of David Owen in the SDP and then a Conservative moderniser. I feel he'll be terribly outnumbered.

So that's two very left wing, one slightly more restrained left-wing, one mildly right of centre and another. Should be fun! Except I've sworn not to listen to The News Quiz, it was riling me too much and that much swearing is not appreciated by the neighbours.

I suppose I should just be grateful that the even more left-wing and nasty Mark Steel isn't on the show. He makes Jeremy Hardy seem reasonable, well sort of.

Once again I notice the difference between left and right

I inhabit a pretty civilised personal world but as ever I note that even here, the left and right deal with differences of opinion differently. In several meetings today I felt that some people wanted to talk about Lady Thatcher's death but felt inhibited because whilst they were obviously pro-Thatcher, they weren't sure about me. I am not how most of you imagine me to be, most people would assume that I am on the left, maybe the far left .

I have noted previously how lefty types feel free to insult politicians on the right and how people on the right will just listen and accept their insulter's right to free speech. Whereas people on the right, being generally more polite, usually feel inhibited from expressing anti-lefty opinions in case they get verbally (or even physically) attacked by the usually less tolerant lefty.

Lots of generalisations in that piece but that, albeit anecdotally, is what I have discovered over recent years. Even amongst my friends, the lefty types will happily discuss politics and insult Conservative politicians and policies, whilst us right of centre types just have to keep quiet. It's trendy to be a lefty but not to be right of centre.

Jimmy Carter

My view of Jimmy Carter is well known so I was interested to read this:

Dershowitz: I Challenge Carter to Human Rights Debate at Cardozo
I will come, at my own expense, to debate Jimmy Carter on Carter's own human rights record. If Cardozo will have me, I will come and provide the students, the administration and anyone else that is interested, with a first rate debate about the meaning of human rights and they can decide whether what Jimmy Carter has done, constitutes human rights or human wrongs.
Alan Dershowitz, Felix Frankfurter professor of law at Harvard Law School, has challenged former president Jimmy Carter to a debate on his human rights record.

Dershowitz spoke by telephone to a reporter with The Jewish Press, on Monday, April 8, in response to the news that the Cardozo School of Law’s Journal of Conflict Resolution will be honoring Carter with the “International Advocate for Peace” Award this Wednesday, April 10, as reported that morning.

During the course of the interview, the law professor recounted the widespread death and devastation caused by Carter’s efforts at “human rights.”

“What should be discussed is not Jimmy Carter’s role as a peacemaker, but instead it should be his role as a deal breaker,” said Dershowitz.  He then proceeded to tick off the bases for his reasoning.

“First, it was Carter who advised Yassir Arafat not to accept the peace deal offered in 2000-01.  That failure led to the deaths of more than 4000 Israelis and Arabs.”

“Secondly, by encouraging and supporting Hamas, and always placing the blame on Israel, Carter has guaranteed the continuation of terrorism.”  Indeed, “Carter has embraced Arafat, he’s embraced Mashaal, why, he’s never met a terrorist he didn’t love, and never met an Israeli whom he did.”

“And third,” the professor said, “it was Carter who was responsible for not acting to prevent the death of two million Cambodians at the hands of Pol Pot.  Carter was the president of the United States and yet he did not intervene in that slaughter, he did not lead and prod the United Nations to take action.”

Dershowitz paused, to sum up, “Carter has prevented peace, encouraged terrorism and done more than anyone else to isolate and demonize the Middle East’s only democracy, Israel.”

But Dershowitz wasn’t finished.

“Jimmy Carter has distorted the very meaning of human rights, he has turned the concept on its head, what he does should be called ‘human lefts.’”

What does that mean?

“The way human rights should be addressed is based on ‘worst, first,’ you deal with the most egregious wrongs, the worst kind of abuses committed by governments first,” Dershowitz explained.  “He’s turned everything upside down.  Instead of Israel, just look over a little to the south, “Saudi Arabia is the worst human rights violator in the world: sex segregation, gender preference discrimination, religious discrimination,” that’s where a real human rights activist would focus, said the law professor.

“But Jimmy Carter was bought and paid for by the Saudis.  The Carter Center stopped criticizing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when the Saudis started funding it.”

I'd love to see Jimmy Carter try and answer those points but it will never happen. He's a coward as well as a nasty piece of work.

It's official, Thatcher was good for the UK

The Time Margaret Thatcher Met One of India's 'God Men' - The Daily Beast

A truly odd story...

'Kapil Komireddi sends the amazing story of the day Margaret Thatcher, not yet prime minister, met one of India's leading "God men," as the Indians amusingly call them. The story comes from the memoirs of K. Natwar Singh, a high-ranking Indian diplomat.

Chandraswamy did not disappoint Mrs Thatcher. He prophesied that she would be Prime Minister for nine, eleven or thirteen years. Mrs Thatcher, no doubt believed that she would be Prime Minister one day. Nine, eleven, thirteen years was a bit much. Mrs Thatcher put one final question. When would she become a Prime Minister? Chandraswamy announced — in three or four years. He was proved right. She was PM for eleven years.'
