A very worrying image, is there a Death Star nearby?
This Photoblog entry claims that this is a photo taken by Belgian astrophotographer Thierry Legault of Tuesday's partial solar eclipse and that it also shows the International Space Station passing over the sun's disk.
Is he and MSNBC sure that that is The International Space Station? It looks very much like a Tie Fighter to me! Is Darth Vader and his Imperial Death Star nearby?

The Perseid Meteor Shower
It's Perseid Meteor Shower time again and this year promises to be a good show with a new moon and clear skies (well we can only hope for the second of those).
The best time to watch for these meteors will be from the late night on Wednesday 11 Aug through to just before dawn on Friday 13 August. That's two full nights and early mornings but if you are patient and the conditions are good then you could see up to 60 shooting stars an hour, maybe more.

A very obscure Patrick Moore fact
"On 26 April 1957, at 10:30 pm, in an event that was to be a landmark of his career, Moore presented the first episode of The Sky at Night, a BBC television programme for astronomy enthusiasts. Since then, he has presented every episode each month, excepting July 2004, because of a near-fatal bout of food poisoning caused by eating a contaminated goose egg."
