Jeremy Corbyn inspiring confidence as always

Jeremy Corbyn seems to have a lot more in common with Dianne Abbott than I thought, an inability to remember pertinent figures on the day of a policy launch. Emma Barnett on the BBC's Woman's Hour shows that he just didn't know the costs of the Labour Party's new Childcare programme on the morning of its launch.

'Corbyn could not say how much his free childcare pledge would cost and had to log onto his iPad in a desperate, vain attempt to find the figure. The silences were the killer… Corbyn was also comically unsure as to whether he is still the vice-president of the CND, wavered on Brexit and refused to say three times if he would resign when he loses the election.'

Jeremy Corbyn really doesn't like being pushed for an answer does he? There's a real irritation and annoyance in his voice that really offers an insite into his psyche, I wonder how one could get Jeremy Corbyn really angry?
 
What's concerning is that it is not impossible that Jeremy Corbyn could be the UK's next Prime Minister unless the Conservative Party win a majority at the upcoming general election.

Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and Dianne Abbott leading a UK government, what a deeply depressing prospect. The country would be broke and broken before the time of the next general election. 

I am no fan of Theresa May and the Conservative Party she leads but faced with the alternative of a Jeremy Corbyn lead Labour government, I will reluctantly have to vote Conservative on Thursday week.

Back in 2007 the then immigration minister Liam Byrne said that dental checks had to be considered to prevent abuse of the system:

"If it is true that a dental x-ray is able to establish within a more precise range an individuals' age than any other form of determination then I think we have really got to look very hard at that evidence. We cannot have adults in the children's system. Adults in the children's system, I believe, pose a serious threat to our obligation to protect children effectively."'

But I think there's another common factor that I just can't put my finger on... Something that might cause them to harbour antisemitic views...

Guido Fawkes Guidi Fawkes has now reported on three Labour Party councillors being suspended today. 

If one UKIP councillor is suspended for making a racist remark against Muslims then the BBC will happily cast aspersions that UKIP is institutionally racist. 

Three Labour Party councillors suspended for making what most would see as antisemitic remarks and the BBC are desperately trying to hold the line that these are isolated incidents and that the Labour Party doesn't have a antisemitism problem.

There are local elections on Thursday the BBC will keep this matter as quiet as possible until after those elections, or longer.

Speaking on a panel organised by the group yesterday was Husam Zomlot, a former PLO ambassador to Britain. Zomlot has some rather eccentric views, to put it kindly, judging by thisBBC interview from last year:

"[Israel] are fabricating all these stories about beheading journalists [James Foley] somewhere in Iraq… they are fabricating also the story of the Holocaust…"

Andy “Seven Eights” Burnham per Guido Fawkes

The report sourced from the Labour supporting Mirror also reports that:

If that's the case then why was Andy  Burnham Chief Secretary to the Treasury ahead of the 2008 crash? Possibly he should have been in a less mathematically demanding role, maybe tea maker.

BBC have to apologise to Grant

'The BBC has written a grovelling letter of apology to Grant Shapps for its unbalanced coverage of the ex-Tory party chairman during the election.

Director of News James Harding admits the Beeb made the wrong call over the amount of airtime given to allegations in a left-wing newspaper that Shapps edited his own Wikipedia page as well as those of Cabinet colleagues.

Shapps was subsequently demoted and the story turned out to be false.

Wiki investigated the allegations, only to find no evidence to support the claims first aired by a Lib Dem activist.

Shapps finally complained to the BBC after they all but ignored that crucial development having gone to town on the original story, and now Harding has said sorry.

"We covered it, but apologised for not doing as much on it as he, or we, would have liked," says a BBC spokesman, adding that they had "not apologised for our election coverage".

A Shapps ally says: "Too little too late."The case for abolishing the licence fee and cutting down the BBC's vast, bloated bureaucracy is stronger than ever."'

Now why would the BBC go to town on a story that would show a senior Conservative politician in a bad light? Beats me, it's not as though the BBC acts as the Labour Party's media arm and attack dog.

The BBC and Lucy Powell call that a denial?

Further to my report of this morning...

The BBC now report that 'Lucy Powell denies doubts over Miliband pledges'. Of course this being the pro Labour BBC they report the denial rather more prominently than they did the original comment.

The vice-chair of Labour's general election campaign, Lucy Powell, has denied suggesting Ed Miliband could break his election pledges.

At the weekend, the Labour leader unveiled a stone tablet with the party's key pledges chiselled into it.

Asked on BBC 5 live if carving them in stone made them more believable, Ms Powell said: "I don't think anyone is suggesting that the fact that he's carved them into stone means that he is absolutely not going to break them or anything like that."

She went on to say Mr Miliband "stands by his promises". Adding: "It was just another way of highlighting that, which is that he's a guy of principle, of decency, a guy who is tough and he is going to deliver on his promises he set out, unlike some of this opponents."

Is that a plausible denial? The BBC would say yes, but then they are hoping for a Labour election victory.

Ed Miliband's risible pledge stone was defended by him as exemplifying that:

The trouble is how can we believe Ed Miliband's promise when on BBC 5Live this morning the Labour Party's vice-chair of the 2015 General Election campaign Lucy Powell let slip the truth.

When asked whether having to carve their pledges into stone was a sign the public didn’t trust them, she replied:

“I don’t think anyone is suggesting that the fact that he’s carved them into stone means, you know, means that he will absolutely, you know, not going to break them or anything like that.”

One thing's for sure the BBC won't be asking the question? They prefer to campaign for a Labour Party victory.

Will Ed Miliband have changed his mind by Friday morning?

On election night in 2010, one Ed Miliband said that the “constitutional position is clear” and “very simple”: in the event of a hung parliament “the Prime Minister gets to have the first crack”.

Fast forward five years and that means the now Labour leader has conceded that David Cameron gets the first go at forming a majority.

If you're an ordinary taxpayer the answer is once. If you're the Labour leader or one of his team, then the answer is 10 or maybe 11 times, so far.

Guido Fawkes makes it 10 times and has the video clips to prove it...


My favourite clip is the hopeless Harriet Harman showing her mastery/mistressy of the subject. You just know if that had been a Conservative spokesman that clip would have been played over and over again, but as it's a Labour bigwig, I don't think I've ever seen it on-air as opposed to to on the web.


But BuzzFeed think it's 11....


Can we just agree that it's more than possible? Except in the world of Labour Party / BBC economics.
