Star Wars - The Force Awakens
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, I've not even watched the second batch of three films (Episodes 1 - 3), actually mybe that makes me a true Star Wars fan! Regardless of that, the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, excites me; here's the new teaser trailer
So what do we see and learn?
This desert planet may look like Tatooine, home of the Skywalkers, but is it?
What is the crashed battle ship? Empire?
Those words must be spoken by Luke but is that really him with the robotic hand sitting with R2D2?
Very Jedi hermit, if it is, and it must be.
'My father has it? Is Darth Vader stil alive?
That use of 'you', remember that 'you' can be both second person singular and plural.
The obligatory fighters flying, a yahoo, lots of running, heavy breathing and fires illuminating the darkness.
What is that TIE Fighter doing in an Imperial hangar shooting at other TIE fighters? Undercover heroes, Han Solo again?
I see there's a new 'cute' R2D2 replacement, figurines to sell?
More flying down tunnels; does the Millenium Falcom have a 'turn 90 degrees button', or does that automatiucally happen when it is chased into enters a narrow tube, tunnel or similar?
And here's Han and Chewie, looking old but good (Han that is). Leather jackets are coming back into style this Christmas then?
But where's home? Han is an orphan and smuggler who never had a home that I know of. The Wookies had a home planet but most of were enslaved or killed many years ago.
So is this Han and Chewie getting back on to the Millenium Falcon for the first time in a long time?
That would fit in with the images just preceding this excerpt. Lots of questions, much speculation.
We must wait for the next teaser to learn any more. Or the film at Christmas 2015.

Happy Star Wars Day
For Star Wars Day, if you have to ask then you really are not a fan! Here's the more than two hour hour long 100% fan sourced "Star Wars: A New Hope" fan film...
'In 2009, Casey Pugh asked thousands of Internet users to remake "Star Wars: A New Hope" into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted. Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.
SWU has been featured in documentaries, news features and conferences around the world for its unique appeal. In 2010 we won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media.
Finally, the crowd-sourced project has been stitched together and put online for your streaming pleasure. The "Director's Cut" is a feature-length film that contains hand-picked scenes from the entire StarWarsUncut.com collection.
Many thanks to Aaron Valdez (video editor - http://www.aaronvaldez.com) and Bryan Pugh (sound design/mixing - http://www.pughtube.com) for the countless hours they put into this masterpiece.
We can't thank everyone enough for making this such a special project.

Star Wars news
The main cast of the new Star Wars film Episode VII has been leaked, apparently it will include original series stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Anthony
Daniels, as well as Peter Mayhew, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver
and Daisy
Ridley. I believe Andy Serkis will also be involved so expect some motion capture acting as is all but compulsory in today's blockbusters.

This picture, recently tweeted (@TheWookieeRoars) by Peter Mayhew aka Chewbacca from Star Wars, would have set my teenage self's heart all a-flutter and affected certain other areas too... It's Princess Leia and her stunt double relaxing on the Star Wars set... both in their slave girl metallic bikini costumes...

Embracing the 'dark side' of the force
'Young Sariah Gallego and her brother Alex were selected to participate in a Jedi Academy show at Disneyland; when the moment of truth came and Darth Vader asked Sariah to join the dark side (a moment where she was supposed to defy evil and pledge for good), Sariah got down on one knee and offered her fealty to the dark side. Smart kid! '

A very worrying image, is there a Death Star nearby?
This Photoblog entry claims that this is a photo taken by Belgian astrophotographer Thierry Legault of Tuesday's partial solar eclipse and that it also shows the International Space Station passing over the sun's disk.
Is he and MSNBC sure that that is The International Space Station? It looks very much like a Tie Fighter to me! Is Darth Vader and his Imperial Death Star nearby?

Would you fall out with Darth Vader?
George Lucas is clearly fearless as he has banned Darth Vader (David Prowse) from attending any more Star Wars conventions. Apparently David Prowse has said that he has been told he cannot attend any "Lucasfilm associated events" from now on, writing "The only thing I've been told is I've burnt too many bridges between Lucasfilm and
myself.". It seems this spat is at least partly due to money as David/Darth claims not to have been paid any residuals Return of the Jedi because according to LucasFilm the movie had yet to make a profit. The reason, according to Lucas Films, being that 'There is a big difference between having a share of the gross profit and having a share of the net profit. It is a huge difference in just one word. Sometimes, with net profit, with all the expenses and so on, it seems like you end up paying them.'. Hmm seems odd that one of the biggest grossing films of all time has yet to make net profit, I suppose it depends what overheads have been allocated to the film....
