Qatari anti Semitism

When an Israeli wins a swimming race in Qatar then the Qatari TV company show their true colours. The Israeli flag in their graphic has had its Star of David expunged. Thankfully they haven't managed to remove the one on Guy Barnea's swimming cap and I hope its presence really pisses them off.

Of course this incident won't get a mention on the institutionally anti Israel BBC.

€8.5m (£7.35m) for six idyllic isles in the Ionian sea sounds bloody cheap to me. You can barely buy a house in Holland Park for that, let alone The Bishops Avenue!

What's going on at Fukushima and/or Al Jazeera

I have noticed that whilst most of the world's media have stopped covering the problems at the Fukushima nuclear power station following the earthquake and tsunami, there is one media outlet that seems obsessed - Al Jazeera. I am receiving several near apocalyptic tweets a day from Al Jazeera. Recent ones include:

So are Al Jazeera the only news agency telling the truth about Fukushima? Are all the rest hiding the truth from the world's populace?  Or does Al Jazeera being based in Qatar, where oil and gas account for 50% of GDP, roughly 85% of export earnings, and 70% of government revenues, account for the negative attitude towards nuclear power?

Qatar and the World Cup

2022 World Cup news report from AFP that:

'Extremists welcomed FIFA’s decision Thursday to have Qatar host the 2022 World Cup, predicting Al-Qaeda will establish an “Islamic State” in the Gulf region in the coming years, monitors said.

“You fools, know that Al-Qaeda is on the threshold of establishing the shariah (Islamic law) of Allah the Almighty,” a user who went by the name Hafeed al-Hussein posted on the Shumukh al-Islam online forum, according to the US-based SITE Intelligence Group.

“And who knows, Allah may empower al-Qaeda so that it takes control of matters after a year or two, or five years at most.

“In 2022, there is no country with the name Qatar, and there is no province called Kuwait and there is no Saudi (Arabia). Instead, there is an emirate called the Islamic State,” the post added.'

Meanwhile the latest Wikileaks revelations as reported on Sky include this comment

'The United Arab Emirates is described as having a "strategic gap" that terrorists could exploit, Qatar is seen as "the worst in the region" on counter-terrorism and Kuwait is labelled "a key transit point".'
