Mahmoud Abbas retracts his blood libel

'Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday morning retracted accusations that Israeli rabbis had called for the poisoning of Palestinian wells.

The PA president had made the unsubstantiated charge in an address Thursday to the European Parliament, prompting harsh condemnation from Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing Abbas of propagating blood libel, referring to anti-Semitic allegations against Jews that arose in the Middle Ages.

The retraction, which was issued by the Palestine Liberation Organization, which Abbas chairs, said Abbas "rejected all claims that accuse him and the Palestinian people of offending the Jewish religion."'
More here at JPost but obviously not on the institutionally anti Israel BBC who didn't report the blood libel in the first place.

Long-Hidden Details Reveal Cruelty of 1972 Munich Attackers per NYTimes.com

'Among the most jarring details are these: The Israeli Olympic team members were beaten and, in at least one case, castrated.

"What they did is that they cut off his genitals through his underwear and abused him," Ms. Romano said of her husband, Yossef. Her voice rose.

"Can you imagine the nine others sitting around tied up?" she continued, speaking in Hebrew through a translator. "They watched this."'
But not on the BBC where such matters are as nothing compared to trying to get another Conservative party scalp.

Post Script:
The Mahmoud Abbas and Yaser Arafat links:

Abu Daoud was allowed safe passage through Israel in 1996 so he could attend a PLO meeting convened in the Gaza Strip for the purpose of rescinding an article in its charter that called for Israel's eradication.[11] In his autobiography, From Jerusalem to Munich, first published in France in 1999, and later in a written interview with Sports Illustrated,[77] Abu Daoud wrote that funds for Munich were provided by Mahmoud Abbas, Chairman of the PLO since 11 November 2004 and President of the Palestinian National Authority since 15 January 2005.[78]
Though he claims he didn't know what the money was being spent for, longtime Fatah official Mahmoud Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, was responsible for the financing of the Munich attack.[79]
Abu Daoud believes that if the Israelis knew that Mahmoud Abbas was the financier of the operation, the 1993 Oslo Accords would not have been achieved, during which Mahmoud Abbas was seen in photo ops at the White House.[77]
Abu Daoud, who lived with his wife on a pension provided by the Palestinian Authority, said that "the Munich operation had the endorsement of Arafat," although Arafat was not involved in conceiving or implementing the attack." In his autobiography, Abu Daoud writes that Arafat saw the team off on the mission with the words "God protect you."[80]

Those links make it 100% certain that the BBC will ignore this story as they can't allow anything that is critical of their beloved Palestinians to see the light of day.

Gerald Kaufman finds the Labour Party has followed his rather disgusting lead

I expect nothing better from Gerald Kaufman but the Conservative Minister, Tobias Ellwood is misinformed.

Mahmoud Abbas has incited attacks on Jewish Israelis with words such as:
"Al-Aqsa is ours, the Holy Sepulcher is also ours. They have no right to dirty the mosque with their filthy feet, we won't let them do it."
And also by lying about the murder of Ahmed Mansra.

Will Tobias Ellwood apologise for misleading The House?

Mahmoud Abbas - Israel's 'partner in peace'

Politicians and anti-Israel media often assure us that Mahmoud Abbas the elected (albeit long, long ago) Palestinian Authority President is a man of peace and Israel's partner in peace.

Watch the above video and see what you think...

I wonder if anyone at the BBC could watch that video and still push the line that Mahmoud Abbas is Israel's partner in peace? Actually I know the answer to that, of course they can and would.

The one hundred and ninety second weekly "No Shit, Sherlock" award - PA President Abbas Has Two Faces for Vatican and Hamas

Anyone with any intelligence has known for years that what PA leaders say to the West, usually, in English is somewhat different from what they tell their own people in Arabic.

'Hamas government spokesman in Gaza, Ihab al-Ghussein stated that Mahmoud Abbas was deceiving the Americans in public statements calling for peace with Israel.

In a Facebook post on June 8, al-Ghussein wrote that the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, is "tricking" the Americans.

"When I go out and say that the [PA] government is my [Abbas] government and it recognizes 'Israel' and so on, fine – these words are meant to trick the Americans," wrote al-Ghussein.

On Sunday in Vatican City, Abbas called for a "comprehensive and just peace" with Israel during a joint-peace prayer with Pope Francis, who recently visited the Jewish state, and Israeli President Shimon Peres.

"O Lord, bring comprehensive and just peace to our country and region so that our people and the peoples of the Middle East and the whole world would enjoy the fruit of peace, stability and coexistence," Abbas stated during a ceremony where he planted an olive tree together with Peres in the Vatican gardens.

But on the same day, al-Ghussein wrote in Arabic on his Facebook page – as documented by Palestinian Media Watch – that Abbas's real intentions behind his public declarations are very different.

"You know what Mahmoud Abbas says behind closed doors? He says: 'Guys, let me [continue] saying what I say to the media. Those words are meant for the Americans the occupation (i.e. Israel), not for you [Hamas]," wrote al-Ghussein.

"What's important is that we agree on among ourselves," the Hamas spokesman reported Abbas as saying.

Al-Ghussein himself called for "jihad" against Israel recently. In an interview with Al-Monitor on May 25 al-Ghussein stated that it was not logical that Palestinians travel to Syria to perform "jihad" following reports of a young Palestinian man from the Gaza Strip was killed during battle in Syria.

"It's not logical that young men travel from the 'land of Rabat' [Palestine] to fight in other places. Our country needs the youth to resist Israeli occupation, and whoever wants to carry out jihad and resistance, then here lies the land of jihad and resistance," said al-Ghussein.

Earlier this year in January, a senior member PA's President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party, Jibril Rajoub told an Iranian TV station, Al-Alam,  during an official visit to Tehran, that the "The option of resistance, including armed resistance, remains on the table."

If the BBC was an unbiased news reporting service then they would report this story. But as they aren't, they won't.

Shhh, the BC protecting their Palestinian terrorist heroes from scrutiny

You know the self-righteous fury that the BBC display when an Israeli politician is caught doing something wrong. Remember the headlines when the Israeli President Moshe Katsav was convicted of rape*. The BBC seem to be less interested when a Palestinian politician does something wrong.

Yes, President Mahmoud Abbas has just started the 10th year of his 4-year term of office, but I have seen no mention of this affront to democracy on the BBC.

*The Moshe Katsav case was covered in detail by the BBC but two aspects were not mentioned, first that Moshe Katsav was an immigrant from Iran, his family leaving Iran in 1951 and living in a tented refugee camp in Israel for a few years, the camp being turned into a new city thereafter.

The second was that the Presiding Judge, George Karra, at the President of Israel's trial was not a Jew but a Christian Palestinian resident of Jaffa.

The BBC could not report the first story because it would illustrate the difference between how Israel treated Jewish refugees post 1948 and how the Palestinians and surrounding Muslim states treated Palestinian refugees over the same period.

The BBC could not report the second story as that would go against their depiction of Israel as an 'apartheid state' run by Jews with Muslims and Christians as second class citizens.

Under Palestinian Law, Abbas is Subject to Death Penalty if He Signs Peace Deal With Israel | Jewish & Israel News Algemeiner.com

Here's some facts that the anti Israel media won't report...
'The law of the right of return for Palestinian refugees No. (1) for the year 2008

The right of return for Palestinian refugees to their homes and property and compensation for their suffering is a sacred and inalienable right that cannot compromised or exchanged; it is beyond the scope of jurisprudence or interpretation or referendum.

The right of return is the natural individual and collective civil and political right that moves from parents to children and does not disappear over time, by the signing of any agreement, and it may not be disposed of or waived in any way.

The Zionist occupation bears full responsibility for the political, legal and humanitarian and moral suffering of the Palestinian people and the non-recognition of the right to self-determination. Britain bears historical responsibility for the suffering of the Palestinian people. The international community bears full responsibility to lift and remove the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinians have the right to sue the Zionist occupation for their suffering caused to the Palestinian people and their demands for compensation for damage to their emotional or material damage.

Resettlement of Palestinian refugees may not be a substitute for the right of return.

Anyone who violates the provisions of this Act shall be guilty of the crime of high treason against him and subject to all criminal and civil penalties prescribed for this crime.

Anything that is contrary to the provisions of this law is canceled, null and void and any legislation or agreement that detracts from the right of return violates the provisions of this law.

Issued on: 01/08/2008

Hitler's ally, Abbas's hero, Netanyahu's response | David Bedein | Ops & Blogs | The Times of Israel

Israel's partners in peace the 'moderate' PLO have been at it again
'In his new year's speech, Abbas spoke glowingly of the legacy of the godfather of the PLO, the Mufti of Jerusalem Hajj Muhammad Amin Al-Husseini, who during the 1920's and 1930's instigated pogroms against the Jews of Palestine and who during his residence in Nazi Germany actively plotted a Final Solution to be carried out once his German allies would win the war. Abbas praised the Mufti as a man whose ways should be emulated by all Palestinian Arabs.

"We must remember the pioneers, the Grand Mufti of Palestine, Hajj Muhammad Amin Al-Husseini, as well as Ahmad Al-Shukeiri, the founder of the PLO," Abbas said according to a translation of the speech  made by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).'

Remember also that '... mass murder of Jews is currently taught in Palestinian Authority schools in accordance with Abbas's 1983 doctoral thesis at the University of Moscow, which concludes that the World Zionist Organization, not the Nazis, was responsible for the destruction of European Jewry. '

The Palestinian leadership are the true heirs of the Nazis. Although the prevailing opinion amongst the idiots who infest my twitter timeline is somewhat different, but that's why they're idiots.

More here http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-answers-abbass-gowing-praise-of-hitlers-ally

Don't expect the BBC to report Abbas's speech as that would ruin their carefully constructed narrative that blames Israel for everything and the Palestinians for nothing.

Palestine for the Palestinians, unless Palestine is occupied by someone other Israel

Take a look at the first Palestine National Charter of 1964, this explicitly denies any claim to the West Bank and Gaza  which were then “occupied” by Jordan and Egypt:
Article 24: This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area
As I have said before the 'Palestinians' claim on Israel is nothing to do with the 'Palestinian' people. But don't listen to me, listen to Palestine Liberation Organisation executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here's what he said in 1977:

"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan."

Read that again: "The Palestinian people does not exist.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva ."

Take a look back in time, until the late 1980s, Jordan’s Hashemite rulers did not deny that their country was Palestine. They said so on numerous occasions. In 1965, King Hussein said: “Those organisations which seek to differentiate between Palestinians and Jordanians are traitors.” As late as 1981, Hussein repeated “Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan.”

Remember that for many years, the PLO itself promoted a "stages plan" that would first create a Palestinian state on the 1949 - 1967 armistice lines, and then work from that position to destroy Israel. Indeed senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki recently stated that this remains the goal for Fatah as well, but that "you can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."...

One man who Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas keeps in office

'"Praise Allah who honored us and designated us to be in Ribat (religious war defending or liberating "Islamic" land) until Judgment Day, until the dawn of freedom and national independence shine [on us]... On behalf of all those who fell as Martyrs or were wounded, we salute the heroic fighter, the self-sacrificing Salam Al-Zaghal from the Tulkarem District, whose honor and pride would not let him remain silent, consenting to the settlers' aggression against him in his vehicle. He insisted on defending his honor, so he went against the settler and killed him. Blessings to the breast that nursed Salam Al-Zaghal." '

Because praising a terrorist murderer of an Israeli Jew is no rreason to be sacked.

'Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has failed to take action after a bipartisan collation of lawmakers called on him earlier this month to fire a senior official who honored a Palestinian terrorist for murdering an Israeli civilian. Abu al-Einein, a former Abbas adviser who currently heads the Palestinian Council for NGO Affairs, was caught on film praising the Palestinian who stabbed an Israeli father of five to death while he was waiting for a ride home'

Democracy in Palestinian Territories

'President Abbas's term ended four years ago. He has clung to power as an unelected autocrat for nearly half a decade.'
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/02/12/opinion/palestines-democratic-deficit.xml

Ask yourself, when was the last time that one of the BBC's Midde East 'journalists' (especially Jeremy Al-Bowen or Jon Donison) reported this news? Can't remember; now why might that be?

William Hague - deluded or worse?

In today's House of Commons address, William Hague made a rather strange assertion, he said:
'Nevertheless, President Abbas has decided to press ahead—a decision we must respect. No one should be in any doubt that he is a courageous man of peace. Our central objective remains that of ensuring a rapid return to credible negotiations in order to secure a two-state solution. This is the guiding principle that will determine the way in which we will vote on any resolution at any time.'
President Abbas a 'courageous man of peace', ''secure a two-state solution'. Here's his Head of Foreign Relations, Nabil Shaath, from July 2011

"a formula that is unacceptable to us.. two states for two peoples... We will be a state for one people...The story of "two states for two peoples" means that there will be a Jewish people over there and a Palestinian people here. We will never accept this – not as part of the French initiative and not as part of the American initiative. We will not sacrifice the 1.5 million Palestinians with Israeli citizenship who live within the 1948 borders, and we will never agree to a clause preventing the Palestinian refugees from returning to their country..."
That's just his Head of Foreign Relations, William Hague said that Mahmoud Abbas was a courageous man of peace, do I hear anyone making that claim? Here's Mahmoud Abbas, from October 23, 2011:
"I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I will never recognize the Jewishness of the state, or a "Jewish state."
Courageous? Man of peace? Do remember that for many years the PLO promoted a "stages plan" that would first create a Palestinian state on the 1949 - 1967 armistice lines, and then work from that position to destroy Israel. Indeed senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki recently stated that this remains the goal for Fatah as well, but that "you can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."... Also remember Mahmoud Abbas's statement that:
"I will never allow a single Israeli to live among us on Palestinian land,"
Also remember what I blogged back in 2010: Israel National News has some recent quotes from Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas that shows he's just as opposed to the continued existence of Israel as Hamas:
'Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told Arab leaders that the PA is ready to wage war on Israel if the rest of the Arab world does, according to the PA daily Al-Hayat al-Jadida as translated by Palestinian Media Watch. “If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor. But the Palestinians will not fight alone because they don't have the ability to do it,” Abbas quoted himself as having said at the March Arab League Summit in Libya. ... Abbas quoted his own statements to the Arab League while in a meeting with the PA's ambassador to Jordan. The statements were used in explanation of his opposition to the approach taken by Hamas. Hamas pushes for “resistance” - a buzz word used by Arabs to refer to terrorism – and refusal to negotiate with Israel. "What we hear from everyone is that the basis is negotiations. At a time that the entire world agrees about this... We are unable to confront Israel militarily,” Abbas told the PA envoy. Abbas, who is serving as head of the PA after unilaterally extending his term in office, has made several statements in recent years that have raised concerns as to his true intentions. In 2008, as Israel and the PA engaged in peace talks, Abbas told a Jordanian paper that he opposed terrorism “at present” but that “things may change.” In March 2010, the PA held a ceremony naming a main square in Ramallah for a terrorist who led a cell that murdered 37 Israelis. In June, a broadcast on official PA television referred to Jews as “our enemies” and to the entire state of Israel as “Palestine.” Earlier this week, Abbas eulogized terrorist Abu Daoud, the mastermind of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, calling him “one of the leading figures in Fatah.”Israel has officially referred to Abbas a "moderate" leader, as opposed to the leadership of Hamas, whose charter calls clearly for destroying Israel. (IsraelNationalNews.com)'
The Palestinian Authority a 'partner for peace'? Mahmoud Abbas a 'corageous man of peace'? Of course Mahmoud Abbas follows another man of peace as leader of Fatah, Yasser Arafat. Here's Yasser in his own words from 1980:
"Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations." "Peace for us means the destruction of Israel." "We plan to eliminate the state of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian state. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. . . . We Palestinians will take over everything, including all of Jerusalem." "The victory march will continue until the Palestinian flag flies in Jerusalem and in all of Palestine."
Fairly clear? Here's the same Yasser Arafat on the same day that he signed the Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn in 1993, explaining his actions on Jordan TV:
"Since we cannot defeat Israel in war, we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish a sovereignty there, and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel."
Pretty clear? The west listens to and believes what Mahmoud Abbas says about wanting a two state solution and a return to 1967 borders because that fits in with their world view of an evil Jewish state stealing land from poor Palestinians. The truth is some way from this narrative but the western media, especially the BBC, and the British Foreign Office just don't care; facts will not be allowed to intrude into their decided narrative.

Just listen to what they say (again)

The Western media is full of the news that Hamas and Fatah PLO are seeking to merge and that this indicates a softening of line by Hamas who are now dedicated to seeking peace with Israel based on the pre-1967 war borders. This is of course complete crap.

This is Hamas's leader in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Haniyeh, saying on 14 December that whilst Hamas may work for the "interim objective of liberation of Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem," this in an "interim objective" and "reconciliation" with Fatah will not change Hamas' long-term "strategic" goal of eliminating all of Israel. Ismail Haniyeh also said this:
"The armed resistance and the armed struggle are the path and the strategic choice for liberating the Palestinian land, from the [Mediterranean] sea to the [Jordan] river, and for the expulsion of the invaders and usurpers [Israel]... We won't relinquish one inch of the land of Palestine."
From the sea to the river, now where have I heard that before? Oh yes, remember that every time someone chants "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" they are calling for the destruction of Israel, the ending of the Jewish state. The river is the Jordan, the sea is the Mediterranean; from the river to the sea is not calling for a two state solution, it is calling for the destruction of Israel.

Two days after Ismail Haniyeh's speech, the Palestinian Authority's Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that Hamas leader abroad Khaled Mashaal had agreed that:
"There will be no military resistance."
"The permanent solution is on the '67 borders."
According to Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas had agreed to a permanent solution based on the 1967 borders. However, Haniyeh said that Hamas agrees to a temporary solution on the 1967 borders as a first stage only.

Who to believe?

Before you say Mahmoud Abbas, remember that for many years, the PLO itself promoted a "stages plan" that would first create a Palestinian state on the 1949 - 1967 armistice lines, and then work from that position to destroy Israel. Indeed senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki recently stated that this remains the goal for Fatah as well, but that "you can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."...

The west listens to and believes what Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas say about wanting a two state solution and a return to 1967 borders because that fits in with their world view of an evil Jewish state stealing land from poor Palestinians. The truth is some way from this narrative but the western media, especially the BBC, just don't care; facts will not be allowed to intrude into this narrative.

What time does the invasion start?

Today the Palestinian land grab goes to the United Nations as an attempt is made to start the dismantling of the only Jewish state. Make no mistake that returning Israel to its 1967 borders, which is itself incorrect, is merely the first step leading to the destruction of Israel. The Palestinians and the surrounding Muslim states do not want any size of Jewish state in their midst and their internal speeches, maps and opinion polls reveal this fact time after time; it's just that the Western media lead by such institutionally anti-Israel outlets as the BBC do not report such news.

However today may be more notable for what happens on the borders of Israel rather than in New York. Hamas have declared a 'day of rage' and I fully expect a larger version of the peoples invasions of Israel that happened a few months back. This tactic was quite successful last time, so what could Israel do if they were repeated on a much larger scale? If Israeli troops shoot at the invading hordes, even after due warning, then the worlds anti-Israeli media would have a field day. If the Israelis step aside then the invasion will be successful.

I believe that the Mahmoud Abbas is due to make his claim at the United Nations at around 4pm London time which should mean that Israel can expect the invasion any time from an hour before that time onwards.

BBC protecting Hamas from the glare of publicity

I have been hard at it today so when I finally got a chance to look at the web I was astonished to note that the BBC have still not managed to inform readers of their news website what Hamas have had to say about the killing of Osama Bin Laden. I can find no link on the BBC Middle East news front page to a story about Hamas's condemnation of the killing.

Meanwhile The Telegraph do manage to report the following:
'Hamas, the militant group which has just signed a deal to join the Palestinian government, on Monday condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden.

...

The Hamas prime minister of the Gaza strip, Ismail Haniya, said: “We condemn the assassination of a Muslim and Arab warrior and we pray to God that his soul rests in peace.

“We regard this as the continuation of the American oppression and shedding of blood of Muslims and Arabs.”

The Hamas reaction put it immediately at odds with Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, with which it is due to sign a unity deal today to join the Palestinian government. '

So why no mention of Hamas's reaction on the BBC? Are the BBC trying to protect Hamas's recently acquired reputation for being moderate and flexible? Has the BBC no sense of shame?

Complaining to the BBC about anti-Israel bias

Further to this from this earlier today I decided to make a formal complaint, not that I expect a particularly illuminating reply:
'I note that you report that :

'Israeli orthodox rabbi stirs up racism debate

From a pine-covered mountaintop in the far north of Israel, the Sea of Galilee is just visible through the mist below.

This is the idyllic setting for Tzfat, as it is known in Hebrew, or Safed, as Arabic-speakers call it, a holy place for Jews. It is said to have been founded by a son of Noah after the great flood.

In the past few weeks it has also become famous for a decree made by its chief rabbi who instructed residents not to rent rooms or houses to Israeli Arabs.'

And on and on and on.

Oddly I do not remember the BBC ever reporting on the Palestinian Authorities Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's statement pre the resumption of peace talks that:

"I will never allow a single Israeli to live among us on Palestinian land,"

How come when a minor 'Chief Rabbi' makes a statement about non-Jews that at most will apply in one town in Israel, the BBC report the news, but when the head of the Palestinian Authority makes a similar but anti-Jews statement that affects the whole of the Palestinian Territories that is not deemed to be news?'

The BBC with a story they want to tell and a story that they happily do not report

The BBC are pleased to report that:
'Israeli orthodox rabbi stirs up racism debate

From a pine-covered mountaintop in the far north of Israel, the Sea of Galilee is just visible through the mist below.

This is the idyllic setting for Tzfat, as it is known in Hebrew, or Safed, as Arabic-speakers call it, a holy place for Jews. It is said to have been founded by a son of Noah after the great flood.

In the past few weeks it has also become famous for a decree made by its chief rabbi who instructed residents not to rent rooms or houses to Israeli Arabs.'
Do read the rest of the report, it's the usual BBC anti-Israel piece.

Oddly I can see nowhere on the BBC any report about Palestinian Chairman Abbas's statement pre the resumption of peace talks that:
"I will never allow a single Israeli to live among us on Palestinian land,"
So when a minor 'Chief Rabbi' makes a rule that at most will apply in one town in Israel, the BBC report the news. But when the head of the Palestinian Authority makes a statement that affects the whole of the Palestinian Territories that is not deemed to be news. Why?
