Storm the Banks

The G20 meeting is attracting just the sort of "persons", that you would expect, onto the streets of London and The International Herald Tribune reports that:

"The British police are preparing to deal with violent protests as anarchists threaten to bring chaos to the Group of 20 summit meeting in London.

All leave for police officers in the capital has been called off and businesses are being advised to cancel unnecessary meetings because protesters have vowed to target the financial district as the world leaders gather to discuss the financial crisis.

Previous world economic summit meetings and conferences have been targeted by anarchists, anti-globalization protesters and other groups. The police say they fear that the gathering April 2 in London, set against anger at the economic downturn, could provoke more violence.

Environmentalists, antiwar campaigners and protesters have already indicated that they would demonstrate April 1 as politicians and officials begin arriving in London.

A movement called "Storm the Banks" is circulating on the Internet indicating that anti-capitalist protesters are planning to focus their attention on the Bank of England during what some protesters have dubbed "Financial Fools Day.""

Some thoughts:
1. If you are a City worker I suggest 1 April and 2 April would be good days to take as holiday
2. If you are in charge of a City Bank's Disaster Recovery Plan, maybe the coming week would be a good time to check it all works
3. Don't forget that the last time the UK hosted such a gathering, the G8 in 2005, home-grown Islamic terrorist scum carried out suicide bombings on trains and a bus in London that killed 52 people and maimed and injured many more
4. Remember also that Gordon Brown's government are likely to be looking for an excuse to suspend democracy (utilising the Civil Contingency Act) and so put off the May local and June EU elections and a carefully engineered riot and terrorist atrocity really would help here


It looks as though we may have one week of sanity before London becomes an even more unpleasant place to live and work.

So to all of you who were taken in by Tony Blair's slick salesmanship in 1997, 2001 and 2005 and to all of you who believed that Gordon Brown was an economic genius rather than a weird control-freak who got lucky and still managed to screw up the Country beyond redemption - "Can you hear the drums?"

In the same vein as the Exeter failed bombing

It is a rather sad indictment of my expectations of Labour Britain that I have not commented on the Exeter bombing of the Jewish owned Giraffe restaurant by a Muslim bomber. I will draw your attention to this article on the BBC website:

"A prisoner has pleaded guilty to making threats to blow up one of Europe's largest shopping centres with three limousines packed with explosives.

Saeed Ghafoor, 33, of Southampton, made the threat to a prison officer while at HMP Haverigg in Cumbria on 7 February.

The former English teacher appeared via video-link at the Old Bailey charged with threatening to cause criminal damage at Bluewater in Kent.

Ghafoor was in prison serving a 12-month sentence imposed by Southampton Crown Court in January for threats to kill his sister and assault.

...

He said: "Mr Ghafoor made the threat and it was treated seriously.

"We do not know if he could have carried it out. It was not a bomb hoax. It appeared on the face of it to be a serious threat by someone who was not happy."

...

He said he was protesting at the involvement of British and American troops in Afghanistan.

He was seen by the prison imam, who formed the impression that Ghafoor was susceptible to brainwashing.

After his arrest, a psychiatrist told police he had no mental disorder, said Mr Arnold.

He was remanded in custody for reports before sentencing next month."

We should not be reassured that so many of these Islamic terrorists seem to be inept, one day one of them will suceeed and just as on 7/7 many innocent people will die, many more will bear the scars and injuries for a very long time and even more will have to mourn the dead and deal with the injured. And just like after 7/7, the Labour government that caused the problem with its insane immigration "system" will spout platitudes about caring and dealing with the root causes whilst in reality doing nothing other than improving their own security and reducing the freedoms of the innocent whilst paying Osama bin Laden's "spiritual ambassador in Europe", Abu Qatada, to stay in England.

Don't forget them - 2 years on

On 7 July 2005 four Islamic terrorists blew themselves up on London's transport system killing 52 innocent people. There is a memorial to them on the BBC here. Take some time to read the potted biographies and see the waste of human life that day.

Please also do not forget that the four murderers also caused many injuries; about 700 people were injured in these attacks: 350 were treated on the scene, a further 350 in hospital. 100 of the latter required overnight hospitalisation or more. 22 were seriously or critically injured. I believe that some of the injured are still in hospital and many others have had their lives ruined. One of the injured is Rachel North, take some time to read her blog and some of the reports of her story such as here, here and here. There are other victims who have lost limbs, their eyesight let alone peace of mind, you can read some of their stories here.

Of course Tony Blair promised that compensation payments to the survivors would be paid as quickly as possible with extra funds made available. As per usual he was economic with the truth, in 2006 people were still waiting for their money and today 120 are still waiting. Is anyone surprised that The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority has not yet resolved a fifth of claims made in relation to the attacks. One quote from this Independent newspaper is this: "On the eve of the bombings' second anniversary lawyer Thelma Stober, who lost her leg in the explosion on the Circle line train at Aldgate, said: "We are the forgotten people."
The 35-year-old has received £33,000 - the maximum value for the loss of a limb below the knee - but is still trying to get compensation for the rest of her injuries.
She told the Evening Standard: "I have got to the stage where even though I am a lawyer and I am used to dealing with large documentation and complicated forms I am so fed up with it."
She added: "I would have been better off if I had been knocked down by a bus or a car."" Read the whole article and question the priorities of this government.


We must never forget the victims of 07/07/05 and when the terrorists strike again we will have more victims to never forget. How can we prevent this from happening again? I don't know but we cannot rely on any future terrorists being as incompetent as those of the past few days.
