How many dead soldiers might be alive now if Gordon Brown had placed this helicopter order somewhat sooner?

I read the news that "the Government is to order 20 troop-carrying Chinooks" and I can't help wondering how many soldiers might be alive rather than dead if Gordon Brown had not so pig-headedly insisted that no more helicopters were needed or had been requested.
