'Miss Williams said she did not know if it was "a political thing or what' - I think you'll find it was political

The Telegraph reports that:
'The lead singer of the 1970s disco group Boney M was asked not to sing Rivers of Babylon at a concert in the West Bank because of its reference to Israel. '
Apparently:
'Maizie Williams said she was asked by the Palestinian organisers not to sing the group's 1978 hit, a song originally written in 1970 by the Jamaican reggae group, The Melodians. The song's chorus quotes from the Book of Psalms and refers to the exiled Jewish people's yearning to return to the land of Israel.

Palestinians often question the Jewish historical connection to the Holy Land.'
Yes I am sure they do and it's rather obvious why they do.

'Miss Williams said she did not know if it was "a political thing or what, but they asked us not to do it and we were a bit disappointed." Organisers said they asked for the song to be skipped, deeming it "inappropriate" for performance at the Palestinian International Festival which has been running this week. '
I think Miss Williams should know that it was a 'political thing', after all we can't have anyone legitimising the state of Israel...
