Is the BBC biased?

The BBC's coverage of Hamas's latest attempt to embarrass and invade Israel has been as expected as has been the majority of the BBC coverage. I don't watch BBC news at such times, nor listen to BBC Radio news, so I've only been inflicting the BBC news website on me and that been bad enough. The BBC's anti Israel bias shines through as expected. 

Sue at isthebbcbiased.blogspot.co.uk has a piece about the BBC coverage that I gave missed http://isthebbcbiased.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/smokescreen.html do go and read it. Here's her conclusion:

'My point is that the BBC is openly inciting hatred. One-sided, factually erroneous reporting only encourages the pro-Palestinians and the anti-Zionists to believe they're supporting a good and righteous cause, and that there is a realistic possibility that Israel will be eliminated. 

This gives the haters false hope, and is tantamount to openly inciting, nay, whipping upantisemitism. 

Then, to add insult to injury, the BBC reverts to full smokescreen mode, effecting pretend outrage at Corbynistic manifestations of antisemitism. It's a disgrace. Thank you and goodnight.'

It's hard to disagree with any of that. Maybe releasing the Balen Report would help to defend the BBC from accusations of anti Israel bias.

His leadership is nothing more than an obsessive cult, and yet that is why it is so strong.

So I finish with this – I hope you are proud Mr Corbyn. I hope you are proud of your supporters that have harassed, bullied and intimidated their political opponents. I hope you are proud of emboldening and legitimising antisemitic conspiracy theorists. And I hope you are proud of marginalising and dividing the UK's small Jewish community.'

8:50: Schweizer says we always have to keep in mind what Google's goals and ends are. He says there has always been lurking this "utopian sense of social mission" that Google has. Schweizer says there is no question Google is manipulating us… the question is why. He notes that Google thinks the "perfect search engine" will "resemble mind of God." Schweizer asks, "what does that mean?" Schweizer says Google wants us to embrace ideas they think are important and suppress certain ideas they disagree with.

8:46: Epstein says the government and the intelligence agencies have been working very closely with the tech firms, and the intelligence community has data about Americans without their knowledge, etc. He says when the government wants to do surveillance, they need court orders and are accountable to us. But when the government teams up with the tech companies, there are no limits and they can just vacuum up all the information they can get their hands on and are not accountable to anybody.

8:40: Epstein says his team found that Google search results favored Hillary Clinton in all ten positions on the first page in the six months leading up to the election. He says that could influence 3 million votes without anyone knowing. His team also found that it was nearly impossible to get negative information about Hillary Clinton when typing "Hillary Clinton is…" He says "Hillary Clinton is winning" and "Hillary Clinton is awesome" came up on Google when people were wondering whether Hillary Clinton was sick or dying. He says you are being manipulated from the very first character you type in their search bar, and the more Google knows about you, the easier it is for them to manipulate you.'

The gender pay gap as misrepresented by the BBC

The gender pay gap is one of the BBC's favourite hobby horses and they are off riding that toy animal for all its worth today.

'UK companies are rushing to submit their gender pay figures ahead of Wednesday's midnight deadline.

By 11:00 BST, 9,053 companies had done so, with more than 1,000 companies reporting in the last day alone.

Firms with more than 250 staff must state the average difference between male and female employees.

Of those that have published data, 78% pay men more than women, 13% pay women more and 8% said they had no gender pay gap, based on the median measure.

One of the biggest names among the worst offenders so far is Ryanair, which reported a 71.8% gender pay gap.'

That looks serious, but then if I turn to the ONS report then I read this:

'It should be noted that the gender pay gap figures presented in this bulletin do not show differences in rates of pay for comparable jobs, as they are affected by factors such as the proportion of men and women working part-time or in different occupations. For example, a higher proportion of women work in occupations such as administration and caring, which tend to offer lower salaries.'

Shouldn't the BBC be putting that information front and centre or would it rather misrepresent the truth in the chase foir headlines?

Maybe the BBC should precis the information to be found here before constructing their next sensationalist headline.

Jewdas Seder: "Smash the State of Israel, F**k the Queen, Burn Down Parliament" per Guido Fawkes

The BBC have decided that the Jewdas 'sedar' is old news, nothing to see other than Jeremy Corbyn engaging with young Jews. Guido Fawkes has some more details of the prayers (I use the term loosely) from last year. 

Let's ignore the anti Israel sentiments, sentiments that Jeremy Corbyn probably does agree with, likewise the institutionally anti Israel BBC. Was it sentiments like those expressed last year that attracted Jeremy Corbyn to attend this year? Or was Jeremy Corbyn unaware of the sentiments that were expressed last year, if so wasn't he shocked by the sentiments expressed this year? 

Why are the BBC uninterested in reporting what the Jewdas sedar was really about? They could tie in the above prayer with the news of Prince Phillip's hospital visit, make it relevant? 

Labour anti-Semitism row: Corbyn faces criticism over Jewdas event per BBC News

'Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been criticised for attending an event organised by Jewdas - a left-wing Jewish group critical of more mainstream Jewish organisations.

It comes after Mr Corbyn promised "watertight" investigations into claims of anti-Semitism within his party.

One Labour MP called his actions "irresponsible and dangerous".

But a leading Corbyn supporter said his attendance at the event was "not as significant as it's being made out."

Not in his official diary? His office didn't know he was there. Is Jeremy Corbyn about to be seen as a liability by his party because of his actions? 

The rest of the BBC article plays down the type of comments made by the Jewdas group. After all the BBC are more interested in keeping the UK in the EU and having a socialist UK government than in fighting antisemitism. Fortunately Guido Fawkes has two reports to tell us rather more about the sort of Jews that Jeremy Corbyn is happy to associate with. I find it hard to believe that Jeremy Corbyn is so stupid that he didn't realise how his attendance at the Jewdas event would look. 

I find it hard to believe that Jeremy Corbyn doesn't know the views of the Jewdas group, after the recent fuss over his choice of  Facebook groups anyone with half a brain would have done some due diligence. 

So it seems that either Jeremy Corbyn doesn't care what people think of the rather strange groups that he chooses to associate with, or maybe he calculates that there's more votes in being seen to be steadfastly anti Israel, anti capitalism, pro socialism and in being seen as standing up to the 'Jewish lobby'. As I've said before there are many many more Muslim than Jewish voters in Britain and and that does have implications for anti-Semitism.

One rule for the Labour Party and one for UKIP

Before the Brexit referendum, and back when UKIP were performing well in opinion polls,  whenever a UKIP member made a stupid, tasteless or racist comment the BBC portrayed it as symptomatic of the views of the entire party. 

Now when many Labour Party members make anti Semitic comments, and leading Labour Party figures are members of Facebook groups where such comments are far from rare, the BBC suggest that it is just a few individuals and certainly not the entire party.

The five Facebook groups that Jeremy Corbyn belonged to - A question that I think deserves an answer

If the five suspect Facebook groups that Jeremy Corbyn belonged to were not antisemitic groups, or groups tolerant of antisemitic sentiments, then why were any anti Semitic posts not removed from the groups by their moderator or moderators?

So which journalist or  interviewer is going to ask Jeremy Corbyn that question? I suggest that it won't be anyone from the BBC.

The BBC report Winnie Mandela'a death thus:

Murders in London Overtake New York for First Time Since 1800 Under Sadiq Khan

Some news that the BBC won't report. 

'London has overtaken New York City for number of murders for the first time in over 200 years under the mayoralty of Labour's Sadiq Khan.

Britain's multicultural capital edged ahead of the American city — once so notorious for its high crime rates that it was chosen as the setting for Charles Bronson's Death Wish –– in February, The Timesreports.

London saw 15 killings to New York's 14 over the course of the month, and appears to have outstripped 'Gotham' yet again in March, with 22 killings to 21.

Historically, London has had a murder rate per person between half and one-twentieth of New York's since 1800, according to FBI data and studies by University of California researcher Eric Monkkonen.

The change is partly a consequence of Mayor Khan's campaign against using stop and search on ethnic minorities, with London police chief Cressida Dick admitting that constables have become "fearful" of confronting suspects as they "might get into trouble or might not be supported if they had a complaint".

Figures released last year showed London was already the more dangerous of the two cities for almost every other category of violent and sexual crime, with Londoners six times more likely to be burgled than New Yorkers, three times more likely to be raped, and one and a half times more likely to be robbed.'

Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party and antisemitism

In an earlier post I raised some questions that should be asked of the Labour Party, how many Labour Party members were also members of antisemitic Facebook groups, being one. 

The Times has a very revealing article https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/exposed-jeremy-corbyns-hate-factory-kkh55kpgx that partly answers that question, not that the BBC will be reporting that.

'Twelve senior staff working for the Labour leader and the shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, are members of groups containing anti-semitic and violent comments, including praise for Adolf Hitler and threats to kill Theresa May, the prime minister.' 

Twelve senior Labour Party staff members of such vile groups, will they be sacked or will the usual defences that they were members of such groups by mistake and that they never saw antisemitic posts be accepted by the Labour Party leadership. 

The article continues:

'The most comprehensive investigation conducted into 20 of the biggest pro-Corbyn Facebook groups — numbering 400,000 members — found routine attacks on Jewish people, including Holocaust denial.

The dossier was compiled over two months by whistleblowers working with The Sunday Times in the groups, who gained access to restricted membership groups. They uncovered more than 2,000 racist, anti-semitic, misogynistic, violent and abusive messages.

Lord Carlile, the former independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, said the comments appeared to breach hate-crime laws.'

A violation of hate crime laws, surely Jeremy Corbyn would have to sack any Labour Party official who was guilty of such behaviour, or who didn't argue against such hate crimes. 

' The investigation found:

■ Posts including support for Adolf Hitler, with one saying the Nazi leader "should have finished off the job" and another claiming the deaths of 6m Jews in the Holocaust "was a big lie!"' 

It's always interesting how anti Semites can believe both that the holocaust didn't happen and that Hitler should have finished the job. 

' ■ A Labour supporter, Patrick Haseldine, who posted an image of the Israeli flag on one Labour group on Facebook, with the swastika replacing the Star of David

■ Ian Love, a Momentum organiser on one of the groups, who claimed the former prime minister Tony Blair was "Jewish to the core", and told The Sunday Times last week he believed the Rothschild banking family controlled most of the world's finances.'' 

"Jewish to the core", will the Labour Party be asking Ian Love what he meant by that comment. It uses Jewishness as a derogatory description, is that antisemitic?

'David Prescott, Corbyn's senior political adviser, was a member of We Support Jeremy Corbyn, the biggest group, until last week;' 

Why did he leave the group last week? What happened to change his mind about the group? 

'Laura Murray, a stakeholder manager in Corbyn's office, is a member of Supporting Jeremy Corbyn & John McDonnell; and James Meadway, McDonnell's economic adviser, is in the groups We Support Jeremy Corbyn and Supporting Jeremy Corbyn & John McDonnell.' 

Still members despite the revelations of antisemitism in the groups, how so? 

Yes I know that means that these Labour Party figures are damned  if they leave these groups and damned if they don't, but then I have no sympathy for the enablers of Jew hatred. 

'Labour said no one in Corbyn's or McDonnell's office had seen, posted or endorsed anti- semitic or abusive messages.' 

How do the Labour Party know that? Have they conducted an investigation already? Who carried out the investigation? Posted or endorsed one can check but how do they know that nobody in the Corbyn and Mcdonnell offices saw anti Semitic posts? 

' Some posts decry the lack of availability of "assassins" in Britain for "getting rid of politicians", with a picture featuring May. 

Another post, about the former deputy prime minister Damian Green, says "why don't we just don't get on with it and lynch him".'

Remind me, which is the nasty party? 

' The revelations came as it emerged that MPs who were at a rally to oppose Labour anti-semitism had been told to "explain" themselves to their constituency parties.

MPs who joined the rally say they have asked Corbyn to make clear he does not think those who attended were attacking him. He has not done so.'

Jeremy Corbyn's dedication to fighting racism seems questionable, at least when it comes to antisemitism. 

' Labour said: "These groups are not officially connected to the party in any way. Labour is committed to challenging and campaigning against anti-semitism."' 

That presumably is an April Fool comment. 

'Corbyn has finally been exposed for who and what he is... a venal, cowardly, anti-Semitic-enabling bully.'

Dan Hodges in The Mail www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-5566239/DAN-HODGES-Corbyns-Labour-isnt-bad-BNP-WORSE.html writes a corruscating piece on Jeremy Corbyn and his Labour Party. 

'... Corbyn has finally been exposed for who and what he is. Obviously the mask slipped a long, long time ago. But now he has been stripped bare. The avuncular, beneficent uncle has slunk away. In his place stands a venal, cowardly, anti-Semitic-enabling bully.

His supporters have been exposed as well. His social media storm-troopers. His alt-media black propaganda arm. His army of Shadow Cabinet and backbench sycophants and apologists. The camera shutter has snapped and captured them. They hoped they would be framed as a youthful, energetic, political new wave. But they will be remembered for a single week in March, when they roamed the internet, hunting down Jews and their supporters, attempting to terrorise, distort and deflect from the exposure of their rampant racism.

Over the past few days, Labour centrists have been patting themselves on the back. They have pointed to the 40 MPs, and thousand or so Labour activists, who courageously stood in solidarity with the Jewish community, and invited us to record the moment as a turning point.

Thank you, but no. It is not. As things stand, it is merely another waypoint on the normalisation of anti-Semitism in our country. Yes, those MPs such as John Mann and Ruth Smeeth who have consistently raised their heads above the parapet deserve praise, as do the hundreds of Labour activists who joined them in Westminster.

But we need to focus on the 220 Labour MPs who didn't appear. Or the hundreds of thousands of Labour activists who still love to chant, 'Oh, Jeremy Corbyn' until they are hoarse. Where were they? Where have they been over the past two-and-a-half years?

I'll tell you where they've been. They've been trying to magic Labour's anti-Semites from the ghetto of opposition into the heart of government.

Indeed, that's where they are this morning. As you read this, normal service within the party has been resumed.

Labour centrists have been patting themselves on the back. They have pointed to the 40 MPs, and thousand or so Labour activists, who courageously stood in solidarity with the Jewish community. Pictured: Luciana Berger at a protest against anti-semitism

Out on the doorsteps they are again rubbing shoulders – the moderates and the anti-Semites; those who proudly took a stand against racism last Tuesday, and the racists they purportedly stood against. Delivering their leaflets. Marking their canvassing forms. Working to usher the Labour Jew-haters ever closer to power.

Well, those pockets are deep. Take the overt anti-Semites. Add the anti-Semites who hide behind the fig-leaf of anti-Zionism and those who hide behind the slightly larger fig-leaf of 'opposition to the policies of Israel'. Then toss in the 'few bad apples' brigade. The 'Jeremy has spent his whole life fighting racism' denialists. The 'some of Jeremy's best friends are Jewish' cheerleaders. Add them up, and you have the overwhelming majority of the modern Labour Party. Actually, ignore them. Simply look at the resignation of Christine Shawcroft. The woman who had prime responsibility for rooting out Labour anti-Semitism has been forced to resign – for turning a blind eye to anti-Semitism. And she still stubbornly insists the whole thing is simply a plot to get at Corbyn.

Yet still the moderates prevaricate. Still they attempt to square their party's anti-Semitic circle. Still they grope for compromises.

FULL implementation of the utterly discredited Chakrabarti report is one fantastical suggestion. Another is an 'independent ombudsman' to outsource investigations into Labour bigotry – presumably because Labour's leaders cannot be trusted to do it themselves.

There is no need for such procedural sophistry. For 'enough is enough' to represent more than a self-indulgent soundbite, Labour's moderates need only ask Jeremy Corbyn the following questions.

Can you give money to overtly anti-Semitic groups? Can you regularly praise anti-Semites? Can you lobby on their behalf? Can you anoint them your 'friends'? Can you join and participate in virulently anti-Semitic Facebook groups? Can you organise meetings on behalf of its members? Can you see a Nazi-style caricature of a hook-nosed Jew daubed on an East London wall and defend it.

Can you do these things and still remain a member of the Labour Party?

For the events of last week to mean anything, the answer to that question should be a clear, resounding 'no'.

Which is precisely why Labour moderates will not ask it. Because they know the man guilty of each of those offences is Jeremy Corbyn himself.

They simply cannot bring themselves to take the final step. To state clearly and publicly what every single person who is not part of the thuggish, cultish, Corbynite clique knows to be true. That Jeremy Corbyn cannot provide a solution to Labour's anti-Semitism problem because he is the living embodiment of Labour's anti-Semitism problem. '

Hard to read for Labour Party supporters? Tough, either you fight anti-Semitism or you're an enabler... 

Labour Party 'not connected' to abusive anti-Jewish messages per BBC News

The BBC faithfully report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43609296 the Labour Party line that they are not connected to the various antisemitic groups that have been revealed as having Labour Party figures as members.

'Labour has sought to distance itself from a series of pro-Jeremy Corbyn Facebook groups that feature anti-Semitic, racist and abusive comments.

A report published in the Sunday Times claims to have uncovered more than 2,000 such messages, including misogynistic and violent posts.

Among the messages was praise for Adolf Hitler and threats to kill Prime Minister Theresa May, the paper said.

A Labour spokesman said the groups are not connected to the party in any way.'

Not connected in any way, other than by members!

Perhaps a request for the numbers and names of Labour Party members who were/are members of the more vile antisemitic groups should be made. I wonder what a similar request to the BBC would reveal about their staff's political prejudices.

'The two positions are irreconcilable. If Chakrabarti is right then there is no anti-Semitism in Labour, and Corbyn is simply being manipulated by public pressure. If Corbyn's latest admissions are to be believed then he was at best mistaken, and at worst lied, when he defended Chakrabarti against allegations of a whitewash report – which it now clearly appears to be.

So who is right? And who is to step down? The whitewashing Shami? Or the new 'militant opponent of anti-Semitism', as he claims he now is on his Twitter feed?'

'He had previously said he wanted to stand for the executive to "break down barriers" and make the party more welcoming to groups who feel "isolated or excluded".'

Groups who feel "isolated or excluded", like Jews in the Labour Party?

The BBC are happily pushing the Jeremy Corbyn line that he definitely not antisemitic. This New York Times article https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/29/opinion/jeremy-corbyn-anti-semite.html reveals some inconvenient facts that the BBC and Jeremy Corbyn would rather keep under wraps.

'Corbyn also met in 2009 with Dyab Abou Jahjah, a Belgian-Lebanese activist whose Arab European League had previously published a cartoon denying the Holocaust. Corbyn initially denied ever meeting the activist, then was "reminded" by a photograph of the two of them together. "We had, I think two times, lunch or breakfast together," Abou Jahjah noted, "so I cannot say that Mr. Corbyn is a personal friend, but he is absolutely a political friend." Abou Jahjah was later banned from entering Britain.

Then there was Corbyn's association with the anti-Israel group "Deir Yassin Remembered," founded by the Holocaust denier Paul Eisen. Corbyn attended multiple meetings of the group. More recently, he has claimed that Eisen was not a Holocaust denier when he knew him.

And so it goes. Corbyn received £20,000 for appearing on Iran's English language Press TV. "I was able to raise a number of human rights issues, not just in Iran but other countries as well," he says, by way of justification. He defended then-Anglican vicar Stephen Sizer, notorious for strident anti-Zionism, against charges of anti-Semitism: "Such criticism," Corbyn wrote, "is part of a wider pattern of demonizing those who dare to stand up and speak out against Zionism." He publicly praised as "a voice that must be heard" the Islamist preacher Raed Salah, who has said Jews used gentile blood for religious purposes.'

What are the chances of the BBC reporting any of these inconvenient facts about Jeremy Corbyn's somewhat questionable history? Absolutely nil is the answer as for the BBC protecting Jeremy Corbyn is more important than fighting antisemitism. What's interesting is wondering how many people at the BBC have similar views on 'fighting' antisemitism as Jeremy Corbyn. The BBC's anti Israel attitude, as revealed by the Balen Report, like that of so many on the left of British politics links to antisemitism.
