Happy Easter from the religion of peace

Islamic tolerance for Christianity and Christians (Fellow people of the book) has been on display over the Easter weekend. In Indonesia 19 Islamists have been arrested for planting bombs beneath a gas pipeline by the Christ Cathedral near Jakarta. These bombs, which were defused in a 10-hour operation on Thursday, had been set to explode during Good Friday services at the 3,000 seat Roman Catholic church.

Meanwhile In Israel one Jewish worshiper was killed and five further wounded in Nablus early on Sunday morning after their vehicle was shot at by Palestinian Authority security forces as they were leaving the city following services held at Joseph’s Tomb. In the background to this story is the fact that whilst Israel allows freedom of religion to all religions, even to the extent that Muslims pray at the Mosque built above the ruins of the Jewish Temple, leaving Jews just the Western or Wailing Wall to pray at, the Palestinian Authority allows Jews to pray at Joseph's tomb just one night a month.

In Indonesia it was Islamist terrorists and in the second instance it was Palestinian Authority security. In the first case they failed, in the second the murder was not it seems pre-meditated. The first incident seems to follow the standard Islamist terrorist attack blueprint plan of a massive explosion designed to kill and maim as many kufr as possible with the extra twist this time that the attack was to be filmed. The second case also has a twist in that following the shooting, Muslims gathered at the tomb of Joseph to protest, not at the killing of innocent Jews but instead to burn the site that Muslims claim is holy to Islam as well as Judaism.

Religious tolerance seems to be something that Christians and Jews preach and practice but many adherents of Islam just preach and even then with limitations.

Happy Easter?!
