Sweet - Blockbuster - Possibly the most recognisable pop song intro ever?
40 years ago, god that makes me feel old. I remember this Top of the Pops appearance as if it was yesterday.
I am not a sheep, I have my own mind
I have had enough of being told what and how to think
Whilst we are still allowed the remnants of free speech,
I will speak out.
I also reserve the right to discuss less controversial matters should I feel the urge.

Oddly Jean Genie was the last song I played before going to sleep last night! There are similarities I agree but they are actually generally quite different. There's certainly room to love them both.
I found this explanation which you might appreciate: 'Also the riffs are slightly different with The Jean Genie's riff being "bowmp bowmp bowmp buh-DAH-duh" whereas "Blockbuster"s is "ba-domp ba-domp ba-domp ba-DA-duh".' Thanks to http://www.5years.com/encyj.htm
"ba-domp" is just a "bowmp" with a short anacrusis, and I am not sure the extra note is really added on "bdomps" 2 & 3.
