The one hundred and twenty-fourth weekly "No shit, Sherlock" award

This wekk's award is presented to the presidents of the Royal College of Surgeons, the College of Emergency Medicine and other leading medical association who have discovered that Labour's waiting pledge for 'elective' operations has resulted in taking surgeons away from the patients who need them the most.

They argue that while the NHS has succeeded in reducing waiting times for pre-planned operations in recent years, this has come “at the cost of relative neglect of the needs of the patients admitted as emergencies”.
