Racism v Sexism

The BBC are keen to tell us that if Barack Obama is not elected President then it will be because Americans are too racist to vote for a black man. Now that Sarah Palin is running for Vice President, would it be sexist for Americans not to vote for her and John McCain, as it was for Democrats not to vote for Hillary Clinton?
