When even the Brown Broadcasting Corporation have to report that "In its report on the 2008 Budget, the Treasury Select Committee said the Treasury now faced a major challenge in meeting its own targets. "Some of the very things that kept our economy growing over the last decade may start to cause us problems", said the committee's chairman John McFall. The UK faces an economic slowdown while public borrowing has soared." then you know there is no escaping the coming financial storm.
The BBC don't see fit to inform the public that the Treasury Select Committee is an all party committee with a Labour majority, so the verdict is not an opposition view.
Of course the BBC will still spin the economic troubles on the American sub-prime debacle and problems with the banking sector. Any pictures associated with stories about problems will be of large banks or Alistair Darling; there will be no pictures of the real architect of the British economies weakness, Mr Gordon Brown - the great borrower.
