Do the BBC accept advertising or product placement?

The Telegraph write that:
'The BBC has been accused of allowing some of its most high-profile presenters to effectively advertise outdoor clothing after receiving discounts for them of 45%.

George Alagiah, the news reader, Neil Oliver, the presenter of the documentary series Coast, and Professor Brian Cox, who presented BBC2’s Wonders of the Solar System, have all been shown on television with the Berghaus logo prominent.

Regional reporters have also appeared in the firm’s clothing, as has the BBC’s diplomatic and royal correspondent, Peter Hunt.

Viewers noticed the Berghaus label so regularly that many began to voice their concerns online.

One said: “Why do I keep seeing TV presenters wearing Berghaus coats? Just seen one with the Berghaus logo on one side and BBC on the other.

“What’s the shameless advertising on the Beeb?”'
Interesting and I am sure you can guess the BBC's defence without me even providing it here.

The BBC believe that they are never wrong and if they are wrong it was all a mistake.
